Ohhhh, that's what the influence is for? I throw it around like crazy since I rarely have any troubles with the UP. ;) ~SDC~

You could always surround your planets with starbases? :D ~SDC~
It's not a bug, as such, it's something that doesn't work how a lot of us think it should work, that's all. Even if we can't all agree on a method of 'fixing' it. ;) ~SDC~
Who exactly is "we", Frogboy? Or do you guys just not have a proper name? :) ~SDC~
Galactic Civilizations is not Stellar Frontier. This is therefore not a Stellar Frontier forum. Brad's actually listed as one of the programmers/game designers in SF. But he just said he's no longer part of that. So you've got your answer from him. Go bug the people who can actually do something about it. :CONGRAT: ~SDC~
If you have the RAD Video Game Tools you can just watch the .bik files anyway. ;) ~SDC~
"Gooder" is a real word, it's just difficult to use correctly.... Or do I just have trouble coz I'm so dang evil? :) ~SDC~
You don't need to control the Senate to go to war, but if you're not in control, chances are they're not going to approve a war unless the AI you're attacking is pitifully weak or hates your guts anyway. ;) It's a pain in the behind trying to teach those pesky Altarians a lesson when your senate thinks they're lovely chaps. :) ~SDC~
Cataleptic is correct. You'll see the same thing when you regain control of the Senate if you're a member of the War Party. The turn after you regain control your hit point bonus will be reinstated and suddenly all your ships will have only some of their maximum hit points. Think this needs to be fixed so that when applying bonuses it does it based on the percentage of current/max HP. So if you get a +15 to HP and your ship is at 100% it should still be 100% afterwards. ~SDC~
I think I saw someone say it's a bit harder to get your alignment up to good than it is to get down to evil. I know I've hit evil after two or three events in one game, so it's definitely easy to go down the evil path. ;) ~SDC~
I think the fact that this topic has been stickied shows that even if 'they' don't agree it's something that needs fixing, they do agree it's something that needs thrashing out to decide if it's really better to just leave it as is. :) ~SDC~
If by "president of Stardock" you mean Frogboy, that's exactly what I'm talking about. :) I've not noticed any bugs in SF, but I only play singleplayer. Do you run to the Fifa boards to complain about C&C: Renegade? ;p ~SDC~
GalCiv is playable and enjoyable out of the box. GalCiv already has a bonus pack adding extra features. GalCiv has also just been patched for the first time, adding features and altering existing features in response to community suggestions. GalCiv diplomacy makes sense. MOO3 requires little intervention by the 'player' to actually play the game. MOO3 has questionable AI with some serious deficiencies that beg the question, "Did anyone really test this?". MOO3 needs a patch, but has ye
Stellar Frontier is pushing 6 years old now. I know I first played it a long time ago. :) If GalCiv is continuing to be developed for even half as long, I'll be happy. Brad and the others that made GalCiv have nothing to do with SF, and this isn't an SF forum. I think you'd do better getting in contact with Stardock rather than complaining here. SF is old, and while it's still fun, it is certainly well past it's use-by date. (For the record, I downloaded SF when I got my dr
Yes, you could build it up so you could create a high level ship at a 'frontier' world every turn. Just like you could do so now if you bumped your spend rate way up high and put your military spending on high and had a highly profitable economy. And, again, if you can build a high level ship on a frontier world, so can the AI, so it's not as big an "advantage" as you might think. It would also have the DISadvantage that you couldn't be building constructors in your core worlds to set u
A class 14 planet raised to 15 through Soil Enhancement will be the same as a Class 15 planet without soil enhancement. Of course, the C15 is 'better' in that you can then build the soil enhancement on that planet and make it a Class 16. :) Not sure about the relative value of different numbers. ~SDC~
Anything the human player can "abuse" can also be "abused" by the AI, don't forget. ;) ~SDC~
I tried the PQ bonus in my current game and I'm loving it! :) Being able to colonise Class 13, and even class 12 planets if I want, is a big bonus. So many more chances to trigger a useful colonisation event. It's very nice colonising a Class 12 planet and having a random event offer a way to increase the PQ by 49% ;) ~SDC~
You can also create a ring of starbases around the edges of a sector you own, thus blocking ships other than your own from getting inside without destroying a starbase, whilst still providing economic bonuses to the systems inside the sector, and pushing out cultural influence in every direction. ;) ~SDC~
Heh, oops, I should've refreshed the thread before posting. ;) ~SDC~
You might also need to be on the Atlanta server. I swapped servers when I updated SDC, so that could be it... ~SDC~
If an option is created to switch off random events I just hope they make that get transmitted to the metaverse along with the other data so it can subtract a large amount from your score. Coping with the random events is supposed to be part of the challenge, surely? :) ~SDC~
GalCiv is a lot closer in gameplay to MOO2 than it is to MOO3... But even then, it's not so similar that it's just "more of the same". But if you're looking for a straight comparison then yes, it's like MOO3. Plays a heck of a lot better, though. :) ~SDC~
Try right clicking in the Drengin.net window and selecting refresh. Try shutting SDC down and reloading it. If neither of those work, then... ermm.. I dunno. :) ~SDC~
You need to have SDC enabled to show alpha/beta modules. The update is an alpha, if the 'a' in it's version number is anything to go by. :) The changelog is accessable by clicking the "History" button over in the left hand pane on the software page. I'm getting it now. It's listed as a 939KB update, which is not bad for the first real update I guess. Just hope it doesn't kill my current game. ;) ~SDC~
