I wasn't bragging there mate, my score is really not that hard to beat. Just play a single Gigantic game and you should manage it. :) ~SDC~

Is it wrong of me to want to reproduce this so I can see the colour blob? LOL ~SDC~
Is it possible to edit the "difficulty level" of the AI, such that I could create new variations on the standard settings? Things like being able to create a very stupid, highly economically advantaged AI, or a maximum intelligence, minimum economy AI. Or an AI that likes to be lucky! And so on. I've looked through some of the most obvious files, but can't really work out what, if anything, there is in there that would let me alter the AI difficulty. Is this possible? :) ~
Just use WinRAR to create a zip file? :) For those wondering, RAR is a fairly old archiving/compression format, it started out after the zip files, but has almost always been ahead in the level of compression you can get with it, in my experience. It's great for sending files to friends you know have WinRAR as well... But zip has been the standard PC archiving "thing" for so long now that that is what most people have and use. WinRAR has a shareware version, but I forget what th
"Every time I start a new Civ my economy goes down the toilet and I get trounced." Tried getting some economy bonuses for racial picks? "I can't establish trade routes." You need the "Trade" tech before you can actually trade. You also have to trade with the AI, not amongst your own planets. "My acceptance always plummets." Morale? Build some morale enhancing buildings. Build starbases on morale enhancing resources. Pick morale enhancing racial abilities. "
"Good, they scored that one accuratley, of cuorse they WAITED until the game had sold a bajillion units." I'd prefer that to a certain Australian games magazine that "Reviews" early beta copies of games! :sniff!: ~SDC~
Hey Brad, any answer on the Serial Number question I asked earlier? Someone in the "Does anyone in Australia have the game yet?" is asking if someone could burn him a copy. Obviously, burning people a copy is a no-no if the serial number is attached to the archive, so this is a fairly important question! :) ~SDC~
I wouldn't mind sending it anywhere within Australia.... but I don't have a new burner yet. :) Might be getting one next week, though. Just one question directed at Frogboy, if he reads this - Is it okay for me to burn a cd for fellow Aussies? At cost, of course. :) ~SDC~
I'm currently 69th (*snicker*) on the Metaverse, 4D, so go for it. I shouldn't be too hard to beat. :) ~SDC~
Or, if you have a download manager that allows resuming, get the one big file install you can download. It takes quite a long time, but you'll get there. ;) ~SDC~
I don't even see why piracy was even mentioned in the first place? Gezz surely could have just asked why the price discrepancy? :notsure: ~SDC~
I think I'm one of the few Aussies who have it so far? I downloaded it on a 56k line, so you should be able to get there eventually? The weapons.md_ file is the one that will kill you. When you get up to that you may be best off starting it late at night and leaving it running to avoid any phone pickups or peak hour net traffic. ;) ~SDC~
Oops... Should read "Anything else that looks like it's cheating is a bug, or you just haven't seen how what they're doing is possible." ~SDC~
The AI "cheats" by getting an economy boost at the highest AI levels, and the equivalent of Stellar Cartography from the start of the game. Anything else that looks like it's cheating is a bug! :) The AI definitely researches the basic tech, for example. I know, because I made quite a lot of money trading around the various "TECHTYPE Theory" advances in a recent game. ;) ~SDC~
Not very democratic and probably won't work anyway. If you try and change governments back down to Imperial, they'll have a vote on whether they want to go back to Imperial government. Usually they'll want to stay a democracy. ;) ~SDC~
1. Do you have as many trade routes as you are allowed up and running? 2. If you have trade routes, do you have starbases with trade enhancing modules at least in the sector where the route start/finishes? 3. How much are you paying in "Leases" for rush bought equipment? 4. Are your tax rates *TOO* high? Lower levels will sometimes provide a better return. ~SDC~
Was the AI you were trying to trade with at a friendliness level below Neutral? I find they want a heck of a lot more in trade the more they dislike you. ;) ~SDC~
If the star locations were hidden behind the fog of war then the AI would have an even greater, even more unfair advantage over us mere humans! :) ~SDC~
Yeah, 90% seems an awful lot, but it's really more a matter of time to get to 90%, it's not always particularly *difficult* to get there. Also, if it was only around 66% (2/3rds) for example, that could leave a very powerful civilization in the other 1/3rd who could easily beat you back militarily at that point. When it starts to approach 90% on the larger maps, you'll find systems start defecting to your side fairly regularly, nibbling away at any advantage an AI may have. If anything, the
"You just remember this when stardock decides to stop working on GalCiv." If they stopped working on it right this very instant, I would, of course, be disappointed. But when you get right down to it, I paid a little more than the Australian retail, got three games for that price (GalCiv, Stellar Frontier and Corporate Machine) and a couple of nice updates/fixes for GalCiv into the bargain. So I've already got my money's worth out of this. Anything extra from here on in is just a bonus,
Apparently it didn't submit it properly. The easy way to check if you can't find your name on the Metaverse is to click your name in the forum. It will bring up your score chart that way as well. I looked at yours and no scores were there. :( ~SDC~
Oh god, please don't start bumping threads for no reason. It's hard enough finding all the news posts without refreshing a thread only to see a lame bump post. >:( ~SDC~
I know you can rename your ship, but honestly, who wants to rename every last ship they produce when a simple change to the system would allow us to create our own prefix code? :) ~SDC~
Only a few times, honest! ;) I'm going to try being a goody two shoes next time.. :) ~SDC~
Speed adjustment from starbases doesn't seem to be working? The bonuses to speed at least, less sure about the minus ones. :) ~SDC~
