Earlier versions of the game didn't submit the victory type, I believe. Are you (or were you) using one of the latest versions? ~SDC~

"instead of relying on munchkin "keeping a defeated AI alive until there's a trillion people on your planets" tactics to score Metaverse points." Errr, I got to a trillion people on my planets (well, quite a bit over that, actually) without using "munchkin tactics". It's called "Abundant" habitable planets, crossed with the planet quality bonus. ;) ~SDC~

How does it pick which ship does the actual attacking, though? ~SDC~
It's United Star Ship... But since there's also the United Planets, it doesn't really fit in with the theme of the game anyway? I'd love to see an option to customise this too. :) ~SDC~
Solitair, My apologies if you're not actually doing what you said. After you said it, I checked your scores and your last two scores looked mighty suspicious when coupled with your statement. :) Like I said, I'm not trying to "get you in trouble" or anything, but what you described is clearly a loophole and something I thought was going to be jumped on to keep the Metaverse "clean" from people exploiting it. While you may not be doing so, if you've spotted the problem, others may ha
I've had over 1trillion people in my empire. It's *difficult* to keep morale high at that point, but it is possible. You need heaps of morale improving buildings, as well as a couple of morale improving resources being heavily mined. That said, morale is a little bit overdone, in my opinion. There needs to be a couple more legitimate ways to deal with it than just building stacks and stacks of morale improving buildings. ~SDC~
Yep... Unfortunately, they only improve as they get into combat. They don't earn any experience from exploring, for example, which is a bit of a bummer. :( ~SDC~
I think it's clear from the above that Solitair is abusing the Metaverse scoring system. I thought something was going to be done to stop people abusing the system? I'm not saying Solitair should kicked up the bum or anything (it's not like he's alone, or at the top of the scores anyway), but it does make a bit of a mockery of the system. The Metaverse can clearly tell when a score is from the same game (it only counts the highest score) so why can't it just reject scores coming in from
The easiest way to not get hosed by the UP is.... Control the UP! ;) Near the end of my last game I controlled well over one million votes on the UP. All the AIs put together didn't have that much influence. ;) Uhh, seriously though, I'd definitely like to see a bunch more UP resolutions. I suspect I've not seen all of them yet, but I'm already seeing some of the same ones over and over (protect trade routes, for instance). I think the problem is more that we remember the resolu
If you have the +15% Planet Quality racial ability, those Class 12 planets can be very dang useful to colonise. They still won't be fantastic planets, but each one of them you colonise gives you a chance for a random colonisation event.. So if you know a planet can be viable with some work, it can actually turn out to be worthwhile putting in the work. :) ~SDC~
The readme is old, you can't change resolutions anymore. ~SDC~
Have you got all your allowed trade routes up and running? That can be a good way to bump up their liking of you. You could also trying buying stuff off them for a long term 'lease' amount? ~SDC~
If you're going to let the AI take planet class into account in trades then that same information *MUST* be available to the player on the trade screen when asking for a planet from the AI. :) ~SDC~
It may be easier to "isolate" yourself on a big map, but that just leaves a lot more room for the AI to play in, build a great big fleet and come pound on you. :) I think maybe Huge and Tiny could be similar score modifiers, but Gigantic should be worth more. It takes a heck of a lot longer, you have to really go after the victory if you don't want one of the AI to come stop you, and so on. Smaller maps are more luck than skill, often. Bad starting points can equal a loss no matter what
You could work out which system has the most remaining AI influence and go drop some constructors in that sector to quickly build a cultural starbase? Probably best to also drop some ships onto the starbase when you do it, though. ;) ~SDC~
I just finished my Gigantic game, got through to a Cultural Victory in the end, with a score of 1441. No real idea how I could've increased the score, though, since it's not really itemised anywhere... ~SDC~
Even at "sub-normal" levels, you'd better be protecting those starbases if you're at war and would like to keep control of them. The AI can - and will - go after them if it gets the chance. Bye bye starbases. Hello leveled up enemy AI ships on your doorstep. ;) ~SDC~
Try giving or selling older ships to the AI in an effort to raise their attitude towards you to the point where you can get one or more to ally with you? :) ~SDC~
The diplomatic screen could do with an "Eliminated" type image for AI players that have been wiped out. When they've disappeared from the galaxy, their picture disappears, which makes it look like you just don't have contact with a race or races. ~SDC~
I think the *frequency* is okay, the problem is more in that you end up getting the same one multiple times per game. While it's very handy getting the strange plague that can be turned into yummy juice that gives you a hefty BC bonus, it's a bit unrealistic that that happens twice in 4 months. :notsure: Inserting a whole heap of new events would probably help alleviate this. :) ~SDC~
Doing smaller amounts, constantly, over a long period of time, tends to work better. Things like profitable trade routes and such seem to have a better long term effect than throwing a couple of battleaxes their way, for instance. ~SDC~
I had previously assumed AI difficulty played a part in the score calculations. If that's not the case, I can already tell that I'm probably going to end up with a very large score if I win the current game I'm playing. I took the maximum planet quality bonus along with a reproduction bonus and.. something else I think. So I suspect if I manage to win I'm going to have a stupidly large population. On top of, currently, the most powerful military. And the most influence. Think I'm "only" running
Starbases can enhance ships defense values? :) ~SDC~
Where's the metaverse score then? :p ~SDC~
