My Favorite Vote

Lets vote on giving all the Alien races 5% of my income !!

Or lets vote on how many technologies I should cough up for free !!

Why can we not have a few votes where Humanity does not get hosed ?

LOL In my early game I was not researching, just trying to do a landgrab with too many leased colony ships in a scattered and sparse tiny galaxy. When the tech share vote came up, I voted 10 and raped the Yor of their advances! Damn good equilizer back then. When the vote came back up much later, I held a larger majority and simply voted no. Ended up giving them lots of tech later just to keep them from defecting (I disabled Cultural Victory). Never needed a fleet either, just made lots of constructors and played arms deal when the Yor warred with a minor race. All I owned were Terror Stars, 2 per inhabited sector. Cakewalk difficulty, 2nd game total.

Kimberly, who hated pirates in the beginning of that same game when they arrived just after I started my first trade routes.

The easiest way to not get hosed by the UP is.... Control the UP! ;)
Near the end of my last game I controlled well over one million votes on the UP. All the AIs put together didn't have that much influence. ;)

Uhh, seriously though, I'd definitely like to see a bunch more UP resolutions. I suspect I've not seen all of them yet, but I'm already seeing some of the same ones over and over (protect trade routes, for instance).
I think the problem is more that we remember the resolutions that screw us over, but forget about all the other votes we had where things went our way, or we forced things to go our way by amassing a lot of influence, etc. :)

My daily rant applies here: as soon as we are given the tools to properly edit these events with full understanding of which variables we are changing then we will be able to add oodles of interesting proposition and events, etc.
