A couple questions ( espionage, minor civs and "good" UI )...

1. once you've achieved "max espionage" for a race, can you drop the slider back down to zero?

2. do minor civs ( or even major civs ) trade techs with each other? i've been using minor civs to bankroll my empire by selling them techs. major civs to a lesser degree. they don't seem to...

3. Is there a separate "good" UI, or is it just the default one? and is there any way of checking your alignment?

thanks in advance.

cheers

1. dont know

2. doesnt seem like it to me, either...but I could easily be wrong

3. Yes there is a 'good' UI... check out Brads 5th (or maybe 4th) game playback, where he played a 'good' Terran.. and if you check your Domestic -> Stats screen, click on Society, it will tell you what your current alignment is and exactly what degree you are...

(e.g. Neutral (50) << default)

regarding #3, are there any non-event type things that effect alignment? In my most recent game I ALWAYS picked the "good" option (i.e. the option with the biggest penalty) whenever there was a colonizing or a random event. but i just checked my end o' game savegame and my alignment was 55.

any thoughts?

'1. once you've achieved "max espionage" for a race, can you drop the slider back down to zero?'

Some events are based on your espionage spending, and it's possible to steal techs from a race if you have active espionage.

If memory serves, attacking a race which you have a good relationship with carries a minor penalty, but I could be wrong about that.

I think I saw someone say it's a bit harder to get your alignment up to good than it is to get down to evil. I know I've hit evil after two or three events in one game, so it's definitely easy to go down the evil path. ;)

Yeah good takes me forever... but I don't like the GOOD UI much anyway- it's really glaring and ugly... I think it should be toned down with more textures added.

finally got the good UI in my most recent game. it does take quite a few events though. the "galactic plague" event massively boosted my alignment.

the good techs are sweet, though. "the better way" rules.

i think the good UI is supposed to be kinda goofy looking.

Some random events count more toward good or evil, so you may have to do many small "good" things or you may get one big "good" event that will put you over the edge.

Major and minor races trade ALL THE TIME. One of the advantages of the AI is that it can take the time to check every race, every turn, for new trade goods. In other words, if you don't want a major race to have a technology, don't trade it to a minor race.

End transmission.
