Brad, This game sucks. It truly, and utterly sucks. It sucks you from reality into the SciFi world never to return. How am I suppose to finish four more years of school if I spend all my free time playing this sucky game? Oh, and you need to make a seriously stripped down demo version of this game for people to use as a burn-in test for their systems, heh. I'm dying to see my processor and video card pegged at 100% to see if my little Shuttle SN25P can handle it.

That is total cheese. "So, maybe you utilise their unwillingness to break alliances to constantly pull them into war and you drive them broke, big deal." Unwillingness? You make them sound like they are human. It has nothing to do with willingness, it has everything to do with programming. Under those circumstances, the AI is not programmed to break an aliance, which to us seems like common sense, but the AI is simply following its programming and has no choice in the matter. T

As for the wasted production. Why not have a new ability called efficiency. The higher the efficiency, the greater percentage those wasted resources can be allocated to the next project or cash or something.

I have to concur with most of the comments here. I have been holding off on starting a new game because of this. I like to play a fast tech, high diplomacy strategy, and this is all but pointless now. I'm wondering if the algorithm dealing with willingness to trade has been tweaked as far as military power. There seems to be no point in having a standing defense since attack power seems to be grossly favored in the eyes of the AI. I'm also wondering if the AI is purposely preju

Honestly, for me its all about the UI. There have been numerous posts as to UI improvements/streamlines that should be implemented before adding things that complicate it. I'd also like to see much much much more in game documentation. I hate the fact that I have to keep Javascout's website perpetually open just to play. (luv the website, btw) Some sort of tutorial. I was thinking that instead of an in game tutorial, how about just a standard .avi file. From the windowed mode y

Are they worth the cost? Are you seriously asking this? Ramp military production to 100% for about 5 turns and you'll have an unstoppable force. http://members.cox.net/cmcminn/cmcminn That one excalibur took on all those ships and won. I set it for auto-attack. The other 20 ended up wiping out 2 whole civs without a loss. What if you turn off tech victory? Or what if you just want the joy and satisfaction of opening up a huge can of whoop-ass on everyone! And

They all stack as in your first example. One thing to look at though is maint cost. Some late game projects offer good bonuses and little or no maint, so it may be worthwhile to build those, then sack the old one to save money.

No diminishing returns that I have seen. My last game on a gigantic map I had a class 42 planet in a corner trading with a class 34 about 2/3 the map away, eventually I had 3 routes going there. Makes it very easy to build trade starbases to up the monthly amount, since you have just one super route to build up. Towards the end I was topping 500bc a turn with those routes. But I do agree that trade with the minor civs should be limited until you are buddy buddy with everyone you want to

I vote for every 2 years. Or heck, maybe it should be based on map size? Then again, another idea sprung up. Meet every year. Years 1-3 deal with 'minor' issues, while every 4th year is a 'major' issue. I'm sure anyone who has played enough times could easily classify all of the events into these two categories. I also like the idea of being able to speak to the other members to possibly sway their vote (ala SMAC), and/or be given advance notice of the proposal to see if I wann

Uh, could you like explain what exactly your problem was? You rambled a tad too much to make much sense. If your colonies rebelled to the AI, then that's your fault. Population don't mean squat if they are all unhappy! If the AI built a bunch of culture producing buildings and starbases and started destabilizing you, that sounds like the result of what you experienced. I could have 3 stars and you have 25, and I could still be producing more culture than you and slowly take over your pl

Metaverse only takes your higher score. So a single game will only have one Metaverse entry no matter how many times its submitted. As to your other point, well, I guess if someone feels like spending that sort of time on a gigantic map to play it twice, then they're going to get the higher score. Me, I'd rather just play a new game. Plus, Brad already pointed out that time to victory affects score.
