It's not about avoiding debt, it's about winning.
This thread is actually about avoiding debt. Or a rant, rather, about not enough of it. And with all the "yay" exclamations one would expect people to act accordingly instead of exploiting every single possible design fault in order to achieve exactly the opposite. But there've been enough holy wars in pretty much every gaming community over the whole exploiting vs avoi
This response is based on a fundamental misunderstanding of the optimal way to handle tighter debt, which is entirely micromanagement of resources rather than electing to build alternate buildings. It is a giant and imo should be altogether removed from the game.
Meticulous micromanagement is always the optimal way, regardless the mode. But people don't really minimax, not even if they are Pb's and Cubits. Self-effic
Tighter debt has problems from micromanagement, not because the inherent idea of disallowing debt is bad. If Cubit's idea of forcing the highest price resource to be sold was applied to tighter debt, then maybe tighter debt would be less ridiculous, and maybe some people might even try playing it.
I strongly disagree. From micromanagement point of view tighter debt is less complicated than current debt system where different cos
I am a new player and let's face it this game appeals to a very limited market. Make it the best you can for those of us that are into it. I am surprised that as a new player, who struggles with the whole debt management concept, you suggest to add even more complexity to the game that's already incredibly 'newbie&
Instant claiming is not the problem, the inability to cancel the claim is. Not only due to misclicks. Sometimes the situation changes so rapidly, you must change your decisions within seconds and less.

Even though I didn't particularly like the formula, I suppose this ladder served its purpose by attracting more players to competitive multiplayer. Many names I've never seen in FFA's. So it's all good. I do hope though that if and when the new ladder is up, ranking formula will be a bit more thought through. P.S. That friend of yours sounds like a total douche. [e digicons]:P[/e]
Yes, the score doesn't appear on the leaderboard. Happens with both first attempts and replays. Wi-fi or wired connection. I don't rule out the possibility it's my internet. That's why I am curious whether this happens to anybody else or not.
Don't thank me, let's thank Jason together! :) Glad I could help. Have fun!
I knew I am not alone! [e digicons]:P[/e] Timmay, in order to run the game on HD3000, you need to enforce DirectX 9 via Steam launch options. It's not officially supported, but dev team was kind enough to make it possible for us, the masochists, to play nonetheless. [e digicons]:smitten:[/e] In your Steam library right-click on OTC --> Properties --> Set Launch Options... --> type in "-force-d3d9" without quotes --> OK. It might tak
Reveal map is the default in beta 7, which means the earlier you found, the more debt you take. Watch for the debt counter in the middle of your screen and wait. However, it's worth noticing that often founding earlier than your opponents, even though it will cause some debt, is beneficial, because it allows you to grab better spot for your colony.
I really can't imagine the situation in MP where prices skyrocket and nobody capitalizes on that. And even in your scenario with only newcomers, like I said, there's not enough market pressure for them to climb this high and it's only possible if the game lasts way longer than it should. I haven't touched the campaign for a while, but I remember prices being significantly higher than in skirmishes mid-late game.
I agree. Stock prices are totally out of control in beta 7. I know I complained that MB was unreasonably cheap before, but this is just too much.
Am I the only one who has at least third of the daily games fail to register? Is it the server? Is it my internet? Is it the universe declaring war on me? I need some clarity please! [e digicons][/e]
BlueBlackKitsune, are you referring to campaign? If what you describe happens during skirmishes mind if I ask you how long does one game take? A typical skirmish is about or under 30 minutes and many of them are much shorter. There's just not enough time for the market pressure from colony to build up.
Dammit, just missed out!
Stay tuned. As history teaches us, it's not uncommon that spots open up right before the game. ;)
It would be much easier for us to give situation specific explanation and/or advice if you provide some screenshots or preferably the replay. Replay files are located in Documents\My Games\Offworld.
The primary reason to make the upgrade and claims large and prominent is that if new players miss those components, they won't be able to progress in the game at all. I recognize and agree that expert players will see the space as used poorly and that they would prefer more information put in such a large space, but if the game isn't approachable to new players, we won't get new players and the game won't grow. Big bump from me. This is the first time I am looking at those screens on decent size monitor instead of 15" laptop. Apparently, not having proper gaming hardware has more perks than I thought. [e digicons]:P[/e]
Not just you Blues. But I think it's fixed already. Or at least I got used to it so I don't notice it anymore.

I know that. The problem is when you try to cancel shipment to switch to other resource - weird stuff happens.
