This is all my experience with 1v1 though, I don't know anything about FFA.
In FFA onworld prices are much higher late game, especially the life support that everyone is trying to launch, thus OW are less of a cookie cutter strat. In large FFA's it can get ridiculous to the point OW are not profitable and you'd be better off scrapping them with Nanotech. Still marginal scenario, but not impossible. I had a ga
Is that consistent with everyone else?
In my case it was the opposite - the first one failed and the second one worked fine. And that happened only once really.
^^ Very well put, Gameslayer.
That happened to me once as well. Out of 2 CS items 1 yielded nothing. I would like to say it was won through an auction and applied on solar panel tile, but I can't be sure. I'll try to pay more attention from now on and will save the replay if something similar happens again.
I wonder if this discussion breaks down into who likes playing expansive vs those that prefer other HQ's.
Don't you wonder why would anyone prefer other HQ's if expansive is so OP? :P
When certain conditions are met, each faction can be OP. There's too much randomness involved. It used to be only the map and offworld prices, now we also have a random black market pool. Which kinda screwed everything, to be honest. I like the variety, but I dislike the fact that BM has such a huge impact on your founding choices. Sometimes even more than available resources. IMO, this should never be the case. Anyway, I agree that expansive is strong. However, I am biased.
More on single player... Creating a new thread seemed like a waste so here we go. This the next version. Anyone noticed a pattern? <
The debt timer has been further adjusted in the next version, so we just need to see how that pans out.
The replay is supposed to be in the C:\Users\Your Username\Documents\My Games\Offworld. It's the single Replay.bin file there. Unfortunately, only the last one is saved, but you can back them up manually if you need. Hopefully that won't be always the case. It does look though, you just didn't have enough cash to launch. Are you sure 4 launches made it through? Even if at 30k profit each, it's about 120k and you don't lose nearly enough per second to run out.
Pre-game bidding would be too complicated. Usually the best solution is the simplest one. Maybe something like reducing game speed between the first found and last found - so the debt timer wouldn't be overwhelming, nor those who found early receive too huge of advantage. Perhaps that would encourage people to found quickly in abundant map too just to speed things up a bit. I doubt though.
Some minor bugs I've noticed recently. Multiplayer: 1. A Hologrammed building doesn't pick up the Off status of the adjacent buildings. The Nightime status has been fixed, as promised, but this one I am not sure. It's been a while since I took this screenshot though, so it's very possible this particular issue has been solved by now as well. http://i.imgur.com/YCUyfNc.png 2. Stati
Indeed, the issue perhps isn't that founding later is a disadvantage, but founding earlier isn't enough of an advantage to make you want to found with debt. I propose instead that this issue would be fixed if the debt timer ticked down slower when debt became smaller and people start placing HQ's. If someone pays 20K debt for a headstart it should be a real headstart rather than about 10 seconds. If this changes to how I sugge
Maybe it could be offered for uhm... auction like the geos, claims and other black market items that are not in the tray? Or be only available for players with D rating who are hang by a thread . I can imagine some other marginal scenarios when it has a potential to be useful, but taking a spot of a more influential BM option seems like a waste.
Makes sense. Thanks again.
Thanks Soren. What about spies and holograms in SP? Did I just have bad luck with map generation or was that intentional and they are not supposed to appear in single player games?
Are holograms and spies exclusive to MP? I wasn't able to generate SP map with either of them in the game. I was trying to reproduce another Hologram related bug (feature???) that I noticed while looking into a replay file. Not sure if it's been addressed in Beta 5 (this game was in current Beta 4). When a building is disguised as ice condenser, the Nighttime status doesn't show up, which defeats the purpose of the whole thing. I'd assume the same applies to dry
Based on 1 game experience in beta 4 - the red button does appear for your teammates, thus, I assume, you can technically buy them out, However, once all rival teams are eliminated, all members of the remaining team receive 'you won' screen and cannot proceed to playing against each other. I'd say team mode needs some more polishing. It's still... weird.
It's not the stock owned either, since I didn't have any. So indeed further clarification is needed. As for you assumption, Yerand, the geo has been mutinied, not constructed. Re post-game statistics: it works just as it used to work before in single player. My understanding is it's not working in multiplayer. In SP the report is still available via F1 through the entire course of the game, something I assume you have tried to prevent.
I was 99% sure I had not researched Nanotech, but 99% is not 100%. So I successfully reproduced the issue in a new game. http://i.imgur.com/d80AdTs.jpg Can provide the save file if necessary.
Another issue I noticed today: the value of owned resources that is displayed when you hover over player's name is not calculated properly. In this screenshot you can see I have no resources at all but the tooltip suggests otherwise. http://i.imgur.com/I7qSj9p.jpg
Jason, I've sent you PM earlier since I exceeded my post limit and couldn't reply in public. But now I can, so I'll repeat in case someone else encounters the same problem. Apparently, it depends on screen resolution and game resolution. My native resolution is 1920x1080, but I used to run the game in 1600x900. Once I changed to 1920x1080 the colors got back to normal (while still corrupted in the rest of them). When I changed the native resolution to 1600x900, the c
Probably not the best place to do it, but I second this suggestion. Right now I manually backup replays if I really want to be able to review the game, which is often very inconvenient since games are played back to back. Even though the files are quite large, the option to choose how many of them to save could be very helpful.
Thanks for your quick reply! Here's the output log for Nvidia card. If I can provide any additional information that might be helpful, please let me know. Hi everyone. I tried to update to beta 5 today and yesterday (2 clean installs, also tried to update from beta 4). The interface is extremely dark, next to unplayable. When I reversed back to beta 4 - everything is normal again. I'll be more than glad to send you a dxdiag report/output log/any other piece of information that can help. Just tell me what to send and where. Granted, this is an old laptop and not gaming equipment, but I used to play
