Interesting. That's something at least.
Unlocking both ladders is a bit of an experiment to see if more people will play if they know their preferred format is available. (Blues hasn't played 1v1 since before the patch, for example...) We'll see how it goes. So far, there have been MORE players in games after the patch than before, but we'll see how that goes. Not sure there is an alternate to ELO. Definitely a worst-system-except-for-all-the-other-ones situation.<
Thanks to recent patch both ladders (1v1 and 4p FFA) are unlocked simultaneously now, and the already very small community has been split once again. No offense to anyone, but between two different pissing contests, ELO system that strongly encourages top players to avoid each other and the number of concurrent players dropping below 100 again, I wonder if it'll ever be possible again to have a decent game with good competition outside tournaments. And frankly, the picture I am se

The freeze occurs when you use a hologram on a finished building of any type.
I didn't for sure, nor I think any of other players in my game did. But I used a hologram on patent lab iirc. I'll try to reproduce and report back. No luck so far.
I second Zultar's request. It's not a secret I got quite attached to old sounds (and I hate changes in general if you can't tell :P).
Same thing happened to me a few minutes ago. My initial instinct says the issue was caused by host shifting not handled correctly, but it's possible the host left after the game had frozen. I couldn't tell. Aforementioned error appears countless number of times in the log. I can also provide the entire log and replay file if needed.
I just don't like the idea people can (and unavoidably should) scan the entire map until they get the resource they want and it will wait for them without anybody noticing. You can do it right now as well, but at least you need claims to play with in order to secure newly acquired tiles.
Or you just use it on tiles you own already. I'd rather not see every game with a CS turn into a constant scanning of the entire map in search for god tiles.
Also maybe someone who hasn't lost their password (in 15445454th time) can make a post on reddit.
Quill won't be the only one streaming probably. PrimEval maybe? Too bad Morgan's pal MD is out of town. Canada really needs to pick up the pace. :P I might be able to stream for a couple of hours tomorrow as well, but I won't know for sure until tomorrow. I might even find a working mic somewhere in vicinity. Anyway, for today's stream BM had a great idea to try and make games for new players only where he can mentor them and give helpful tips.
That's the plan, will be a bit awkward, but we'll figure something out. Seems like my third world internets can handle streaming 720p@30, so we should be ok. Thanks again for your help, Morgan! :)
I can try and partially fill the gap between Morgan and Blues let's say 22:00-0:00 UTC. It's a bit late for me but I'll make special effort not to collapse due to sleep deprivation. However, I won't be able to do the commentary. So Blackmagic, if this time is good for you, I could observe and stream your PoV. Also might have a few free hours on Friday. but I will not know for sure until hm... Friday. I will be around lurking though and hopefully playing as well.<
I didn't know where to post this, so I guess here is a good place as any. I don't play many skirmishes. In a few I did play I noticed a weird pattern of claims usage. It's not consistent so I am not sure how to reproduce it, however, there was enough consistency to draw my attention. Expansives and scavengers do this ( click ) while robots tend to place all their buildings in a single chunk, which makes them exceptionally
Just so you guys know, gameplay is basically locked at this point (outside of the campaign). We can do tweaks like adjusting the debt thresholds but new functionality is not really an option anymore. Almost there!
Sooo.... when should we expect the first expansion pack? [e digicons]:D[/e] I am kidding of course, but hopefully some last minute feedback and minor UI requests are ok.
Congratulations to Heisenberg for making the most accurate prediction! [e digicons]:D[/e]
If nobody's interested I should be able to play on Saturday and with a bit of luck probably on Friday. But Saturday is safer. However, if someone actually wants the spot, they can have it.
Very very good tutorials. Not surprising, given it's Jason, nonetheless worth mentioning. Thanks guys!
That's not even the slightest bit close to anything Veivi said or implied.
It's inevitable conclusion if he thinks that a single OP spot is great for the game. Essentially the first person to claim the found determines the outcome. It doesn't matter if he loses or wins at the end. Both players get robbed of a proper game experience since it's mostly game over. The balance point he was referring t
Veivi, so you are absolutely fine with match outcome being determined by a single gambling act?
According to the bracket Pb has won already with the best score ever - 0:0. Just sayin... :)
Will do, Soren. That's a good idea! Talking specifics will be much more constructive than theorizing.
Every example about "OP spots" seems to revolve around "30ms too late", "32k vs 34k". That is totally missing the point. If the spot is REALLY that OP, then maybe it should be taken at 60k or even earlier. A bad spot at 35k does not suddenly turn OP at 30k. It just becomes a bit stronger.
It came down to 32k vs 34k because you can't found at 60k nowadays. And the necessity to take a lot of debt itself is bad. A single
