I was having an influence war with the Torians. I built several influance starbases along the boarder, and fully upgraded them. When i researched a new tech allowing for another upgrade, i upgraded one starbase, and the 4 adjoining sectors jumped TO THEIR CONTROL???? Then i loaded my autosave, and now, their culture has DOUBLED! swallowing HALF my former territory! what's up with that?!?!

Actually, i'm having 0 Miner races too...
So only thing i could think of was to reinstall the Driver Update for my card. Which i've done. And to my surpsise (even tho it's the same update i already had) Ctoss2k.sys changed file size. Sooooo I guess we'll see. Will it work? Cross your fingers. I'll letcha know.
okie dokie, tracked down the problem it would seem. So, i disabled auto-reboot. Well after 45min of play, i got another crash, but this time, i got a BSoD with some info: The problem occured in Ctoss2k.sys An attempt was made to write to read only memory. Ctoss2K.sys is a Soundblaster driver. So i am investigeting solutions now. Anything you guys can offer?
do you have a mouse wheel button?
OK, sorry for the long delay, but i had a busy couple of days there. So i'll get to everything as i read down the list. So here goes. Post #27 - CariElf: Yes it was with AA off, i deleted me prefs.ini file and restarted the game, the only thing i changed was me resolution. (i set it back up to 1280x1024) Post #28 DeltaGorno - My Card is a FireGL, not A Radeon. Technically i *could* force the catalyst drivers to work on this car
CariElf - I just had a crash with all the options turned off. there's something in the game that is seriously tripping or something, it's really weird.
i have an Enermax 660watt PSU, i seriously doubt that's the problem
CariElf - Okay, will try
The Cr@ppy thing is it's an unreproduceable problem. It's not like i can load an autosave and have the game crash at the same point. ;(
I just played for about an hour with no crashes... But that doesn't really mean the problem is gone, like i said, it's truely random...
CariElf - Yes it's an OpenGL, what's a good word, an OpenGL Optimized Card, but it still has all the full DirectX functionality as the X800 XTPE. I've never had DirectX problems with games, and i've run them all with 6x FSAA, 16x Anisotropic Filtering with fill triliniar filtering, etc... etc... DXDiag showed no problems. I tried turning FSAA and everything else off a while back, no difference. I even Used ATi Tray Tools To overide the games video
Just a thought... probably not, but just to check. The game shouldn't be triggering the Execute Disable bit on my processor eh? That would definately shut the computer down without a warning.
nope, no BSoD. Just a studder and immeadiate reboot.
debug info is up ^^^
Memory - I doubt it's the problem 2 Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2, active cooled. never had any problems with it. Heat (again) - as i stated, system is liquid cooled, and i would have had an alarm WAY be4 any component in the system became overheated

Well i'll try to respond in the order of the posts. Page File - That's not the problem. I have 1.5 Tb of Hard drive space, and a 4 Gb PageFile on 6 drives, for a total of 24 Gb. Patch - 1.0X.010, been running it for over a week now. Drivers - They are Always up to date, and yes i checked. They are the most recent. Reinstall - Not gonna do anything, these happened (although more infrequently) from day 1.<b
Well let me start off by saying this problem really hasn't bothered me that much be4, but in my new game i just started, and in the last few hours especially, this problem has increased tenfold. in the last 4 hours, GC2 has completely crashed my computer to reboot over 10 times, semmingly completely at random. I've posted some bugs be4, so i hope the devs will take this to heart. I'm not an average computer user, i work with them for a li
that'd be pretty difficult to do i'd imagine
ummm IAmGory, yes you do in fleets. You can attack once for every move you have left in fleets. If you have 12 moves for a fleet, you can attack 12 times. I've done it many many times using one fleet to wipe out planetary defenses on 3 planets that were close together.
Evil... You will come to know the full power of the dark side!!!!!!!!! muahahahahahahaha
I think that you would have to make the logos part of the texture used by the decal component, but it seems doable. I'll talk to the artists about it. They did it in homeworld2, might look into how they did it. Seemed to be done simply.
it's a problem with information warfare invasion... it's well documented. I'm sure it'll be addressed in the next patch. For now, just don't use info warfare.
