Hi, first off I dont know if this is already been done in DA. A while back another forum member said that he felt that the starbases were to easily destroyed (even fully upgraded). Having played GC II quite a lot I have to agree that they are too easily destroyed unless you leave a fleet on the same tile. My suggestion is would it be possible to give Starbases a logistic value so they can become part of a 'static' fleet? This would improve the graphics, and add a balance valu

Good idea - I like the fact you appear to have thought this one out abit, however I don't think stardock will have the the time to put this in before release though!
the only thing that I have to say about this is that not all homeworld planets are the best, I've had several games where some of my other planets have been far better than my homeworld - I would say that it would be very difficult to judge what planets are taken, I think that JK is a mega event and they are supposed to shake things up quite badly.
Hi - I've found a crash bug in gal civ 2, when playing the main campaign if you go back to the main menu, select campaign and click on re-start mission it crashes every time. This does not happen if you re-start the mission when you first load GC2, only after you have done turns in the campaign game first. I'm using the latest build from SDC. If you want a de-bug error report please post brief instructions how to do so, thanks!
Ummm, @anotherrandombastard - good point, but as sam0t said - I also watch the planet combat screen, it is supposed to represent your forces in battle and it does so a little badly - try to remember that some of the techs that you research are applied to land battles and are not represented graphically at all, such as shock troops and all pre-invasion tactics. The reason for the original post was just to ask for a slight improvement, the graphics in DA are much improved and this area has been
OK - well, this has been said before - is there any chance of the land battle graphics getting an overhaul before the final build is released? This has always been a weak part in Gal Civ 2 and is a place that could use a little work, it's been said by another forum member that the space fleet battles were really good but the land battles were poor and since large planet battles are part of the game they are just as important. as a suggestion only, why not just improve the graph
Well, what the title says really, I've got the digital beta download of Dark Avatar and I'm not that familiar with StarDock Central, what I would like to know is if it is possible to make a disk backup of the core program and how you do it. The reason I'm asking is that a recent update of the beta got corrupted somehow and I had to download the entire program from scratch - what I would like is a hard backup of the unmodified code. Anybody?
I found if that you make a custom player race that you can not create your own ship templates, but you can if you make a custom opponent.
First off thanks for the reply, - such a simple suggestion to use large fleets of small ships that I just did not think about it! I've been building massive star destroyer type ships that get blasted in one round, they look good but just don't go the distance. Thanks again!
Well as the title says really - I been playing the final (I think!) mission where you have to take the dread lords planets in the top left hand corner. I'm playing on beginner and I am under no threat from any of the seven races except the dread lords who are fighting me to a stalemate, their ships are beating mine easily (1 dread lord ship vs 4 of mine!) I cannot beat them but they will soon beat me! Any ideas or stratgies would help!
despite using computers for about 25 odd years I don't know how to attach the log to a forum post - quick instructions would be fantastic! thanks!
Thats odd - I've had exactly the same bug but in white not red! System; Windows XP service pack 2 2 GB System Ram Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.80GHz 3.79GHz (dual processors) Nvidia Geforce 7800GTX (256mb) Xear 3d on board sound chip
I also have not had that much difficulty with spies, (yet!). I do like the suggestion that evil muppet made about being able to build police buildings that could give a percentage chance of geting an agent before they are placed, this could give the player a better chance of defending a more important colony. A good idea!
I don't know - I kinda like tha way it is, why change perfection? Remember that it still has to show bases and upgrades on it clearly.
The flip side to this is have the system with dying stars have a very high credit value and high production - they should be very lucrative. If you are given warning make it a random amount of turns that you do not know! (the risk being it might blow on the next turn or anything up to the sixth turn.). It would force the player to act quickly to save people, but how far would you push it!! the player could buy colonly ships insted of building them to save time and people, altough you could pro
Just an idea for your mega events - have the best system(s) have a solar supernova event destroying the star and the entire system (and all ships in a set radius) - perhaps you could be given time to use colony ships to evacute your planets! I think that would keep you busy sorting that problem.
On the planetery screens - the discriptions and graphics of the tiles do not match, for example, I selected a mountain range on the main screen, the picture showed a mountain range but the discription said ocean. There are alot of different combinations for this, but if the planetery main map is supposed to be accurate the discription is often well off.
Playing version 1.31. I've noticed this problem before, but some planet graphics (on the main galactic map) do not update until you save and reload, is it possible to refresh the planet graphics immediately? I also get the Star graphics change the same way. A couple of Typos could be redone as well, such as on the technology screen changing 'Technology already know...' to KNOWN Also playing as Yor I researched a technological victory and the text said 'Mankind' in it a
any word from stardock on this event then?
Very odd, I've read the answers that people have posted and I can only say that I have used no cheats or mods to get this to happen. I don't recall any galactic event that caused all class 0 planet to change to habitable. I am playing a custom race though, with high luck! I also know that this was not triggered by the terraforming tech. The original post was not about this happening though - it was about the fact the class 0 planet graphics did not change until I reloaded it -
Hi All, I've had an unusual bug while playing Gal Civ 2 (ver 1.31). Set-up (Tiny galaxy, Custom race, no minor races and everything on abundant) After a very long time of play all of the Class 0 planets became habitable but the planets graphics did not change (only on the Colony Management Screen), ie a Gas Giant still looked like a Gas Giant. When I reloaded the game all the Class 0 Planets graphics changed to match the colony screen? I don't know what caused the
Bug concerning planets (class 0) playing on version 1.31. Custom race Vs Terrans - skill beginner. Tiny Map. After a very long game the terrans started to colonise class 0 planets that are in my star systems! The Gas giants and rock planets have different planet icons in the colony management screen. They look like 'earth' type planets in this screen and Gas giants on the galactic map. and a request if possible, can a decommission fleet button be created? Its quite difficu
Two bugs when playing Version 1.30A (tiny universe - on easy) Every single galactic event happened on my homeworld only (around 16 in total!) At the end of the game (technological victory) the text says "mankind.." I was playing Yor so it seems a little odd!
Hi all, I've just tested the Planetary Bonus bug that is reported in version 1.3, I just thought I'd report my findings! I selected the 20% Planetary Bonus (on a gigantic map with every setting Abundant!) and tested this on several saves (re-loading and re-starts). I can confirm that the Bonus is NOT applied to your homeworld even though the planet class says it is. On new colonised planets it does work altough there is the odd rare time when an extra tile is created but t
Hi, I just would like to ask if you could give us the option to turn off planetary lights in the game. For some reason I prefer them off.
