The engineering and project build completion bars on the planet list screens no longer work. In the previous build these depicted a yellow bar showing the level of completion. In the current build they just show a full blue bar. I do prefer the current build planet list though. Very good. Paul.

There is currently no official scientific method for numbering sectors in space. This is because sectors are arbitary. In a star-trek universe a sector in 20 light years square. Once you introduce sectors you then need to use a numbering system for them. choosing earth as zero is logical as most of the sector we would be dealing with would be close to earth. Another possible points of origin are the centre of the galaxy, but this would put earth and the local at very high numbered sectors. It is

I vote for the zero numbering (being a physicist I most definitely count as a nerd). I like Cari's suggestion of numbering sol as 0,0 and using positive and negative numbering from this. This would be good. Would that be hard to implement? Paul.

I hope you've got out of your depression phase. The workload you currently have trying to get GacCiv up and running probably doesn't help. Especially with the constant bug reports. Though Brad does point out that you're all doing it because you love it. CariElf is a good name. Have you named a solar system yet? Paul.

A ship tile is the same size as a solar system! I think a ship could avoid the debree. This is why I feel that ships should move onto the same tile. SHooting at another ship for a light year away sounds fairly daft. It is a game though, so whatever works best from a game perspective should be chosen. I must admit that I personally would like all tiles shrunk to half their height and width, movement values increased by 2, and solar systems take up 4 tiles. This would allow for a less cl

Could we add a graphical icon to ships to indicate that they are on autopilot on the main screen. Something similar to the update icon on the DGM. It would make it easier to see immediately which ships are on autopilot and which are not. I assume the final game will have tracks drawn from the ship to its destination. Paul.

Nice idea. How about a window popping up giving you the option of droping out of autopilot instead though (while mentioning the current destination). Something along the lines of 'you colony ship has noticed an anomoly while on autopilot to planet x. Do you wish to disengage autopilot and investigate?' The ship would then change it's autopilot destination to the anomoly. Once this is interacted with a pop up screen then asks 'ship has intercepted anomoly. Do you wish to restore

Cari, I certainly have no problem with friendly ships occupying the samne space. Would it be possible to change the ship icon when more than one ship occupy the same space to make it clearer? Also how will this work will allied / friendly races? Will their ships also occupy the same space and will the image change to make this easily seen? Paul.

Non combat ships in the same sector sound reasonable. It may just be simpler to only allow one ship in a single sector. Otherwise I could see interesting situations where your colony ship gets destroyed by an ally who attacked another races colony ship which was sharing your sector. This would allow for planet blocking tactics (surround a planet with cheap ships and no-one else can move there with out attacking, or move out). Paul.

Size! A colony ship or a transport must be huge to carry all the people required. I could very easily argue as a scientist that the mass of such a ship causes instabilities in the hyper drive which could do any of the following. (a) damage the hyperdrive making it a one way journey! (b) reduce the possible range (c) create a chance of exploding the ship increasing with distance! Such an simple explanation really. Completely fabricated, but works!

Quite possibly, but the situations were different. France started out with ownership of the country as oppossed to being invited in to help fight a war. I think a bigger problem was a lack of realistic objectives and the focus to achieve them. The US has learnt a lot since then. Keep wars short, focussed and with clear objectives for the population at home to see. Or else, population gets angry and the next election equals goodbye for the current government. Paul.
