Toxic Renderer

Toxic Renderer

physical correctness

Found this while researching toxic stuff.

http://www.toxicengine.org/

I was wondering if anyone has heard of it. It's still in alpha ver. 4 but dates back to 2004. An open source renderer under the GNU license. I read what little there was about it and no mention is made of whether or not its still around. As of 17 Nov. 2005 toxic 1.0 alpha 5 was released. There's nothing after that date. The moderators are dictoon, toma (which sounds familiar) and jperret. ring a bell anywhere? BTW ... I can't find any post between 2006 and 2010.

Jafo won't shoot you dead... he only has a pop gun, and he lost the cork for that. :w00t:

That's a relief. I was about to run and find a good insurance company just in case. I got a new rainy in the works.

Idea came fron RedneckDude's Hardwood

Now that looks interesting...  and would look great with Kitty's Sunken Treasure WB with a few tweaks here and there.

I just checked out Kitty's Sunken Treasure. Man ... that is some gorgeous WB. I can do some tweaks like lightening the boards and maybe pasting an image to it but I don't want to emulate her blind. A while back I was trying to do rainies for different WB's like her Frankenstein which turned out pretty good but the one after that ... well lets just say it didn't work out. I want it to be an original by me. Not that your idea isn't a really good one. As soon as I get something I'll put it here. Thanks.

Thing is, you can do a Sunken Treasure rainy and still use your own graphics.  You would only need to fiddle with the graphics you have a little (like add a few piratey emblems or something) to compliment the WB... and that was more my thought, to compliment it rather than emulate.

What you have there is distinctly different to Kitty's graphics, so it would surely be your own work...ORRIGHT???? :)

Those skulls look quite sexy... in a piratey sort of a way... tho with those fangs, they'd go well in a vampire there as well.

Tis almost ready. Think I can count on the honor system in asking that no one look in the folder before loading it into Rainlendar?

Dunno, some people are just too curious/inquisitive.... but I promise I won't peek. ;P

Some tweaking left to do but should upload tomorrow. Once this rainy is done I can start on that SMX thingy. I was looking at the psd earlier and let me tell ya, it is one complicated image. Fortunately I have sysmetrix reinstalled so I can bone up on all the details. Too bad the files were lost. I had some of the .ini made up and that in itself was a real headache.

Thing is, you're well on the way to getting it sorted.  What'd be good is if you could do a Winstep Xtreme theme with it as well.   Instead of SMX I use the desktop modules in that for my CPU and net meters, etc.  If not, I bet Webgizmos would be up for it if you asked him nicely enough... well I hope so.

I might have to start using Rainlendar again, being there's no calendar in Winstep as yet.  Might be a request I could put to Jorge, perhaps... to add a calendar to the desktop modules.

:)

If you decide to use Rainlendar again i suggest the old one as the new one doesn't allow for all of the 'gizmos' to work and besides, its too damn complicated to work with, for me anyway. I'll PM WebGizmos and see if he's interested.

I've got an old Rainlendar exe in a folder somewhere on my backup drive... so will do.

As for WG, he's pretty darned good with Winstep and docks, and I reckon he'd do a theme to match if you asked him... cos he's a real nice guy.

I know. He looks out for me sometimes. Haven't gotten a round to it yet though, asking him I mean. Ran into an aggravating glitch in the rainy and had to go back in and redo the png's. Had it up on my screen but the buttons were all skewed and didn't sit right when I moused over them. For some reason getting the buttons positioned in PS is a little difficult so I had to open them in, of all programs, paint.net. Yeah ... I still got it.

It may not be as good as PS but for now I can use it for button placement correctly. Hope to get it uploaded sometime tomorrow. Now to go put the psd's together for WG. I have his e-mail so it'll be easier to get them to him with a request all sugared up. lol

Nothing wrong with Paint.Net... Shaunna used that for ages before we finally got PSP and Photoshop Elements.

Yup, if you email WG the PSD's he'll be able to whip up a storm with 'em.... all sugared up, that'll get him fer shure. ;P

Been busy getting the rainy together. Think I got the glitches licked too. Just one more graphic to go. Should be ready by five p.m. EST. Also working on a very different concept for a wall but it may come too late for Halloween. It's based on one I did a few months ago. All I got to do is find it. lol.

So that's why the forums are dead.... there's two major contributors and one of 'em is busy. :'(

Even the galleries are starting to die off, now that they've clamped down on people doing multiple uploads.

I started of two new threads in the hope it 'd breath some life into the place, but alas. it's like pushing gunk up a drainpipe with a toothpick.

Anyhow, it's good to hear that you're that much closer to uploading your Rainy and all the best with it.

Uploaded the rainy about two hours ago. Hopefully it'll hit the gallery in time for spookiness. The wall concept I mentioned is coming along nicely I think. Still a ways to go but by this time tomorrow I'm hoping to put it to the test in the WIP thread. It's got space, a ghost, a dimensional doorway and I'm thinking of throwing in a comet or two. Oh, I sent off an e-mail to WebGizmos and told RnD about it. I also blamed it all on you so don't go off the wall if they mention it. Anyway ... all in fun and maybe we can all get together on this.

Well I hope your rainy does well... and a WIP on the wall is a good idea to gain some critique on how it's going.

Yeah, there's nothing better than a community project and getting people to skin to their specialty... and I don't mind taking the blame if something good comes of the idea, which I hope it does.

BTW, take a gander at the 'He's So Old' thread.... it's a bit of fun I got started to help liven up the forums a bit. :sun:

I was just about to. But the Doc is in there someplace. He can't resist a good jab at us old heads.

So what, we can jab right back at him... and pack twice the punch cos there's two of us.

Yeah, let's gang up on the Doc and make him feel old. :w00t:

I'm all for that. Remember the wall I told you about. It crashed and burned. Its in the wallpaper progress thread. I'll admit making walls is not something I'm all that good at. I dl'd a bunch of brushes thinking they'd work but to my surprise they really suck! I mean they are probably good for some things but not for making wallpapers. They all come out so blurry, lacking any kind of definition. I'm gonna chuck them. No use keeping what I can't use.

The rainy is up but I don't see it in the gallery. Isn't it supposed to be in the 'new' section on the home page?
