Lula if they aren't the Chosen people still then why in the world do we care about Israel?
This is both a strange and interesting question.
The Jews will always be the first chosen people. There is a supernatural relationship between Old Covenant Judaism and Christianity because both contain supernatural Revelation, being respectively, the foundation, and the culmination of the Lord God's plan of salvation.
Have you read St.Paul's letter to the Hebrews? It explains the difficulty and confusion around the time that followed after Christ's death when the first budding Jewish converts were very much still in flux between the Old Covenant Temple sacrifices and the New COvenant early Church rite of the celebrating Christ's command to "do this in commemmoration of Me" i.e. the Eucharistic Sacrifice. The confusion continued until 70AD when the Temple was destroyed.
The central idea of St. Paul's epistle is that the Mosaic Law is incapable of saving mankind which is in a fallen state becasue of Adam's Original SIn. In line with this, he proclaims the religious impermanence of the ceremonies (rites) of the Old Mosaic Law which Christ has fulfilled (completed) with the Law of the Gospel, the New and everlasting Covenant of grace. Acts 15 recounts the first assembly and the dogmatic point clarified by the Council of Jerusalem. It's not necessary for salvation for people of Gentile background to observe the ceremonial rites and regulations of the Mosaic Law. St.Paul's letter does not effect the unity, the continuim of the two COvenants as all the key figures of the Old Testament look forward to Christ and place their hope in Him. Moses and Melchizedick are respectively, "types" of the Messias and High Priest of the New Law.
Christianity is therefore the culmination of Judaism, with the result that the Mosaic religion cannot be understood without reference to the Gospel. Logically, this dogmatic principle has many implications for properly understanding the history of salvation and Judaism. The Apostle's letter was just as revelant to the life of the converts.
Just as Christianity is the fulfillment, in principle, of Judaism, so is Christ the perfection of all that Moses taught and personified.
Here are some antithesis to think about.
Moses was the giver of the Old Law, Christ was the Giver of the New Law, which was the perfection of the OL.
Moses gave the Israelites the Torah, Christ gave the world the Gospel with miracles.
Moses taught one nation; Christ taught all nations.
Moses spoke to the Lord God in a cloud; Christ saw Him face to face.
Moses revealed the nature and name of GOd--"I AM WHO AM"; Christ claimed to be the "I AM".
Moses "found favor" with the Lord God, saying "I know Thee by name." Christ heard the Father say, "This is My beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, hear ye Him."
Moses fed his people with manna and quail in the desert; CHrist fed 5,000 persons in the desert with five loaves.
Moses passed over waters of the Red Sea; Christ walked on water.
Moses divided the sea with his rod; Christ calmed the waves with His mere fiat.
Moses declared the terrors of sin;Christ saved from sin.
Moses sinned; Christ was sinless.
Moses offered the blood of animals for sacrifice; Christ offered His own Blood for Sacrifice.
Moses selected 12 spies; Christ selected 12 Apostles.
Moses seleced Joshua as his successor; Christ designated Peter as His ambassador Plenipotentiary.
Moses coming down from the mountain appeared with a shining face; Christ was transfigured on the MOunt, with countenance like the sun.
Moses was a mere man; Christ was the Lord God.
We should care (socially) about Israel just as we should care about all people.
Why was it so important in 1948 to reestablish Israel?
I don't subscribe to Christian Zionism if that's what your are referring to.
