Well i just wanted to make sure u guys knew. Because the Krynn and Korath home systems can get messed up now. In one game the Krynn system was an identical copy to my home system, right down to the customized home planet, terrain color scheme, and planet image map. And in another the Korath homeworld was a radioactive world! How'd that happen!? Guess we know why they look different than the regular drengi's. On the bright side, however, you can now actually use a differe

with your imagination and any image creation software....
You can't play against any custom races in GC2, you can however, play against as many custom races as you wish in DA.

new music, new mega events, new ethical events, new graphics for the aforementioned, etc...
Just thought i'd let u guys know in case you want to correct it right away: The definitions for the home solar systems for the Korath and Krynn were ommitted from customplanets.xml in this build (Beta 2).
Well i'll be, you released an update on us! A nice one at that. I'm liking the new game setup layout, and the new race customization layout. And i have to issue a personal thank you for the new music, the old ambient music was wearing thin on my nerves . The new tech tree interface will take some getting
oh yay! i accidentally found a big bug! *squash*
(Senator)kryoDecember 7, 2006 16:18:14Reply #5It appears that the game fills out systems with class 0 planets automatically if there are less than five planets defined. *childish voice* whyyyyyyyyy? Seriously, what about variety? All system's can't be 5 planet systems right?
I'm having problems with customplanets.xml again. So let me just ask, is it NOT possible to create a solar system with just one planet? I.E the homeworld? By making an entry such as: {StarSystem Name="CustomSystem"} {DisplayName}CustomSystem{/DisplayName} {Planet Name="CustomPlanet"} {DisplayName}CustomPlanet{/DisplayName} {Texture}gfx/planets/CustomPlanet.png{/Texture} {RAWTerrain}CustomPlanet.raw{/RAWTerrain} {TerrainPalette}CustomPalette{/TerrainP
They're in Bink Video .bik format. You'll have to use RAD Video Tools Bink Converter to convert whatever video you render.
Um, yea, MyDocuments/MyGames/Gc2DarkAvatar/Gfx/ has been working since day 1 with dark avatar. I've been using custom portraits, images, even diplo vids for my custom races since i got DA. The devs just changed the folder they belong in.
well yes i know, but that replaces the ships, planets, etc... with their tactical overlay images. I was talking about seeing the eye candy and the icon at the same time, and not having to switch back and forth, which would be really annoying.
I'm haivng probelems creating a custom star system in DA, i've followed the normal procedure i would for GC2, but it always seems to name my home system the same as my race name, as well as the planets.... Any ideas?
I often play GC2 / DA on larger maps because i enjoy a nice long game. But i also like to see at a glance everything that's going on in my empire, so I’ve gotten used to playing in the zoomed out tactical display mode. However, lately, I’ve started playing some smaller map games, and staying zoomed in so I can see some of the nice eye candy in the universe. And this is where I noticed some issues. Sometimes it's very difficult for me to see where things are zoomed in on the map wit
Did you get everything you needed?
I sent the email to [email protected] with a subject line of "[CodeCritter] - requested files - Custom Opponents Super Ability Bug". It has a RAR archive attachment (3.86MB) with all the files you requested, plus new vid clips of the symptoms as they appeared on my end as i removed the customrace files and what not. The email is from "[email protected]".
Here's a video capture of what i'm talking about... don't worry, it's a zip file, only 418Kb. You'll need the Xvid MPEG4 codec to view it tho. Here it is.
This is a new issue for me... I don't know when this happened, it's worked for me before. But when i'm customizing my opponents i can no longer change the race's super ability, whether it's a custom GC2 race, or a purely new race, i still can change it. The arrows click fine, but the ability doesn't change. I can change my own custom race's super ability in the player race screen, but can't change anyone's super ability in the opponents screen.
I have a suggestion brad, why not instead of destroying nullification agents when they are used, have them protect that tile from further spies until removed by the player? There's nothing more annoying to me than to nullify an agent on my manufacturing capital one turn, only to have another agent back there in 3 turns.
Here you go. I've played the game since that bug came up, don't know if that has any effect on what you want to see in the debug file or not, just thought i'd let u know. debug.err.zip
Ok, so i was just playing DA, just finished a turn, when the sitrep, errr GNN news report, popped up. I clicked to go to a planet and BAM! The whole screen goes red-tinted, and image box outlines are displayed, and general weirdness ensues. This was presenet on all screens, not just the one in the screenshot. A restart of the game cleared up the issue, but it was still weird enough that i thought it was worth posting. If you Devs want further info, debug.err, or a savegame (even though it's
There is one big problem with capping engine's in my opinion: Constructors. If you have a vast array of starbases, say economic starbase, that you keep updated as tech develops, it's REALLY FRUSTRATING using slow constructors to do the maintainance. I often make contructors with as many engines as possible so i can get them to a starbase in one turn so i don't have to worry about what constructor of 150 on the board is going to what starbase, and what starbase still needs upgrading, etc... et
(Citizen)ignussNovember 28, 2006 00:34:50Reply #3I think there are too few spies in my current game on a small map. well i can see there may be fewer in a smaller game, and granted i'm playing on a larger map, but wow, ok, the ratio is WAY to high right now.
ok, trying this again...
