Defense vessals aren't that much better than tecs. Not like they need changing or anything. And I think most of illums strength is coming from Malice. Without malice they'd be equal to javs at best. But this basically makes it a requirement to make mothership, unless you're going against another advent then you may use radiance to AM burn the mothership. When WEREN'T 3 of the 5 advent caps worthless? You say "now". Radiance and Mothership have only ever been the only good
I've had 9 Capital Ships be completely decimated in under 2 minutes by 50 Kodiaks (and not including my support frigates, which made the fleet sizes almost 1:1). In exchange for the Caps and support frigates, I ended up only destroying 7 enemy Kodiaks. Since then, I've done exactly what LA is talking about: using the Cap as an early Hero unit, then going straight heavy crusiers.Along with a buff for fighters and Cap armor, I think Capital Ships need an interception system, like the real l
They lead the fleet in their support.. Are you saying malice, nanites, vertigo, phase out hull, i could name like 15 more abilities, don't make a difference? If you did make caps, say, 50% more damaging.. well that's going to really imbalance them early game. Their damage per level could be raised, though.
Well Chris Taylor I'm sure has talked to Brad. :) I heard they met in person, Brad got showed around the offices, right? Also, Stardock games DO have anti-piracy, they just don't have annoying DRM(which only affects the customers that bought it, not the Pirates.)
The only thing ship AI needs improving on is the autocasting of abilities, many of them, IMO.
Not to mention cap balance.. tech tree balance.. other game balance.. I can thik of a few extra features that'd be nice. It's wayyyy better than 1.03 though.
Caps aren't meant to tear through everything. They are support ships. However if you get a battleship to a high level.. yeah those do tear through things. Part of the strategy is leveling up your caps.
i find a couple siege quite useful for rounding out a nice roid raid party
You're wrong, though.
Well it's like, why play the game at all? Why not have it just be a movie you watch? The AI does a lot for you already.
To those who said that cap ships are fine your dead wrong i played a game today where it was pointless to build them because of all the missile frigates. Its basically a whast of money to buy them when I could build more frigates when it came down to it i lost because I build 3 capships while my enemy built tons of frigates then just had one cap ship for sieging.
Yes this is the one problem. It's LRMS that are too good, not caps are too weak. A
hmm weird.in my 1.04 game last night I finally attacked an hard AI TEC after 4 hours of trying to stay alive against that bastard.he had his fleet capacy maxed where i only researched it to about 3/4 that size.judging by his fleet setup i'd say he researched at least to tier 5 but i cannot be certain of that.my hostility-research was almost at max.so there he had a fortified planet, 3 capital ships ~level 5 about 200 ships and 45 fighter squadrons.i jumped in with my 6 capital ships (6x l
You where the one telling me i don't know how to play. =]
The AI actually does seem a lot better now.. In a 3vs3 an ally dropped and AI took over, and me and my ally where completely perplexed that the AI was actually doing rather well.
Lol funny to hear the guy telling me to learn to play saying this. You haven't successfully countered heavies with LRM/Illums? It's one of the more straightforward counters..
Nope that's not what I was saying.
I like it standardized like this and all games having the random resources, it's much more interesting. :x But it wouldn't hurt to have the resource option from before.. It would be nice, instead, though to make the randoming more fair between players. Sometimes you end up with one person getting a bunch of 2/2 roids, 2/2 deserts, 4 ice/volcs, while anotehr player has 1/1 roids, deserts, 2 ice/volcs. Making the roid that is always connecting to the HW be guaranteed a 2/1 o
The siege must of just been an oversight. Advent having to pay more for siege frigs would make no sense seeing as how they have the worst siege cap. That's not to say siege frigs are ever worht it. What's it matter what they cost? They could cost 2x. You aren't going to build tec or vasari's 15% reduced cost ones anyways so I don't understand all teh threads on this. It's not like they where hardly worth their cost in 1.02 either, let alone now.
Rushing for heavy cruisers is stupid anyway, 25-30 illums + 10-15 diciples will easily take down heavy cruisers, and by then you can start pumping out your own heavies... which is what happened this morning, one of the players rushed straight for the cruisers... He got them out faster than me but his productin was too slow to fend off my larger fleet.
Lol funny to hear the guy telling me to learn to play saying this.
1. Give it an attack order.. pay attention. 2. Huh?.. ships don't sit by while there are things to kill unless your fleet orders are messed up. 3. Pay attention... 4. Set engagement rage to grav well, which is default. You hit a key on accident probably. Well actually there is some weird issue with ships ignoring and resetting orders.. 5. Interesting. Should be fixed if true.
The patch notes don't show how they added extra resources on planets, which offsets the price increase. In fact I will say that it negates it entirely and its more of a boost than anything. IF they would of increased the drone hosts cost without adding the extra resources on planets then it would of been a flat out nerf. Now the advent drone hosts are about the same price as the other two factions, which isn't to bad. Especially since you get them early. And to those saying drone hosts are
Nano weapon jammer is also a higher level tech and you have to build the building, which takes tac spots. Phasic Barrier is passive to all. They're both fine imo. brindle, Yeah. 250 damage would seem nice, except when you factor in mitigation. :) I'm not so sure it needs a buff though. Durikkan, yeah i've thought a lot that tech costs should scale based on the map size(similar to what i said for +extract rate techs). I don't think it's a bad idea, i just t
You're right, it can't be $50 premium membership for one game, Sins. It needs to be $50 for it and lots of other publishers offer things like tournaments, beta access to games, etc. If say Unreal Tournament 3 was on impulse, and there where Impulse tournaments for it, encouraged by the publisher or whatever. Or say THQ gave earlier beta access to Impulse Premium membership people, such as for Dawn of War 2. That's the kind of stuff it needs to have.. jus
I like Advent like I did in 1.02 now, pretty much. The Illums aren't exactly better, seeing as how they cost 55 crystal now, but they're at least AS good. You missed the point of my post. Yes they where buffed over 1.03, but in 1.03 they where nerfed into near uselessness from 1.02. I'm never ever using drone hosts now, though with the ridiculous cost increase. Only race I'd remotely consider using carriers now is Vasari's since their bombers are somewhat okay, but
Hmm personally i'd like a no rush timer for small maps like say 10-20 minutes depending on the size so its not a rush to get to the enemys homeworld.
This is already in. You just build frigates.
But as I so, even if you do make the tech much more worth the cost of ships. Say your big games, where you have 100+ ships(you're using 100+ all with the SAME weapon type? Thats' another thing to keep in mind) why is it bad that you get a good benefit? +7.5% damage is "countered" by +hull/shields, also getting buffed 50%. So it evens out.. It makes the techs more important. It's not like what i'm saying comes from 1vs1 games.. I play 70 planets quite a lot too.<b
