I think DX could be made judgeable by specifying what widgets would be elgible, those being the most commonly used. A DX theme could be specifically defined as well: weather, calendar, etc. Any extras, like fish blowing bubbles, could get bonus points. I'm not really campaigning for a separate DX category, but as the GUI's get bigger, it could be added. Stardock is built upon suite-making programs. A category of "Suite" would utilize all the Stardock programs

One of the main reasons I posted this is because there are a lot of skinners that don't get to take part. What about a guy like Webgizmos, for instance, or all the DX people, the cursor makers, the artists who skin the minor programs like Rainlendar? Congratulations winners. Thanks to Frogboy, Zoomba and Karmagirl for running a marvellous competition, and thanks especially to the skinners. This has been a goldmine for skinning lovers. I'm especially glad to see Treetog (number 27, folks) here, and see Tiggz, a great artist and DesktopX guy do well. Not bad for a "tired old skinner".

I'm a true believer in skinning every last icon. It's always a disappointment for me when somebody left a bunch of ugly Windows icons untouched. I grumble every time I have to look at them, but I use the package nonetheless, because what's there is so pleasing to the eye that it makes up for it. That's very disappointing to a lot of us that they can't be made available in some way, not as part of the contest, but available none the less. In any case, I can appreciate your position, at least, and thanks for clearing it up. Let's hope that the authors do indeed upload to Wincustomize. It sounds like there are some gems.

Maybe for the next Championships you should release judging guidelines in addition to the rules of qualification. My original comment was that the deduction of 20% for lack of Vista support and live folders was excessive. 2 out of a possible 10 points is huge for something that 80 per cent of users won't encounter for a while until they upgrade, and that overwhelms the artistic merit too much. Is there any chance that the rejected entries could be put in a separate "Rejected For Competition" category to make them available for download so that we don't have to depend on them being uploaded elsewhere?
