You have to think of the economy like a big pond. If you drop a huge rock into one end, you don't see the effects right away. My point is that you have to look beyond the present, beyond the current administration to see where the ripple started from. ;) While there are conditions that can worsen the ripple, it always has a starting point in the past tense. (think NAFTA and silly interest and economic policies)

WebGizmos, I do know that the dev for TinyMCE is working on a way around that. He's working directly with the Moz people. I don't have any more information than that, but the guy is great and speaks with me directly. If/When a workaround for this becomes available for the editor, I'll make sure to make a big deal about it so you know.

It's certainly doable. I'll run it by the peoples that I'm required to and see what everyone thinks. That's about as much as I can give you for feedback at this point in time. (Sorry about that). (As an aside I moved this to the Forum Issues category. You got the 'Issues' part right though ;))

Version v1.6.3188.23322 of the forums was published today. This was a hurryupomgbbqtheeditbuttonandurlsaregoingcrazy update. Fixed the edit button functionality. Restrictions removed completely. Users may now edit replies freely. Fixed a url problem with old forum urls. 404 error logging categorized. (Just a friendly reminder; Forum Update posts will be moderated with an iron fist. Please do not reply with fe

I think that's reasonable. However, we're going to need help from users like you to remind people of a post like that, and that when we say that we're working on something, we're not just pulling your leg ;) I'm eyes-deep in GUIChamps at the moment, but when that launches and I have some more time I will get a post like that started and do my best to keep that updated for both Wincustomize and the Forums. Thanks for your support unclerob!

Guys, please try and remember that we're trying to keep the posts in the Forum Issues forum on topic and about the forums. There are a few posts in the Wincustomize Site Issues forum which are discussing the Upload problems. We won't be commenting about the upload pages or main wincustomize website (www.wincustomize.com) in Forum Issues, but we will be active in discussions about that, as we're able, in the Wincustomize Site Issues forum. unclerob, nearly your

Yep. It's a 'security measure' employed by Mozilla. Not an actualy bug in the editor or the forums persae, even though it may be percieved as a bug. The workarounds that BigDogBigFeet and kryo outlined do work pretty well (thanks guys).
much like the edit button here...or a lot of other stuff in the forums now
Just a friendly request guys; please hold off on posting commentary like that in posts in the Forum Issues category. It's demoralizing and it doesn't help

Despite the best helpful efforts and suggestions of our users the simple answer is that there isnt a solution to the login problem. Now, your reaction might be something like this [e digicons]8C[/e] but there's a reason. The wincustomize main site (www.wincustomize.com) and wincustomize personal sites (user.wincustomize.com) are old. They need love. Badly. Theyre also using a different login system than the new sites are. The new sites now include the forums. (All forums for any sta

Hehe ok fellas. The last few replies have gone pretty far off topic from the discussion around Avatar/Image uploading not working for peoples. By all means please continue your discussions surrounding browsers, changes and personal philosophies, but please start up a new post about that outside of the Forum Issues category :)

If a forum has subcategories, theyre inconveniently [e digicons]:X[/e] located at the bottom of the list of posts for a particular forum category. I've been pushing to move this list to the top of the page (like every other major forum out there) but we're extremely busy at the moment and I havent had time to follow up on the matter. Alas it's not a move I can make without consulting some folks.

Bob Barr FTW. I hope to see more than two major parties before I kick the bucket. See, this is what I loathe about politics; One group of people trying to cut down another group of people for their beliefs. It never goes anywhere, and you get a discussion with so much misinformation, FUD and media regurgitation that the discussion is doomed to end up a 'he said' - 'she said' mess that doesnt go anywhere. People should just state who they like, why they like them and live and l

wimpy, I've attempted to address your unique view on our systems many times in many posts. Your reasoning is completely different than the reasons Unisin and neophil are stating for not trying out the Flickr uploader. Please hold off from injecting your views on browser/sercurity settings into this discussion any more. I know that you're passionate about it but it is nearly off topic at this point and it's not helping me to diagnose the problems that others are having.

This is actually a bug with firefox. It's been in their reporting system for a few versions now. After a certain number of pixels, they cease rendering of an element. Conversely it effects elements 'under' the problem element. I would have thought that they would have fixed this for version 3 but I guess they didnt. When I get a moment I'll try to find a link to the BugZilla entry if youre interested in reading it.

Your observation is correct. The main wincustomize website and the forums are using different login systems. Unforunately you'll have to log in seperately to both site until Wincustomize gets its much needed update.

Well guys there isnt much I can do if you're not willing to try that out for me. (there is something about your browsers on your computers that is the problem, and I would need you to test with the same browser on the same computer that you cannot upload avatars on) They dont install anything on your computer, so I'm not sure what you're worried about. Afterall, you can just stop using the account when you're done testing the upload. Use a silly picture that you dont care about, use m

I'm hoping you guys are still up for some more testing. Apparently, Yahoo uses a variation on the same component that we are using. And by extension, Flickr uses this as well. If you guys are up for it (and I hope you are) please go to http://flickr.com, sign up for a new account (if you dont have one already) and go to http://www.flickr.com/photos/upload/. Please let me know if that works for you or not.

neophile, Unisin thanks for testing those demos. I'll be using that data you've posted to see if theres anything else I can come up with for you guys.

Thanks for this. What I should really do is hide the textarea until the editor initializes. I think that's what you're seeing. As for the TinyMCE issues with Firefox 3.0.1 - Can you point me to references for that? If there is indeed an issue, I need to make an update a high priority. Just as an aside; It's a common misconception that java = javascript = jscript. Just for reference (im making big generalizations).. java = full blown language which is com

I have been told that some users have had luck with uninstalling Flash using the uninstaller available here; http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/alternates/ and then installing the latest version fresh. So that's something to try. This was specifically related to users on a French install of Windows XP. Also, neophil and others still having trouble, please try out these demos http://demo.swfupload.org/ and let me know if any of them work ok for you.

I regard the comments you've been making as constructive. So no worries. People have different preferences, and you've been very open and honest about your personal preferences and not insulting or irritating in the slightest. At present the upload pages do not require flash, but as far as I'm aware they do require that you allow cookies to be created. I know that we're having some trouble with the upload today, but it's being worked on.

Rest assured the upload process will be getting a revamp with the impending wc update later this year. Sorry that's not so much a comment on the problem *now* but I wanted to let everyone know that we've acknowledged the current process has issues.
