no formal training or experience with design techniques, and i guess that is why we get sub-standard skins and themes. How about you take your 2 cents and try to buy a clue with it, or just shove it. Formal training tends to take the art out of art, any idiot can create something given a guide. When I was 16 I made quite a bit of money doing comm

I know this doesn't exaclt fit on WinCustomize... but I couldn't think of anywhere else that would be more appropriate. I for one would like to see StarDock give ObjectMedia some love. I'm not talking about anything complicated or extreme, it's nice having a media player that isn't bloated. What I'd like to see... - Option to have it show in task bar. - Smaller tool bar - Some sorting options, IE sort by title, file name etc. - When several MP3s are ed and opened it

How exactly would converting something to Bitmap ruin it? As it is a compressionless format. Should probably try a different program to convert them in, or possible you have a low color setting ed for bitmaps when you save.

Woo, what's the point of having a poll if one side is automatically wrong. Several people seem to have a problem with this statement of mine "Its not as if WB skinning is anymore of a task, I feel quite the opposite as there's no scripting or real thinking involved at all." MindlessPuppet....try not to live up to your name quite so much. I've nev

Comparing computer software to a car is just flat out idiotic. How about you compare it to something more closely related... like other computer software. When was the last time you came across a premium winamp skin or sonique skin? Truth be told I can't think of when I ever had. The whole idea of paying for skins is pretty much limited to WindowBlind authors. Its not as if WB skinning is anymore of a task, I feel quite the opposite as there's no scripting or real thinking involved at all.

Here's my take on premium skins and whatnot. Personally I think all skins should be free, people have to pay for the software to use the skins so why ask them to spend more. However, ideally people would donate to skin authors. What seems to be outlooked is that a large group of people are quite young, and really can't spare 10 dollars or don't have a credit card and the such, they shouldn't be alienated. But it really is quite depressing how few people donate to support ANYT

Open up regedit, and in [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] change the "Shell" value, to just stop explorer from lauching either make the value blank or point it to another app. I personally reccommend DLing 'Dud' (www3.telus.net/_/dud/) and using a path to it's .exe instead of leaving the parameter blank. I'd probably starve if it weren't for pizza. As I'm sure some authors on this site can relate to, there comes day when you're working on a project for nearly 16 hours a day straight, and often you actually just forget to eat, and there's nothing quick in the refrigerater, and 5 empty bags of chips lay ate your feet... you have to order pizza. Anyhow, that's how I justify spending 18 dollars on two pizzas, which is at least 4 meals for one person in general. As towards buying software, I

ALSO! FrogBoy points out that relating DashBoard to Desktop Accessories is a strech, but it doesn't seem any further of a stretch than relating ObjectDock to Tab LaunchPad. I'd also like to point out, that Apple users do tend to think they are better and act like egomaniacs when it comes to their OS, on the other hand Windows users seem to try to do everything possible to stray away from Windows.

I think most people are missing the point. It seems to have become Apple Users Vs PC Users, but the new Apple campaign is about Apple Vs Windows. Apple isn't taking claim for the "innovations" in Tiger, but rather pointing out that they were the first to include it as part of the OS. Let's face it, if Windows natively had decent skinning support and whatnot Stardock would probably be in some trouble. Where as Apple is including features as part of its OS, Windows users must resort to running cou
