Well, I suppose it's time to add my thoughts. Comments from the judges are definitely needed. How Antares is not in the top 3 most creative is utterly mind boggling. And somehow AirLock got first, which by all means is a great solid skin, but surely isn't the most creative. My guess is most of it's so-called creativity stems from the title bar buttons being on the bottom, my point being it seems that this impressed judges who might not be as familiar with WB as the authors are. As far as

Heh, "I try and be different, thats why my downloads counts are usually low", I may know that feeling better than anyone. I hear you on it, it sucks to be honest. That's why I expect so much from the GUIOlympics. I've watched all the authors from the time I was skinning make works for commission, and become the master as you called them. Meanwhile I sort of just faded away, more than anything probably because I just flat out stopped skinning because

Isn't when someone skins for high DL counts sort of the same thing as skinning for public demand? (not sure if you're responding to DLieburn's comment or my own. )

Sort of playing devil's advocate here, but I agree with most of what DLieburn said. Many authors seem to be taking the better safe than sorry road with windowblinds. The Icon Packages thus far have been great in my opinion, each one seems to stand out on its own. As for the Winamp skins, they have been pretty impressive thus far, and I expect them only to get better because of the time needed to develop a great skin, as it involves more actual progra

The first WB skin I'm planning for a GUI Olympics submission is going to be primarily pink. I agree that there isn't enough pink/purple skins, most seem to skin to a tried and true color spectrum. But screw tried and true, it can't lead to anything interesting. I'm have about 45-55% complete of my icon package for the olympics. Should be finishing it up, hopefully by the 5th. After that I'll be frantically working on the WB skin.

I've already looked through those, I believe it only shows icons that pretain to your computer (which is why web folders and my videos don't show up for me).

Does anyone happen to have a list of icons that Icon Packager uses. I went through the lists of icons Icon Packager has for my computer but I noticed some are missing, like My Videos folder, web Folders, and a few others.

I've noticed there seems to be a difference between coloring on an LCD monitor and all other monitors. I thought maybe it was just my laptop screen but I tested it on my roommates and anothers monitor (both LCD) and they were all very close. However when I use my Trinitron monitor the color is significantly different, I screwed around with color setting on the monitor for awhile but couldn't get them to match up. I then check my CRT monitor and it was very close to the Trinitron. I've asked a fe

Well That Was What I Intended to Do, But So Much Of The Detail Is Lost By The Time I Get To 32 That It Just Looks Bad. So I Was Drawing A Seperate Icon For 128x128 - 72x72, 64x64 - 32x32, and 16x16.

I was curious what the largest icon size is. It seems to be 72, but I recall when I released CrudeMetals 2 some people were asking for 128x128 icons. I've started work on an icon set for the GUI Olympics and I would really hate to be wasting my time making 128x128 icons if they aren't supported.

Recently I downloaded the public release of skinstudio (3.00), and I'm curious, is it just me or is this the buggiest version yet. Aside from the new graphics not loading after refreshing and what not, it is almost useless using the attributes editor. It's to the point where I have to do everything through code.

Haha, thanks for the kind words. Always nice to know you and your work hasn't entirely been forgotten. Hopefully there will be another GUI olympics or similar contest soon, so I can win a copy of Object Desktop, and start skinning more actively again... Uh... not that I'm saying I would win... or anything like that... Anyhow, I have several ideas for skins. All quite like nothing I've ever seen before, including my own works. Right now I'm trying to decide which I'd like to start workin

I'm not very active in the skinning community anymore, I come around once in awhile to check out some of the new work and such. Recently I started seeing a lot of skins with only icons in the places column on the start menu. Is this a new feature of WindowBlind or Object Desktop or something? I'm not sure as my subscription ran out sometime ago, and I'm too cheap to get it renewed.

Not sure if anyone else has thought this, but it just doesn't seem right to me that an object dock icon is listed on newest additions. In general were talking about a single image entry, which should have taken no more than an hour or two to complete, and it is pushing skins which take ungodly amounts of time and work out of the Newest Additions table. As I look now I see 9 Object Dock entries. Just seems unfair that someone can make 60+ icons in for an Icon Packager theme and it gets pushed out

Hmm, I'd love to check that out, unfortunately too hard on cash right now to renew my Object Desktop subscription. Out of curiousity would that mean I'd have to start placing my Close button on the right side? Cause that wouldn't be cool...
