A New Catagory For Skinning?

I'll just be brief and not really intending to point fingers at anyone.

But after viewing a few snitty comments on some WB skins ( and I'll remind everyone that blinds are shared and if you don't like it, don't download it, simple )

The real Topic here is what about starting a catagory for " New Skinners "

Several of the " women " of WC have their own little test group. Others don't have that pleasure of being able to test their work before uploading it.

Wouldnt it be nice to be able to upload a skin just to see if your doing anything RIGHT rather than being told everything thats wrong..or worse yet, being laughed at by people that forget they once had to start somewhere .

Im happy with just tweaking others blinds. Way too much involved in skinning an entire blind.

But..a catagory that has no ratings..( doesnt have to be viewed by the public..could be just members of WC)

Just a thought.......

So, I screwed up my courage and asked for help from one of the skinners whose work I admired and who gave me some constructive criticism on one of my early attemps at skinning - Night Train. Key word here is constructive.


Betty....excellant post! I remember when I was thinking of doing my first blind...you gave me so much support! I had no clue on how to start. I also had to "screw up my courage" and ask for help...not an easy thing for me to do. I am so indebted to you, Night Train (in my humble opinion, a master at skinning!), and Karen for all the help, support, and constructive criticism. To this day, I would never be able to make a skin without all this support and help I continue to receive! As an aside, I looked at my first blind the other day, and it looks like I have made some progress, but still have a very long way to go!

I agree that a WIP forum here would be really helpful, especially for those folks who don't have anyone to call on for help.

Also, s log of the classes would be good too...I know I am one of those people who need "written" instructions!

Starone : We at Skinnalicious are doing a Windowblind turorial via live chat and we are now opening the doors for a live session on how to do a blind for those that are interested. There is a poll up at Skinnalicious asking whether you would be interested in participating in a live chat tutorial on how to do a blind. After the poll, we will be setting up a forum where you can sign up for it if interested. We will meet approximately one to two hours per session, and at a set time.


What a great idea....unfortunately..Cindi had told me to be in the live chat now you really needed cable or dsl. Im on dial-up and thats why I havent been in the live chat since the new site opened...I have replied to your email

I'm usually the opposite. Its easier for me if i'm led through a procedure verbally- step by step ...usually it sinks better. Written direction work if they have a screen shot showing me what to do or at least where I should be looking ..

I'm glad I could help you jazzy because I've never attempted a windowblind but I was happy to test out your blind along the way. Sometimes staring at the same blind hours on end you get cross-eyed

Double Zero, we also post logs of the tutorial in the forum as they are done per chat session. Gives you something to look back on. The chat tutorial is very laid back and you can ask questions on the instructions if you don't understand something so the posted log is as it is in the chat turorial (very unconventional tutorial for sure, but definitely not boring, and I might add sometimes amusing).

I have always hated sitting in chats..I am a turtle when it comes to typing, (the old "search and poke" method, lol) so I miss alot when the chat room is just flying by..I'll look for the logs, and if I have questions I'll log into Skinalicious and ask you, Cindi or whoever I can get to talk to me for 5 minutes..LoL
