Closing out 2007 With a Bang

2007 is quickly drawing to a close, and wow what a year it's been!  The new WinCustomize, Vista, Dreams, SoundPackager, Xion, WindowBlinds 6, the Charity Drive, the Alienware Contest, and more spectacular skins than you can shake a stick at!

Around this time of year, a lot of sites start doing their "Best XYZ of 2007!" lists, and I thought maybe we could get in on the fun with a few of our own lists to mark the best work of the past year.

Nominate your:

  • Favorite Skin from Library X

In order to nominate someone for consideration, post a comment below with who/what and for which category.  Nominate as many people/skins for as many categories as you like.  If you're not comfortable posting publicly, you can PM me via the forums... BUT if you're going to PM me you have to do it in a very clear format.  If you don't give me a nomination in this format, I will not count it.

Go ahead and nominate for any library you like.  However, if a library gets less than five items nominated, I won't be running a poll for it.

IconPackager - The Mayan Civilization - knightpan - Link This appears to have originated in 2006, so I don't know whether it technically qualifies, but the concept and implementation and creative and utilitarian.

Xion - Ultimax Grand - Boxxi - Link Functional and attractive

Xion - Scooby Doo - Boxxi - Link Because I'm a Scooby Doo nerd

CursorXP - Cylon - J.Aroche - Link I haven't kept up with the new Battlestar Galactica, but these are really nice cursors.

CursorXP - PROTOZOA - Chuckeye - Link Nice biological theme

WindowBlinds - Autumn Reflection - jazzymjr - Link I used this one for a while; functional and very easy on the eyes (the leaves are a nice touch).

WindowBlinds - Vampothika - kittymalone - Link I'm sorry to say that I haven't loaded up kitty's latest, Ascension, because I'm mucking around with Christmas stuff at the moment, but Vampothika is the skin where she achieved a perfect balance between her goth-fantastic artistic vision and functionality (where the former sometimes clashed with the latter in her earlier skins).

WindowBlinds - Azkaban WB 5.1 - HeirofSlytherin - Link My wife's a big Harry Potter geek, so naturally HoS's HP-themed WindowBlinds are a big hit at my house; mileage may vary for others.

My nominations for Skinner of the Year . . . jazzymjr, kittymalone, vStyler, Boxxi, imzadi, and unclerob. Sorry, there are way too many talented folks here for me to pick one (obviously the same problem I had with some of the skin categories above).

Zoomba, my only concern about a vote like this is that it probably tends to favor more recently released skins in a similar way that a simple d/l count would favor skins that were released earlier. People have notoriously short memories. Just a thought.

I can't say I have a 'skin list' of favorite skins this year.

But, I have to hand it to vStyler this year for 'Skinner of the Year'. A great number of good skins as well as starting up MaxStyles... not sure another skinner could even touch John this year on doing all that.
