Closing out 2007 With a Bang

2007 is quickly drawing to a close, and wow what a year it's been!  The new WinCustomize, Vista, Dreams, SoundPackager, Xion, WindowBlinds 6, the Charity Drive, the Alienware Contest, and more spectacular skins than you can shake a stick at!

Around this time of year, a lot of sites start doing their "Best XYZ of 2007!" lists, and I thought maybe we could get in on the fun with a few of our own lists to mark the best work of the past year.

Nominate your:

  • Favorite Skinner
  • Favorite Skin from Library X

In order to nominate someone for consideration, post a comment below with who/what and for which category.  Nominate as many people/skins for as many categories as you like.  If you're not comfortable posting publicly, you can PM me via the forums... BUT if you're going to PM me you have to do it in a very clear format.  If you don't give me a nomination in this format, I will not count it.

Warreni, Thanks for the vote. I agree mileage may very for others. Although my design is my creation based on the movies, original design and fan art couldnot compete fairly. How can there be just one skinner of the year when you have so many categories that deal with specific tastes and style not to mention sub-categories such as movies, sports, computers ect.. I think it should be SkinnerS of the Year. But if i misunderstood the voting rules, never mind :LOL: ;)

This is a varitable who's who list of some of the most gifted skinners on earth.

How about a "Skinner's Hall Of Fame?" This way everyone deserving is admitted.

You've got to place Adni18, Skinhit, MrSkope, Richard Mohler, Fuzzy Logic, Alperium, DuoPixart, JJYing, Mormegil, Treetog, Gef, Fairyy~, MikeB, Patrick24, Kenwas, Z71, Tycus, Josephs, Messiah1, Bilbo, Cavan1, vlad, ModBlackmoon, Island Dog, Cycoced, tehZero, Diafragma and APB.

Everyone of these names is World Class, and they deserve their own Bust at WC headquarters and should be allowed to skin their Bust!

Through my ranting off all the distinguished names off the top of my head, the very first name I wanted to mention was missed.

To make matters worse, my connection to WC took a dump while I was trying to clear this up.

With that being said Mr WebGizmos, my answer is a resounding NO for a bust.

Instead I'd like to say that, as far as world class talent and being one of the greatest people I've ever (or never) met in my life, you my friend would get a full statue in the front of the building and you can skin it anyway you choose!

Folks give it up to a tremendously gifted man, a respected community leader, and a wonderful friend!

WebGiz, you can say that I saved the best for last!

WB skinner is Night Train. Who else gives so much and asks so little? The quality of his work is excellent. He is a master skinner. He gives us these skins. Every skin he makes is unique. All are use able. Every skin is a work of art. All things considered he is #1.

DX themes is gef. The best that is and will ever be.

Widgets and Rainys goes to Lovely62. She doesn't show up here much anymore but her work speaks for itself.

Docks belong to WebGizmos. He has provided more in this area than anyone else. Quality and quantity.

In general I'd like to mention a few other people cause I love their work so much and they are "good people". jj ying sets a standard for excellence. vStyler ditto. Buzzh58 for some wonderful DX themes. Boss019 a long time favorite of mine. His walls rule.

People who make coming here fun: Cplair, AZDude, Fairyy, Jafo, Snidley Whiplash, kittymalone and many others.

The main thing is that ALL THE PEOPLE who contribute here deserve a good word. It can't be denied.

And should say in all fairness...for the short time Messiah :CONGRAT: has been skinning docks he has put out some awesome docks as well and has filled in the much needed gaps I was neglecting and is without a doubt a dockmaster in his own right...So can he get a statue as well....not as big as mine though mind you. ;p :LOL:

WebGizmos is the man who taught me how to make docks...without him, I probably would have given up. He was very patient with me in all my questions. And believe me, for awhile there, I was bugging him ALOT. If not for the Dockmaster General, there wouldn't be docks from messiah1.

Messiah...I appreciate the kind words...can never get enough of that :LOL: but you give me to much credit. You really didn't bug me at all. You were a quick study and you have put some really awesome stuff...made me jealous even! ;) And you've even gone on to skin some other awesome stuff. The tiles you do are really great....the Xion and Rainlender skins you've done are also great...and I can't wait to see this WB skin your working on. :D

All kidding aside....As far as I'm concerned your my equal when it comes to docks! ;)

My choices for 2007 IP's besides yours narrowed down to Damian "MrSkope" Strain's Footure, Cycoced's Post TeneBra Lux and Basj's GlassMaxX!

They were dead on your ass, but Mack to me was just too Scrumptious!

The fact that any of you even mentioned my name is more than enough for me...
I don't think of myself as a ' skinner' at all. There are far too many talented people here...

To me the real skinners are the ones that create and design the skins.

Which is why I nominated buzzh58 ( buzzh58 has been unable to be here for the past few weeks, hopefully he will be back soon ) Without his ideas and designs Im pretty hopeless in doing much right now.

The same goes for jazzmjr and Night Train - both supply me with awesome graphics to work with. Night Train gave me a ' blanket permission ' to make skins using his work.
That speaks for itself, he doesn't even feel the need to check my work...

In the end it won't matter who ' wins ' really. But I wish you all the best.
