Looking For Skin/Skinner Of The Year Nominations

Closing out 2007 With a Bang

2007 is quickly drawing to a close, and wow what a year it's been!  The new WinCustomize, Vista, Dreams, SoundPackager, Xion, WindowBlinds 6, the Charity Drive, the Alienware Contest, and more spectacular skins than you can shake a stick at!

Around this time of year, a lot of sites start doing their "Best XYZ of 2007!" lists, and I thought maybe we could get in on the fun with a few of our own lists to mark the best work of the past year.

Nominate your:

  • Favorite Skinner
  • Favorite Skin from Library X

In order to nominate someone for consideration, post a comment below with who/what and for which category.  Nominate as many people/skins for as many categories as you like.  If you're not comfortable posting publicly, you can PM me via the forums... BUT if you're going to PM me you have to do it in a very clear format.  If you don't give me a nomination in this format, I will not count it.

Go ahead and nominate for any library you like.  However, if a library gets less than five items nominated, I won't be running a poll for it.

You have to get your nomination in by end-of-day Wednesday, December 12th.  We will start running polls over the weekend to determine the favorites, with the results posted before the new year.

Why not just use the stats that WC already gathers to make this determination. It's going to be far more accurate than what you will get with a short poll?

Good point.  But then again . . people like voting, 

To capture more of the user base (there are many who don't come to the forums unless there is a problem they need help with)  This announcement might be better placed in the galleries.  But what do I know, right?

The vote is because it's more fun to get involved in it.  It'd be boring if it was just an issue of "And these are the people and skins with the most downloads this year...."  Besides, it would skew it towards skins from earlier in the year.

nobody has mentioned Alperium, download wise the guy can't be beat, check out the top 5 skinners on this site for the past 30 days, he has pretty much owned that list for months already, he's very popular and submits tons of skins, people really like his stuff. Once he gets into wb's, he'll shake up that section also.

There's no question about it IMO.
Skinner of the year has to be Night Train.
He's put out some outstanding stuff, bent over backwards to help anyone he can and never once gloated about it. He's achieved Master status yet still has yet to put one on the board for sale (why...). He's been a great example to everyone.

As I understand it John's business is skinning, same as Treetog & Mike Bryant.
Don't get me wrong......I think this has been vStyler's year for skins. Since coming over from the dark side he's made some pretty amazing stuff. His reward is financial and I wish him endless success. :)

I voted to reward those without a financial stake. It may be "unenlightened" but I think it's fair.

I would also like to propose a Member of the Year as well.
That would be none other than the distinguished Po'Smedley.
Who here hasn't had one of the best chuckles at Po's contributions just to the forums. His outstanding and dedicated spirit to this community is second to none. He's calmed many a dispute and made people feel welcomed.
