Well, I had been lucky to catch the last hour of that daily... which may or may not have been the reason of issuing the challenge ;). Here's another one, I was afraid to do similar debt-diving at first, knowing it's an 8-man... but AI doesn't seem to be able to punish you as long as you can keep up with the upgrades (Cook the Books is also a huge thing in this one). http://www.filedropper.com/replay_3 I don't re

I think I'm on to something in terms of beating the AI I have to say, for how much Soren loves Scientific, it's really surprising how badly scientific AI functions (and had functioned before) on maps with little iron. I think that's the main reason shenanigans worked this game, AI was just sitting there waiting to be killed. http://www.filedropper.com/replay_2 P.S. Beat that time, Blue
I don't think anyone ever wrote a decent guide other than Cubit, except maybe Gameslayer's short power robo advice somewhere on reddit. I think that one is fairly outdated though. I have an overview of terrain types and map types here on the forum, I'll try to rewrite it and get it on the wiki myself some time next week. Thanks for putting the wiki together by the way, you are an amazing person.
I hope every team comes up with a good team name.. that should be a necessary.
The system definitely should change because it is absolutely impossible to catch up with Cubit in the number of games and thus surpass him on the leaderboard. As for the rating decay, I believe on most chess websites (decent ones anyway) if you do not play for a while your rating becomes inactive at which point you won't be accounted for in any of the "top x" lists, which makes that high rating kinda meaningless. I doubt that a new rating system will be impl
I accidentally did some testing (cause I forgot to switch out of next_beta) too: Hovering over unscanned terrain does not reveal the the terrain type (I was testing while sitting in the QM queue; this s irrelevant if reveal map is on; also, maybe this is intended?) Hovering over resources before found does not reveal the amount that you are going to get. I didn't keep a screenshot unfortunately but I believe I saw the case when it showed that I am not consuming any
Maybe I haven't played enough lately but I'm comfortable with OMs in FFA (why do you guys call it OW? It's obviously OM!), maybe the balance between special buildings is not perfect but I think it's the most balanced build in terms of that as of yet. The PD I think is fine, last game I used it it made about 380K with VR and being exactly adjacent to the colony (but without any scavengers on the map). That's the equivalent of ~6-9 launches throughout the game, but then agai
That's probably the case, I had it happen to me a couple of times before.
What should a hologrammed tile look like then? A hologram appears as a special building mostly when it's standing on it's own or next to a mine/pump/quarry if there is no resource underneath the hologram. I don't think it's really so much of a problem of a hologram but rather of the decision to hologram a lone tile (which imo will stand out obviously enough even if it's concealed as a panel or w/e). Otherwise I mostly agree with your post, I only fear that if you r
If you call a map with adjacent water and iron a "meh" map then I imagine you have huge problems with map gen ;P My proposal sounds massive but the more I think of it the more I like it. This would not just help with the amount of resources but also with the allocation. Thi would basically create a couple extra fields of resources... which would save almost any map. But it might ruin the "easy" ones. I also don't think that 10-15% percent of the map are that terrible, perh
Well, this discussion rings a bell... I have to say I changed my opinion on resource gen in larger games, even in a 4 man FFA it's possible to conjure something on a "bad" map. However in 1v1 you need to be (almost) self-sufficient, which you do not in FFAs. So I guess resource gen becomes more important but I am 90% that ones Reveal Map becomes default in QM you will find that map gen really isn't at all that bad. All these horrible map situations are much rarer than normal,
Are you searching on the next_version? I reckon it's impossible to get a quickmatch game on the next version... Does take time on the current one too but it's not impossible
Yes, this is not at all acceptable. I'm coming for you Bluessssss!!!
InSync, I believe you had a geothermal being built that you could scrap out of and get the resources... But then the number is rather odd, cause I think it's ~4k worth of resources, not 1600
A little update from current Zultar's stream: Post-game reports still don't work. Pirates are not just invisible but also make whatever blimp you put them on top of invisible (I think that's what is happening) You get notifications about a player "building the first offworld market" (or whatever) even if the building is hologramed. You also don't enter the normal observer-mode upon loss. Someone also mentioned that a tile disguised as a
Umm, did you have nanotech? Cause if you did and it takes the value of resources from buildings into account it's somewhat cool and confusing and misleading...
I have to agree that a strong point has been made but I would argue that a shortage/surplus can really harm a player if it comes early in the game. If you have expanded your HQ to level 5, chances are you have the resources (and hopefully the time) to adjust to whatever event is taking place. But when a surplus comes at level 2 there really is no defense against it. Which is why I tend to be sceptical about people claiming "I lost because of that random " unless it came early
I really hope the auto-supply bug will be resolved quickly. So far the only option is to manually buy up input resources to keep factories running.
If I remember correctly, the game you beat me you also won the Virtual Reality patent off the auction and I refused to believe the fact that PD is useful in 1v1 and you definitely made it work, so I wouldn't say that some shortage decided the outcome (if that's the right game I am recalling). I think the changelog for beta 5 says that the effect of random shortages/surpluses will be reduced which in theory solves the problem for me. The dust storm though... I can see how it rewards pe
I'd say it's maybe better to change white to a different colour altogether, it's very hard to see when white says something in chat.
Well, considering the amount of people playing is still not that large I'm pretty sure you get paired against whoever else is playing. And even though I've had my first actual loss yesterday, I'm actually surprised to see so many good players on the list, I thought people ignore quick match completely because there's not enough challenge. Guess I was wrong.
What?! Omarrrrr! I'm coming for you! (Thanks for the statistics btw)
I kinda like your suggestions... The hologram does work fine imo, I'm not sure why people under-use it so much, your ideas do sound interesting though. As for the spy - it does hardly ever feel worth spending a BM cooldown to grab it, I try to use it when I can but it does need a buff. I'm not a fan of a spy stealing things, but lowering research speed of a building does sound somewhat more interesting. Also, I am not sure about it - but I think in a game where spies are part of the Bl
I don't really want to rewrite the stuff but there's one thing that has been updated in Beta 4 that I didn't pay attention to at first when it came out. It is the way Ice works. Apart from the fact that there's a lot more dry ice now (yay), water/dry ice are no longer terrain types on their own but rather something that goes on top of a terrain type, so you can now see the terrain under ice if you hover over it. This kinda makes resource gen much more balanced because
The fact that you say you have not seen Death Tacticus lose with that strat, I thought, implies you mean it's OP but that's besides the point. While I do build PDs now (just to prevent others from making money on them though) my general attitude towards them hasn't changed since I started playing a couple of months ago: I just don't care about them. Which I guess is a problem and proves your point and something should be done about them. I do like the day/night boost you'r
