Well i have a general question for everyone. How do you think this mod should be packaged? One High-Res mod, or seperate planet mods? If it's all in one it will be a sizable mod, on the order of 60+Mb. But individual mods would be a pain in the @rse to release. The mod (when completed) will: Replace the textures for all the races' homeworlds with new, original higher resolution versions. Replace all Class 0 planet textures with new, original higher resolution versions. R

It's more complicated than just making it match i'm afraid. But i'll be happy to give you pointers, if you still can't get a better match after that i'll look at it for you. You're going to need an advanced graphics program, something free like the GIMP, or something like Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop/Imageready. First take the texture map and do a color select and select all the oceans. With the oceans selected, greyscale the image. Adjust the brightness and contrast of the oceans t

Just did some testing and it appears that while Orbit is indeed ignored as you say, the radius settings work fine. I'll drop a message to Cari. Ok, i just checked, color me incorrect. Kryo is correct. I was basing my observation on the Iconia and Toria Rings, and i had forgotten those do not have any settings in custom planets. I forgot to lo

Yes, to my knowledge in making my High Res Planets Mod, the game (DA at least) completely ignores any specifics you input about rings (aside from the texture) in customplanets.xml. The rings on any world are always randomly sized, no matter what i do. The sizes change randomly upon making a new game (not sure about loading a savegame). But i know one thing for sure, there is no way to precisely set the diameter of planetary rings. Whether or not that's a bug is for you guys to say <img src="

LoL yes the sick greenish is the lowlands, and the reds are the higher altitudes and mountains. The yellowish/blackish soup is the beautiful Drengi Ocean. One of the most breathtaking sights on Drengi, the Great Ocean is only slightly radioactive, and the sludge layer is only 3 feet deep in some remote resort areas! Some of the fabulous activities offered in these resort areas include "Spot the fish mu

It's in Colors Menu->Adjust->Curves in PSP7. I don't know if they've moved or eliminated it in newer versions if you have one of those Ah, well no wonder i can't find it anywhere. I'm using Paint Shop Pro X (10). That tool appears not to exist any more, at least not in the same manner. You can do a brightness/contrast adjust by curves, but th

Ok, i'll post one more Raw map so you guys (and Kryo of course) can tell me if they look ok. Here's Altaria's terrain map: Assuming everything looks ok (i'm still not sure about Mars) i'm not gonna keep littering this thread with every Raw Terrain map, gotta leave a few surprises. Also on the surprise list: ALL of the class 0 planet textures

I don't know how it was done for the original game (only earth actually got a custom RAW map--everything else was random, so those didn't really need any special work). But when I did my 'Real Mars' map I did it the trial and error way and yeah it was a real pain. I've since found it a lot less painful to just use the curves tool in PSP to isolate certain grey levels to se

Me likey! These terraformed versions of Mars and Venus, will they show up when you terraform those planets in game? Currently No. Unless Kryo has something up his sleeve he'd like to divulge?? I.E. A way to make that happen, because i'd love for it to. But no, as of right now, if you want to switch them mid-game, you have to replace th

I like that one. Might make the 'shallows' a bit darker, at first glance it's not obvious which part is the water and which is the land! You mean lighter? Darker would make the ocean almost all black... I take it you mean make the shallow (less black) areas of the ocean brighter, so you can tell the color more? I think i'll release the

I don't know about tactical combat being implemented in GC3, but i'm sure there will be a GC3. With the record sales GC2 produced for Stardock, and the projected sales for DA, i can't imagine Stardock wouldn't make a GalCiv 3 for the simple fact that it would make them money. Though i beleive Stardock has AT LEAST one game slated for development before they even start on a GC3. Some sort of fa
