I don't see anyone sharing "tips or tweaks"; I only see folks posting performance numbers. If this thread is only going to be a "My SSD is faster than your SSD!" thread, then what's the value?

Have been using Directory Opus for a long time -- and recently, whenever I started it, I got a popup complaining about incompatibility with WindowBlinds -- despite both apearing to work OK. Then today, I saw in the Forums that a beta version of WindowBlinds was out. So, I downloaded and installed that. When I rebooted, Directory Opus no longer complains -- and DOES appear to skin a bit differently. Also, despite the fact that I downloaded v7.30a Beta, the about i
Tried these changes (to see if DoPus would get skinned) and got some really BAD results ... Stopped WindowBlinds. Copied the DLL file to another directory. Opened it using WordPad and found the DOPUS.EXE string. Changed that to AAAAA.AAA. Saved the changed file. Went into Program Files and renamed the wblind.dll to wblind.dlo. Copied the modified DLL file into Program Files ... Restarted WindowBlinds ... got repeated popups about file changes prev
I'm curious about how Theme Manager works -- and will get to a specific question in a bit ... I have one of the INFAMOUS Intel 915GM chipset desktops, meaning, it will NOT do Aero, because Intel designed it before Aero came out. So, when WindowBlinds (v6 or v7, I don't remember which) first came out after I acquired the Tablet PC, I tried it -- but it was rife with problems. So, after some searching through forums far and wide, I found some Themes on DevianArt that worke
I just installed WB yesterday, so I used the 7.3 version. I've been reading this thread about problems with that version. Since I still have the v7.2 download from SS, can I just install that OVER 7.3 and it will be OK? SHOULD I install that over 7.3?
Is this the same post you did elsewhere? Anyway, I'm using WB 7.3 and DoPus 10 and have noticed the same problem with drag and drop. However, the transfer progress window DOES display. But, I'm using 32-bit, not 64-bit.
I'm using DoPus v10 also, and WB 7.3 -- and have the same problem with the mouse when dragging files or folders. But, the progress screen does show. I'm using 32-bit, not 64-bit -- maybe that makes a difference.
Look through the posts in the link below, especially post #5: http://www.sevenforums.com/themes-styles/191896-there-way-make-my-w7homebasic-have-aero-transparent.html
Yeah, I understand what you'e saying. But when I first had problems, I sent an email to support to start a ticket and never received any response. The system works great without WB running, so for now, my plans are to wait until a new beta is released, or until the final is released.
I've been using WB7 since beta 1 on my non-aero tablet PC and, with the release of Beta 2, it worked much better. But, I started getting Windows Explorer lockups on a frequent basis. Tried various combinations of apps to see if any set would force or avoide a lockup -- and wasn't able to identify a specific set. When I was able to open task manager, it would show Windows Explorer at 97% and it was nearly impossible to do anything. I left the machine in that state for 1
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate RC and WindowBlinds beta 2 works fine. I didn't have to tweak anything to get it to work. On my Start menu, there are two entries for WindowBlinds under Object Desktop. Be sure that you launch the one that says (BETA2). When I installed, clicking the icon launched the Beta 1 version -- which, for me, does not work. Also, I found that the Windows 7 compliant skins tend to work the best. I've also been able to use skins compliant wi
Sorry to keep bringing this up ... but ... it's been a week since the last post, I've done two Impulse updates in that timeframe, and still, WB 7 shows the 8/5/09 date and build 191. So, any idea when we are going to actually see build 192? Also, apart from sorting the items in the Desktop tab by last update, is there any way to see what "updates" are applied when Impulse is updated?
Mirsguy: Saw the post about build 192, did the Impulse reset data, was told about Impulse update, installed it, reopened WB, saw it update WB 7 to the August 5th date -- but the version still shows as 191. Am I missing something?
Just wanted to take the time and compliment the folks on WB 7 beta 2. I had nothing but problems on my Aero-less machine with beta 1. But beta 2 works just great! I get the previews now, get a dropdown for choosing which subskin I want, and even now get to use some of my "old" favorite Vista skins. This is really great -- keep up the good work!
any chance we can get a separate section for Windows 7 windowblinds skins??
+1 for this -- as I don't see a way to "filter" just for Windows 7 compliant WB skins when doing searches.
OK, working now. To answer all the questions: 1) Impulse was not in the backup because I had installed it after I made the backup. 2) Which is why I had to install Impulse again after the restore. I had to do the restore because after installing another product, lots of standard system stuff wouldn't work anymore -- even after uninstalling that product. 3) Added My Software tab to Impulse, but upon opening it, it prompted me to input serial numbers -- which I d
Already tried that. There are only two tabs listed: Explore and Community. There is no listing for a My Software tab.
Neither accomplished anything! I did the reset. No change in the tabs. I got a notice that an update to Impulse was available. I installed that update. Still, no change to the tabs. I then clicked the link in the post, downloaded the file, and ran it. It uninstalled Impulse and installed it again. No change to the tabs.
No. There's only Explore, Community, and "+". I right-clicked the Orb and confirmed that I have pre-release stuff checked.
Had to restore my PC from an image backup. Reinstalled Impulse. Just after install, it did an upgrade. Before the restore and reinstall, there was an Apps tab that showed all my apps. Now, there is no Apps tab at all! So, how do I get that back?
With a member number as low as yours, you should know how betas work by now. And in other cases, when you participate in the testing effort, and you go to the trouble to send a trouble report (in this case, an email) to the support folks, you at leas
Have another thread on WB 7 beta related problems that just seems to have died: See https://forums.wincustomize.com/359798 Also, have read other threads that say a way to fix this get-nothing-but-windows-classic problem is to select Aero and then select a different skin. Well, since my machine doesn't support Aero, that does nothing either. Sent email to Stardock support over a week ago, have received nothing back, not even a reply. BTW, installed WB 7 on
No improvements!! Installed WB 7 in Vista. Installed OK. Skins work just fine. Uninstalled WB 6 & WB 7 from Seven. Uninstalled Impulse. Ran CC Cleaner. Reinstalled Impule. Reinstalled WB 7. Same results as before -- skins are in the proper folders but don't show up in the preview panel properly. Imported the 4 WB 7 skins, Did Rebuild List. Same results as before. So basically, it appears that WB 7 just plain does not work on
Here's the most current situation ... Was running WB6 on Vista. Installed WBA files to separate partition. Did that because I was doing weekly partition backups and didn't want to backup the skins every single time. At that time, there was only one OS on this box - Vista. That partition can be read by any OS on the box now -- Seven or Vista. Downloaded & installed Impulse. Opened Impulse, selected WB 7 & installed it. Appeared to go OK. Rebooted
OK, folks. I'm going to do two things ... First, i'm going to (temporarily) remove the WB 6 stuff from the shared volume and wipe out the contents of the local folder. Then, I'm going to reinstall Impulse and WB 7 (this time, without any WB 6 skins) and see what happens. Second, if that fails (and I suspect it will), then I'll reinstall a second time with AV and Firewall disabled. Will post results of both here.
