In my make belive job I'm a wallpaper designer and a wanna-be skinner My real job...hmmm... I could tell you, but then I'll have to kill ya'll
Are the people who rate obliged to give good ratings just because the skin was made by someone well known? Aufisch, this is exactly what it’s been targeted and the reason why a different system it’s been sought. A rating should not be based on what artist created the design. The rating should be based on how the design appeals to the individual.
Jafo. I just wanted to know if you was awake. Too much coffee and not enough sleep is clouding my spelling [Message Edited]
Dan, Wallpapers are made with the use of numerous softwares. The most commons are; PhotoShop, PaitShop, Bryce and 3D Max. You can adquire any of this programs thru the internet by visiting their websites [adobe.com, corel.com, discreet.com] Practice is always the best way to learn, but there are many tutorial sites that can help you too. Visit other threads in this messege board for similar topics on tutorails. Good luck in your proyects. <img src="http://images.stardock.com
I don’t know how exactly people base their ratings or what do they look for in a design to rate it. I base my ratings on originality, colors and usability; of course I try to stay in the vicinity of the previous ratings given by others. So if I see a design and I think it deserves a 7, but the previous ratings have been 8-9, I will fairly give it an 8. I do find rather unpleasant to know that someone gave a 5 rating to a design that for the most part have gotten 8-9. Again, people might use a di
LMAO Hahahaha. GA, no wonder I coundnt figure out the damm thing. > Thats what I get for not reading the instructions. I just read the 'Read Me' file and I now understand what you are saying. Wait, let me pick up my face f
Lusciousbeast, Bryce has a program call Bryce Lighting. I have not figure out how it workd tho' > But there are a couple of plug-in programs that work with PhotoShop that makes good lighting effect dhaval and Phoon mentioned KPT which is exellent. Eye Candy also has lighting. But I have found that using gausian blurs and the brush/pencil tool helps create a more effective lighting effect. Mainly because 'you'
Knatzz, I want to extend my congrats for reaching the big 100k. Im surprise it took this long. You do great work. I hope I get to post a congratulation post for the 200k very soon. BTW, can you make mine a Heineken <
Elvee, indeed this has been a very difficult debate and the issues in discussion are open to many type of reactions. I have posted my concerns and I stand 100% behind every word I type. I can’t speak for others for I do not control their emotions. Each person has a voice and they use it as they feel necessary. I share the view and understand the motives for what my friends have expressed, but my comments are mine alone as are theirs. It is in every human's nature to express or react to
Brad, if you read carefully on all the posts I have ever made in WC, you will find that none of them carry out any type of offensive content. Also they have never been made with the intention of creating any type of feud or ignite any 'war of words' My posts have only been an extension of my concern for any given issue that I perceive. Maybe the object or purpose of any of my posts have been lost in the sea of bad remarks and/or mockery of others, so a misjudgment it’s usually the outcome w
IMHO, I think the rating system has been somewhat fair up to this point. I also believe there are some people that hold rating privilege that shouldn’t be rating at all. I recall one person making a comment on one of my skins and said 'I gave this skin a low rating, but if you change the font color I will give you an 8' That actually struck me funny. Someone holding a rating for ransom But I think giving
Lusciousbeast, thank you for that comment. I too have found inspiration in the work of many artists here, amoung them, You. Thank you also for the interest and the suggestion for my webpage. At the moment its an unfinished proyect, its not even registered. I created it for the sole purpose of posting the designs that were not passing moderation here at WC. But If I decide to expand it, I will surely keep your proposition in mind. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/images/smiles/smile.gif"
My name keeps popping up on these threads, and some how I just feel compel to respond. Brad, as well elaborated as this thread is, I think the title stretches a little beyond reality. I don’t think the issues in debate or the way they have been discussed are motives to brand us or any group of people for that matter, as a ‘GANG’. I don’t think it would be fair that someone will come here and call everyone here a ‘gang’ just because a common interest is shared. Just the way I don’t think it w
Hmmmm... Point taken Brad. No body of evidence, no crime commited. Right? I guess I should have save that screeshot when I reached 300.000 d/ls but then again, someone might have jumped in and say I added some extra zeros. Oh well, I guess I should return all my downloads since I remove all my work?
#51 by Scribe Frogboy - 7/27/2003 3:24:47 PM As for AP67, for someone who's downloaded so much from the site, I'd think you would feel some sort of...well responsibility to give something back. Just because you've bought software from Stardock doesn't even begin to cover the costs of running this site. I just did a total count of the designs I have
DavidK, you mean to tell me that all this rude responses filled with all type of sarcasm and mockery whenever an artist or user post or shows any type of concern in regards to a certain topic is normal to you? Is this the type of behavior you will expect from people? If an admin, moderator, or any staff member feels the need to vent about anything, we must remain calm and sympathize with their
Brad you have been reading me all wrong. I never stated I dont like WC. I never stated this is a bad site. I became a member of this site for the simple reason that it has lots of good things in it. I went from a regular user to a contributor when I started submiting my walldesings, I later became a costumer when I purchase some of the products from Stardock and added skins to my contribution. It was in this site that I learn to skin and came across a lot of great artists. My issues
#41 by Developer JayG - 7/27/2003 1:39:28 PM these fly by night primadonas come and go like the seasons. i had never heard of apocolypse67 and his userid is 513520 which shows he couldn't have been around very long. #20 by Scribe Fuzzy Logic - 7/27/2003 10:43:33 AM The only thing childish here is people packing their bags just because their work isn't good enough to pass moderation. Actually my work is more than good to pass moderation. 300.000 plus downloads in less than 4 months proved that. <TABLE cellpadding=8 width="95%" align=center bgColor=
#9 by Scribe Fuzzy Logic - 7/27/2003 2:32:44 AM Wallpaper artists are ten a penny. This is exactly the attitute and response that have many artists unhappy in WC and perhaps the reason why many are taken for granted. One would think that staff members and management would be more polite and professional about the way they go about dealing with
Hello Styl. The reasons why I remove my work from WC are mine alone and somewhat personal. If you read some of the threads on the message board you will know more or less why I came to such decision. My work can now be found at my webpage http://www.geocities.com/apocalypse_67/ or at DA http://apocalypse67.deviantart.com/ Im stil keeping an eye out for your great work Styl
