....why did you click when you got steam messaged? You can turn off steam visual notifications too. I don't think there's any games that actually take steam messages into account when designing their UI. What would your solution to this problem be? There is no real space on the UI for the black market to be anywhere else. I cannot help but think this particular problem is something you should take into account and avoid on your own...

From the ones I can remember: Pirates are invisible. UI is even slower than before. Tooltips take longer to create. insynchOTC in stream was complaining that it was completly black and unusable. Post-game report cannot be seen Unconfirmed, but engineering labs seem slower than normal. It says 60 seconds, feels more like 80. IDK if it's jsut me or what. EDIT: after testing in single-player, the issu

I personally find shortages and surpluses perfectly fine in a 1 vs 1 scenario. They are important for scav players and affect the market enough to force transitions and change of play. Some peopel complain with things like a carbon shortage can win scav the game, but it also means they can't transition as much and their upgrades cost more. It also makes an offworld transition almost impossible. This is similar for steel as well. Food sortages are a bit strong for scientific but an expansi

Yeah, unless you know it's there and you actively look for it, your not gonna find it. Once you do find it however it's quite easy to be on the look-out for. Basic colour theory suggests that this might be because the indicator is in blue, which looks the most pleasing to my eyes compared to any other colour that could be there, and is easily distinguishable from the background of the map (mars is red afterall), but blue just doesn't stand out in our eyes as somethign to worry abo

Considering 7 of those losses are due to match-making failures rather than actual losses, and the 1 loss I did have I literally fell asleep at my computer whilst playing... I'm happy where I stand :P Seriously though, good work guys for being active in the match-making. The more active you are, the higher the skill level of the pool as a whole rises. Now, if only I could figure out why there's a tie column....

The hologram can already make buildings invisible. The ability to control what the hologram shows would be neat, but hard to implement into the current UI, since the UI is cluttered enough already. I honestly consider holograms to be a decent item right now, it just depends on how effect an offworld market is in that particular game, but adding a pwoer cost might be a bit too much of a nerf. Spies are things I buy if I am a scavenger and in 1 vs 1 or 4 player games. Kno

I absolutly agree that the pleasure dome is boring and offers little coutner play. The main reason why I feel it needs changing is that for all other buildings both the input and output of a building is doubled when you boost it. Even when you boost special buildings, to send 2 shipments you need to spend the resources to send 2 shipments. To research 2 thigns you ened to spend the cost to research 2 things. It is consistent accross the board, except with the pelasure dome. Teh reaosn why the

lossless. Howeevr the colony will always be putting pressure on every resource, so ideally try not to sell and then buy again, although the difference is like $1 per 200 units.

all steel costs. Hover over a building in the menu to see what it costs. Expansive spend only half steel for all buildings EXCEPT the HQ upgrade and I think the offworld market (the offworld is reduced by 25%).

This start is viable in 4 player games provided every other play goes scientific. That strategy is hard to do, you need to be patient and know when to upgrade, and ofcourse this is not including the fact that late game your still a robotic, which is probably the weakest late game HQ. But yes,i t can absolutly work on lower player games provided you know which HQ's others are picking. Scavenger uses very little power, and expansive make their own easily, so you have to adjust your expectat

Just had a quick match game where I recieved a new claim randomly. Incase you thought this bug was fixed, it isn't :P If you want the replay of the game, you can find it here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gwai1x4g0qklrxz/replay.bin?dl=0

it then reverts to being treated like scavenger. You'd think this would be an advantage to scientific, and in some ways it is, but it also makes scientific buyouts more appealing to the non-scinetific players, so people try to kill them off more than the other HQ's :P

7 Replies 18,444 Views

Basically, if you buy out the scientific player you don't gain the ability to build scientific buildings. Everything new is treated like a scavenger HQ built it no matter what. However, the current buildings on the map that you bought are still scientific buildings, and they still get the bonus.

There's always the offworld tradign company reddit! https://www.reddit.com/r/Offworld/ There's me, and incdzn and deathcarboose and.... yerand?.... yeah, go team reddit! woo! Seriosuly though, there's a small community which actively looks at new threads, we just don't make any. If you want to try to start a discussion there i'm sure you'd get as much traffic as in these forums.

I cannot help but disagree with this post overall, especially because beta 4 has cut the productivity of buildings significantly because of the adjacency bonuses. Perhaps if you was refering to single player I woudl agree with you, but in multiplayer you have to check what is being produced and what you expect the trends are going to be in order to make the most money. Chems usualy crash when everyones level 5, food crashes at level 3 if there's scientifics in the game, electronics become

Yeah, this bug with the AI making choices always crops up in other games like Endless Legend and civ, so I believe you :P and as for point 3 if someone else crashes out you get given the loss I believe.

Sound like it's working as designed then. In reveal map the amount of debt you get depends on how long you wait before founding. If your insta-founding then you should lose. This wasn't punishing enough before, and along with other things caused mohawk to introduce the current bonds system. Just be more patient before choosing a spot.

Cubits maths always seemed confusing to me however, so I just over-esimate by saying 1 tile = 0.2 units of fuel. Thankfully, in the next patch, beta 4, you will be able to hover over a building and see how much fuel is being consumed.

The spy does other things as well, such as show you if a building has a goon squad on it, as well as what the building is doing if it's a special building (such as sending oxygen with 23 seconds left to go). However, I feel that if holograms are on their own then they are potentially too powerful, so I woudl be ok with the pairing
Again, I think you misunderstand my point. As I said before, it's when I buyout a different player that I don't know where my new allocations are. ~edit~ I appreciate your advice, but it really feels like you are talking down to me and not actually reading what I'm saying. I understand adjacency bonuses and how to remember where I place buildings.
I absolutly agree with you,

1) yes. Hovering over the tooltip will display the amount you would gain. This is halved for each pleasure dome currently on the map. 2) Once a company has a patent it is unavailable to any other company. Future patches will likely change this, but for now yes. 3) No. The colonys demands increase the more colony buildings there are. The colony slowly builds buildings overtime on their own in multiplayer, and in the campaign you can build those man

Yes, the UI could do with some significant improvements. There's a lot that is hidden behind tooltips in order to make the UI seem less cluttered, but I would like to at least have the option for more advanced features. I personally would also like for example the ability to always see how much % a person has to buying out my company, so that I can see when someone is stock piling cash for something, rather than having to look through all the tooltips manually. Currently however,
