I feel like having multiple graphs and keeping each one fairly simple is what we should be aming for so that you can figure out roughly what happened at a glance. Afterall, we have an insane resource graph in the game and no one ever uses that :P This isn't something that would be used in a powerpoint presentation or anything like that, we have space to play around with stuff. The graphs target audience to me is weaker players or people who simply watch, they want to have an idea

You sure your gonna be able to win that key back tommorrow? :P And free links to a free guide, classy :P
I had a long arguement planend about how the late-game strength of the hacker arrays coupled with the psychology of destroy buyout naturally leads to a hack-off late game but without destroy buyout that becomes a much less viable option and so doesn't affect the base game, but then I decided I'm too lazy to do that, so instead I'll tell everyone the secrets to counter it: Don't ctrl+shift+down, buy small amounts of resources you don't own whenever your opponents sell them
I don't know which is scarier, that graph or the fact that I understand it :P
Majority without destroy has a much larger impact on a game when alone than with destroy, bercause with destroy buyout people just don't bother defending other players. When a buy is so powerful everyone focusses on stock much more. A guy starts to go for a buy? the person being bought suddenly has defence. Dynamic alliances form on the fly as the stocks become rainbow coloured, because when 2 guys own part of your stock, you want to hamstring the clear leader and have those 2 start killi
I mentioned that mohawk likes to ties these 2 together, not that they are! Nearly every stream zultar has played with majority buyout on and destroy buyout off, so if you want data you can look there
Scratch everything I said, in actually available at that time. FEEL THE GUILT SOREN!!
It's times like this I wish steam had a way of sending files...
Thanks for the offer soren but I can't make tommorrow at that time, I come home at 11am EDT. Let's jsut let this play out, and when blues/PB wins the finals 2-0 we can have a showmatch :P And don't feel guilty about it, I should have been the one to put my footdown and demand a review of the tapes, and at least this way we have not set a potentially dangerous precedent of 'if your in a winning position and DC, you still get the win'. The way I see it
I am definitely not against the idea of more and more stat analysis, I'm just making it known that corewin, to me, was a compelte and utter non-factor. Even if he was at 80% of me I would decide not to buy him because I knew my economy woudl be just so much better and he'd never hit that 100%. You can clearly see it in the first 2 games where I was in the front seat I would ignore corewin entirely because he was a non-factor. Once I took a back-seat in the rest of the game others migh
Really good thoughts, This is why I am power whoring myself on data collection of the tournament games with these settings, I personally feel I see DBO working in favor of the winning player as many times as it hurts the first player to do so. But I do think the mind set around the mechanic is not as intuitive as it would seem. I am also fully aware that DBO is not popular by any means [e digicons]XD[/e] although the games
Blues, Gameslayer, Zuzani, corewin: blues: 2 Gameslayer: 2 but was told he didn't win game 2 even thoguh he very clearly did zuzani: 1 corewin: 0 <button title="Click to show/hide content" onclick="if(document.getElementById('spoiler') .style.display=='none') {document.getElementById('spoiler') .style.display=''}else{document.getElementById('spoiler') .style.display='none'}" type="butto
i want these implemented! MORE GRAPHS, MORE!!!
The devs aren't gonna answer that, because any answer they give will just alienate some portion of their playerbase, and I agree that it shoudl not be answwered, so I'll answer what I can for them and then they can distance themselves from this answer if anything bad comes of it. 1. The default state has always been in my eyes 4 player FFA. 1 vs 1 is also balanced for, but the main priority has always been 4 player FFA. 2. Usually yes, how
are you sure the + and - are the wrong way around? To me the + on the right seems the most logical...
Cubez did some streams which you can find over at http://www.twitch.tv/chri594f Cubit might have streamed some too. That's like, 6 matches at least right there to look through :P
Oh indeed, I am not objecting to the tournament, my practise sessions just preparing for it have been eye opening. Just getting my foot in the door so to speak :P
I prefer destroy buyout because when I purchase someone, I don't lose the sense of ownership of what is going on in the game. When I buy someone out, there's a tremendous influx of resource throughput, but I have no idea what I have. The cognitive load often doubles and it's not a welcome feeling, it's not a "yay, I did something good" for me, I get even more snowblind to all the decisions that have to be made. I l
I believe destroy buyout to be a good example of the inherantly flawed idea of preventing natural steamrolling in this game as it removes, from the players perspective, his agency and ability to make decisions which allow him to win. Agency is an interesting word. In video games it's often used to talk about a lack of agency, a lack of meaningful options available to the player, many times used to describe a story in which no matter what you do you follow a linear path and chan
oh, and another thing, desroy buyout still doesn't work with the stock price formula's properly, even in 4 mans. We talked about not getting enough stock price from a buyout before but it still is not enough. In the late game a person with 2 bases, 4 offworlds, no debt and 400K cash has stock price of $55. A single player on 2 offworlds, no debt, 3 stocks in the player on 2 bases and 700K cash has a stock price of $51. Now, that sounds difficult to understand without a screenshot, but
Currently when you buy someone who already owned someone else, you only get 1 persons worth of claims for it. This leads to a situation where the leader both has a higher stock price and you don't get more for the purchase to make up for it, basically meaning that in games without debt spiraling as soon as someone gets a buy the game is over, because the remaning players have to go for eachother rather than the stronger player. I suspect this will have some impact in the upcoming tourname
So as not to deviate from the thread to much I will just say that in the original testing for destroy buyout with me and zutlars stream we talked about not getting enough stock value for buying peopel out and it was leading to stalemates. You fixed it for 4 player games, but it still doesn't work enough for 6 and 8 player games. Before it becomes a rule change that might be worth looking into. Also when you buy someone out who alreayd owns someone you only get 1 persons worth of claims, m
I can make the tuesday and the wednesday one, but would prefer tuesday. University starts next week for me and my schedule is bonkers on mondays and thursdays, but i can make it on pretty much any day after 10am EDT except for monday and thursday, my games on those days would have to be later.
there are a lot of inactive steam groups in the world, and this game has pleanty as well :P
