I heard this question a lot recently, generally around level 9 or greater. For the most part, people know that you can stack HP items, but what I think people haven't necessarily looked at, is the amazing power of specific consumeable that goes well with this strategy: Instant Cast Sigil of Vitality: Temporarily increase maximum health by 50% for 20 seconds Your minions have +100 Health So, let's say a level 10 beast has the follow

Excellent points. A few other things that should be noted: If you use an interrupt (True interrupt, pounce, penitence, deep freeze) on a target who is ALREADY stunned, it will end the stun. So if beast grabs someone, and you penitence the target, they will be free. Save your pounces/penitence until after they are out of the stun! The only time you cause the cool down timer to 'tick off' is when you actually interrupt the spell in mid cast (The progre
Mines Regulus is, to me, the official "I'm really annoying but I never win" build. Personally I'm glad it exists so that I don't have to deal with many DPS Regs, which are actually threatening after a while. FYI my perceptions are based on the 2v2 and 3v3 games I play with my team. If yours are different because you play in pugs a lot - thats why.
Odd, I had them exactly reversed. Generally the DPS reg seems to just not
TB has a tendency to focus on burst damage, not prolonged damage, so I'd say he can have the hardest time killing her. That said, he does have two rather good tools in his belt, both in his ICE form: Deep Freeze, and Ice Nova. The Deep Freeze can count a heal while it is being cast, and/or prevent one from being cast. Most of the time, deep freezing her is the same as a silence for the duration listed (5,6,7 seconds) in addition to possible damage. Hit it when she is
Mines are Regulus' only good burst damage skill, and they start off TERRIBLE. Mine 1 is even worse in my opinion than Hammer Slam 1. No bones about it, both are very good skills in the long run, for the DG that uses them. I think the only reason people have a problem with mines, is the same reason they get angry about general's getting DG kills. For some reason mines CANNOT be an offensive mechanism in their minds. If mines only worked on defense, they would suck.
This is really hard to judge. I mean, if I were to think "Hey, I'm not horribly athletic" would that mean that VG's took that away? Honestly, only way to know for sure is if I would be more athletic if I wasn't playing games, which is hard to prove.
I don't think crit procs WOULD effect it, but rather that things that apply buffs would. I think that's what that bit of code I wrote did. Simple to test though, are sniped targets maimed?
I have started doing exactly this with my friends actually, mainly because we want a better game. When I host by myself, I put in 'no premades' and when I host with friends, we put in 'premade' into title. Honestly, stomping pugs isn't that much fun, unless you get a few good players, and it is a bit closer. We have not omitted the 'premade' tag in the past because we like stomping people, but rather because we thought after a while there would be better players on average, whic
he's right about the XvX encounters, some situations can differentiate players. For instance, when you meet with a sedna + [insert dg here] group ALWAYS target sedna first, otherwise she will just heal back anyone. This is a common mistake even among good players...they just attack the tanks with 6k hp and leave sedna alone.
Except... not always hehe. Sometimes a Sedna will have 4500 hit points, healing someone with 2500.
Well, the thing is, that the range dictates when you can activate the ability. Depending on when this code is run (And it looks like it should be done at point of firing) then someone can move outside of your range in the two seconds while you fire. Since this code itself has no cap, then the damage could be greater. The interesting part here is that if this is executed when the ability is targeted, not after the casting time, then that means that 'running towards' a regulus who

Behold the Power of the GPG poster, so great that he CANNOT BE QUOTED without causing the forum itself to contort. "Scheduled Maintenance for July 1-2: GPG will make a post on the boards, and rupture space-time. May cause boards to go down during the day."
There is a built in randomness on most damage in the game that accounts for this discrepancy. It is a small amount, but will still result in what you're seeing. It is intentional.
Frame it, point a spotlight at it, and then tell visitors not to take pictures. We have a BLUE response!
Early priests is definitely worth it now, especially on maps with neutral portal flags. Priests have always been effective at pushing a lane, and now they no longer cause the defender to push back with epic lewtz. I feel the risk/reward scenario is much tighter. When on the offensive, picking up priests has been a big help.
A consequence of reducing the importance of the HP items is that dps items become much more predominant. In other words, Auto-attack will be used much more to kill. Heroes that rely on bursty skills will suffer from a lack of compelling item choices because of this.
I am pretty certain that if you look at games, the amount of burst damage done with abilities is often more predicated by mana availability. Even TB can run hims
I was going to reply to Obscenitor in an item by item list, but I realized he must be addressing someone elses post. Obviously my main points were in the problem with the very cheapest items (0 to 2k gold range) needing to be toned down, whereas he completely talks about the artifact shop. For what it is worth, I agree that most of the high end items you'll want to buy are damage items. But that's generally due to their being very few 'awesome' high end HP i
Top spread sheet is wrong by the way, rook has 240 starting armor, just about the lowest in the game, not close to the highest.
I use both impulse and steam actually. Steam is almost always the better program right now however. It simply has more and better features. You have some anecdotes about it not working right? You aren't necessarily the majority, or close to it.
I have grown significantly more fond of minions of late, just needed to learn how to use them better.
Heh, well, they are both grenades AND proxy mines though. That's the beaut of them. Regulus is absolutely mana dependent, he gets about the worst mana flow innately of any DG. Also, in regards to snipe... it is just like any other Demigod, in that you simply need to know what the opponent can do to you. It's like seeing an unclean beast and not appreciating he might spit/ooze/grasp you for a couple thousand damage, if given the chance. Many tim
I have beaten teams like yours, who focused more on DG killing, and less on winning the game. You have to remember that while there are good things about killing a DG, for sure, that ultimately you need to win by killing the citadel (except in Slaughter). You think you played better, but if they had a higher warscore, but were dead most of the time, then you were making a very bad strategic mistake. You either didn't press your advantage by upping your troops, or you let t
Hammerslam is perfectly viable at all levels, you just need a little practice with it. Things to practice: Cancelling the hammerslam before it goes off. Chases someone away, if they do NOT run, simply fail to cancel, and gasp, hit instead. Anticipating an opponents move. You know that TB is about to fireball you, so start slamming him when he goes into the animation, or start a little early, and if you are right, you get a good solid hit, if you are wrong, and h
I played with a guy the other day, who really hurt the team bad. I checked up on his pantheon stats after the game, and noticed some amazing things. First of all, he was like 8-22. That's a big one right there. Secondly his games list had games saying "Pro only" and games that said "Noob Only". What is up with that? As mrappard said, self assessment of skills is very poor. I recall a study that showed that the asse
I think wards should just be invisible to enemies. Saves you the time as an opponent of trying to 'kill' them, when you first start playing.
Honestly, save the slots on boots and wand, and just get a few 450 gold rejuv potions. Instead of running, stay and kill them.
