This is true of every game - DG is not unique. Most games hire community managers who's whole job is to manage the communicty scene. It's analogous to a customer care center. People who are happy with a product never call a customer care center. All communication with the developers is through this person who can filter out all the vitriol. Stardock has many game communities. Sins of a Solar Empire and Gal

I feel really bad for players like the Original Poster. They don't know about demigoddb.com , they probably don't understand how favor works, and they will get no information from other players online. Single player game is generally so easy you won't learn about these things either. Further more, while there are plenty of 'good players only' games, there are very few 'noobs only' games. Most of the people who would be concientous enough to create them... aren't noobs anym

Unfortunately, I think Brad has gone through, and felt, the reason why most companies refrain from 'direct' customer contact. You get sucked into the 'highs' of people responding to your promises and your deeds. However, when things go 'bad' or the community thinks they do, then they turn on you pretty quick. This is the nature of how people act on the internet. And because you made a personal attempt to discuss things with the community, when they get angry, you end up taki
But playing with people you know is a pre-made. You have an idea of how they play, of their skill level and of how well you work together even if it is a vague one, but it's already giving you the "lol premade advantage".
But they played randomly together. I mean, you can't just tell people not to join your game because they happened to play the last game with you. It isn't like we friended each other an

Every Rook build needs 1 point in power of the Tower. Giving your allies a teleport target is EASILY worth 400 mana and a skill point. I generally get it at level 1, but I think getting it at, say , level 8 isn't too bad either.

I think Cosmoe is actually wrong. Look at the entire list of games played by WIP_PT during that period. They only sometimes contain the same people, and all games were played in a 2 hour period. Seems more like they just kept rejoining the same games. They weren't even ALWAYS on the same team, meaning they weren't hosting together. I've hosted 'no premade' games with similar results before, the same people keep joining and I end up with similar teams a few game

Answer to main post: I think yes, the game would be better. It just wouldn't feel like it for a while, because everyone would have to be sad that the favor item they were going to use isn't available. (Well, almost everyone). I think the game would end up significantly better balanced however. Would this be the best change to make? Probably not, but it would at least be in the correct direction.
You have to wait at the item shop? Banded is 500, and Tele and Health are both 250, right? That's an even 500. Or if you go scaled armor you save 50 gp and could get your observation totem anyways. I've never needed to wait at the item shop to grab my usual banded/tele/health kit as UB.
Banded is 550, health is 275, tele is 250. Total is 1075.
Any reasoning behind going Totem of Revelation, BTW, and not going Banded/Health/Tele Scroll at level 1? I find an increasingly common tactice among assassins (or rather, "non monk buyers") is to buy a tele scroll and tele to the front for an immediate flag capture, normally gold mines, or the health flag on Cataract, the debilitate flag, etc.
You spend too much time waiting at the item shop if you get health + teleport... and u
Quoting SoFFacet, reply 18 No, not really. I'm coming out with an extra 600 armor and 500 health and +5 HPS over the monk user. I'm going to hit them harder and can absorb more hits. In an opening 1v1 on a lane I'm going to hold my own until it becomes 2v1. And let's face it, that's what really happens in a game. It doesn't matter a whit I can hold a lane 1v1 for 45 seconds and a monk user can hold it for 5

Whenever someone dies, they generally 'hate' the thing that killed them. Be it penitence, pounce, or Snipe. If they see two opponents with that thing, they hate it more. They rarely blame more than one thing at a time, so a variety of things that can kill you aren't so bad. Thus, doubles makes them the most sad, so they think it is unbalanced. It is about as rational as anyone who cries about any game mechanic that they do not understand.
2. Monk heals are not reliable in combat. You can't count on them to heal you when you need it. So you end up relying on your own heal anyhow.
If they aren't healing you, it is because they have already healed you. If you are looking at your monks while running away with 100 hit points thinking "See they aren't healing me right now!" then you probably missed the fact they healed you once already

A few notes on Monks/priests/etc They have a range that they heal in. They cannot heal someone outside that range. Just because you are stunned, doesn't mean they are. If you are, for instance, running away by giving a long move command to your and your army, and get foul grasped, your monks will continue running on... outside of your range. Monks heal 10% of your total HP. Increasing your HP total makes them heal more. This includes the ever awe

Spit 2 doubles the damage of the first one and is really powerful at level 4. After that I can't find the mana to support spit and grasp with the Scaled Helm and boots. One more heal, maybe two, from a scaled helm isn't going to heal as much as two monks healing for 20 seconds. Just

My assertion is that except for only some crazy corner cases, generals are always served best by picking up some monks when they leave the item shop at beginning of game. Some info: Monks heal 10% of a DG's health, and can chain heal the same DG every 8.5 seconds QoT, without any HP boosting favor item, has 1450 hit points at level one, and heals 145 health from monks, an additional 17 HP per second. Monks heal in 'bursts' meaning that if you get hit
