There's an easy-to-use mail notifier available free from DynAdvance.com that will sit in your notification area.

Happy 9th Anniversary deviantART. I'm not a member (yet), but a frequent visitor. A great complementary site to WC, and a source of excellent material and ideas. So Happy Birthday to you and many more to come. [e digicons]5*[/e] [e digicons][/e]

I've noticed when I click on skin thumbnails in the galleries to go to the skin's download screen there's a reference to Referrals just to the right of the Comments click. These Referral links can take you to ads or in my case with one of my skins to a blank page with the message "Hi". As a newbie what are Referrals and are they best left alone?

I recently found this post thanks to Angus, and I've just finished reading it. A most helpful post, but I was just wondering - is a promotion permanent, or is it ever reversed, where, for example, the member may be resting on his/her laurels and not pulling their weight? Also, is an Exile permanent, or are there various levels of severity, where the exiled member might be let back in at a later date? Finally, if a member breaks the site rules, but not too seriously, are they immediately exile

If a member has uploaded a wall to the competition, can he/she also upload it to another gallery, e.g. the Logon Gallery, or is it best to wait until the contest is over? By the way, the competition is a great idea. It's just great to see the different interpretations of skinners on a common theme.

I installed LogonStudio Vista for my eldest granddaughter, as she wanted to use a photo of herself as her Logon screen. Also setup Fences for a few friends, and installed the Nuonsoft Wallpaper cycler for another. However, its ObjectDock that draws the most wows, especially the animated docklets. But when they realise its not a simple one click setup, they promptly lose interest. [e digicons][/e]

I dont understand why you consider moderator placement in your Personal Gallery a shameful reflection on the uploaded item, or its author. I've come across uploads in these galleries that would put many of the uploads that made the Public Galleries to shame (he he). Granted, stuff in the Personal Galleries doesnt get the same "download exposure" as that in the Public ones. But the whole idea of uploading is to share your work with others, not to count downloads. So stop feeling glum and

Thanks folks for all your help. I'm trying out Rocketdock now. Its good and does what I wanted, but you know it looks a bit different to OD even with the same background in use. I'll go for OD Plus when the next paycheck comes in.

I use the free version of ObjectDock, but I have too many apps (docklets) to fit visually on one dock, so I have two docks. OD free allows me to create and save several docks, but only one can be displayed and therefore used at any one time. To switch docks I have to open the OD Properties window, select Themes, select and open the new dock. Apply the dock and finally close the window. This is cumbersome to say the least. Is it possible to string these mouse clicks into one "meta" click that cou

Thank you for the karma Wizard. Just noticed my karma changed from +9 to +6 he he. Actually it was always +3 but for some odd reason it recently kept showing as +9 - WC gremlins![e digicons][/e]

For any Windows Sidebar users, there's a new gadget available for download from the Microsoft Vista Sidebar site called AutoHide (posted by Steve). Unlike previous gadgets which just hid the sidebar and made it difficult to restore, this gadget will, once enabled and after a user set time delay, slide the entire sidebar off screen leaving an inobtrusive arrow, which when mouse-overed will slide the sidebar back in to view. Just thought I'd share.

I've been using Bootskin (free version) v1.02 from Impulse now for some time. I have no problems applying downloaded skins. Using Vista Home Premium SP2 32 bit. Looking forward to the standalone for purchase version (coming "soon"). True there's no load bar, and the skin does'nt remain on screen until the Logon screen takes over, but I understand that these are Microsoft issues. Well done Stardock on a neat piece of work.
