I just downloaded the new 10.8 version of Windowblinds. I tried installing it as an administrator and regularly. I keep getting " A decompression error has occurred (#2026) . I didn't have Windowblinds installed for a long time. So there was no need to uninstall. It always gets this error as soon as I reach the Acrylic 7 folder. I assume that is a sample skin. I did a reboot between each attempt. <img src="https://cdn.s

IMHO I don't put the lack of "warm fuzzies" at the feet of Ashampoo. I feel sure that when Stardock sent out the email marketing Ashampoo 11, that they knew version 12 had already been released by Ashampoo. I bought version 11 a few hours after the Stardock email arrived, and got the offer to upgrade to 12 that same evening. I really wouldn't have had a problem if Stardock had just included in their email something to the effect of "Get Ashampoo Backup Pro 11 for just 25% of

I like the roll-up of the fences categorized, but I would love it if there was a setting to have the mouse over of the title display the icons in that fence on the top level. This is a question about is there already a way to do it, that I have missed. Or it is a request for some future version. I usually work with several windows open. I have my fences located on the top and bottom edges. So when I need to open another program, I have to close every window I hav

I got an email from Stardock about buying Ashampoo Backup Pro 11 for $9.99 last night and purchased it. As soon as I got through installing it, I got an ad suggesting that I upgrade to Ashampoo Backup Pro 12. I went back and re-read the email from Stardock to see if it indicated the version they were selling is not the current version. I didn't find anything. I was surprised that Stardock sold an out of date piece of software and didn't say anything about it in the mar

Will Stardock Design be updating their Windowblinds to Win 10? I really doubt that SD will make the investment of time an labor to do much of any more updates to Windowblinds in general, much less the older skins. I asked the question about the decline of skinning, and even it didn't get much response. If there isn't a profit in it for them, it doesn't make sense for a business. This thread has been officially hijacked by coffee fanatics. Mountain Dew is my caffeine fix. While we are on the subject of updating WB skins, do you think there has been a decline of "skinning" or modifying later versions of Windows in general? [e digicons]:maybe:[/e]

" Too bad, Starbucks will be losing a long time paying customer, since 2001" I feel sure the author meant Stardock will be losing a customer, but with the decrease of skinners Starbucks may have lost a few caffeine addicts as well [e digicons][/e] Sorry, I couldn't help myself [e digicons]:|[/e] [e digicons]:omg:[/e] [e digicons][/e] <span

Thanks for the OldNewExplorer tip. I was curious if those "Win10 Ready", "WB7 Ready" images are given by Wincustomize after some approval process, or are they left to the discretion of the artist, when they feel that they have reached that level of compatibility?

There aren't many new free WB skins these days. I have around six old skins I made for XP. Most were rated six stars, so I feel like I at least have a decent foundation to build on. How do I go about updating them to get the Windows 7, 8, and 10 ready badge for my skins? Please keep in mind, I am an old fart 10 years out of practice on making skins. Thanks in advance for any help, you can offer.

I have no filters turned on, and there are no skins at all listed under explore windowblinds. There are none on the sidebar for popular windowblinds for yesterday, last 30 days, or all time. There is a full list under Top Windowblinds skinners. But when you click on one of their names there still no skins. It is like the entire database of skins is gone. I am not complaining, I am asking a question. I noticed that between version 8.12 and 8.13 there was six months. The biggest thing pointed out, that it was now Chrome compatible. For those six months, Chrome held over 64% of market according to w3schools.com, over 60% for the past year, and over 50% since February of 2013. The official release of Windows 10, has been out for three months. I have no idea of what the industry standard lag time would be, if the

Thanks, I get it. Don't uninstall it. For my sake and anyone else following this thread, what sort of problems arise if you do uninstall it? I got off track, and I know this is the windowblinds thread, so if this post should be moved to another section, please do so.

When I upgraded to Windows 10, I had Icon Packager installed, and still do. What happens if you try to uninstall it? As a matter of fact, after installing Windows 10, I applied a different icon package, and at least on my desktop icons all got changed, and I haven't had any problems yet. Should I try to install the default icons again, or what?

Hi marly4, it was the same Stardock employee, not two different ones. I fully agree that I should not have assumed that Stardock had not brought the information up to date on the Website, just because most companies do. And as paultrolley said, we are only talking about $10 here, so it isn't a big deal financially. I bought Start 10, and will get Windowblinds 10 whether it is free or I pay for it. I am just trying to point out that the rollout of what used to be

Okay, I know I am going to get lambasted for this, but I'd like to share this anyway. First let me say, that I am using Windowblinds 8 on Windows 10. I've found the right combination of settings and skin to make it workable for me. There are issues but I can live with them. The reason for this post is to address the "free upgrade" status, when a Windowblinds 10 is released. On July 29th, the very same day the official Windows 10 OS was released, I purch

You can install Windowblinds 8.12 on the final release (July 29,2015) of Windows 10, by using the compatibility mode. I suggest letting Windows 10 choose the compatibility settings. I have been using it pretty much ever since the 29th. It does do weird things with the programs on the task bar, but it is functional. There is an up and down arrow to the far right of the task bar, which allows you to get to the other running programs, that aren't immediately visible.

On July 30th, I installed the official release of Windows 10. I made the mistake, that I expect many others made of quickly reading through the forums. I saw some post about Windowblinds 8 working on Windows 10, and did not read the official Stardock section, saying that it didn't support it. I had kept mt Object Desktop subscription, in force from its inception until last year. This time around, I just bought Windowblinds 8 (newest version), and Windows Start Menu
