Yep. As soon as she starts it, the usage goes to 100%, and as soon as she closes WB, the usage goes back down to 2% to 3%. I steered her away from CPU intensive OD apps like Windows FX. I'm just surprised that WB is slamming her CPU like that. I read about several people have problems with a single skin, so I got her to try about 5 different skins (all that were very small in K size), and the result was always the same. Any Thoughts?</font

I'm running XP Pro with service pack 2 and have none of the problems you describe with WindowBlinds. I think you have some other issue like video driver, or WB program corruption.

100% CPU Usage in WindowBlinds JoeUser Forums

I just bought a friend of mine the full ObjectDesktop package as a Christmas present. She is running an T1150 e-machine with a 1.3GHz Celeron CPU and 384 Megs of RAM. As soon as she loads WindowBlinds the CPU usage goes to 100%. The task manager shows Explorer.exe as the program using all the CPU. It is running Windows XP Pro, with service pack 1. I've run into that with Firefox 1.0, Windows XP Pro w/service pack 2. It seems to happen right when I change the WB skin to a new one. As soon as I go to a new page, it settles back down. Maybe Riddlin is in order for a hyper browser

I've uploaded some stuff, and after reading these post, I'm not sure if they were lost or just didn't make it past the approval moderators. I don't know if it would be a big issue, but if an item didn't make it past the approvers an e-mail that the item was declined would be nice. At least that way we know it is not a glitch. I think the top priority should be to get the upload/update functions working correctly. Especially since the primary function of the board is to get people to do work for free, and upload it. Thi is so you can resell it in collections to help cover bandwidth cost, as well as just having the vast gallery to draw people to the site to increase ad revenue. I've found another bug. You can't update preview images on existing items. It doesn't overwrite the old one. Secondly, you can't seem to delete any of your own items. After I couldn't update the image, I decided, I'll just delete the item entirely, change the file names, and try it that way. Since I couldn't delete the item, I couldn't do it. I use PhotoShop for all my graphic stuff other than ray tracing. The thing that helped the most with bootskins was using an "adaptive" palette. It looks at all the colors in the picture and chooses the 16 that are most prevalent. That way when the number of colors is reduced it looks the closest to the original. The Skin Studio uses a fixed palette and you end up with with a really grainy result. The other trick is to be sure when you save the bmp file to make sure it is saved in 4 bit dept

After enjoying all the great work on here by others, I decided to make a humble attempt at making a Window Blinds 4 skin. 3D Browsing isn't that new of an idea. I was webmaster of Virtual Reality Mall (now defunct), and worked on the VRML (Virtual Reality Markup Language) version of the Yahoo search engine. The biggest issue in my opinion, is that the navigation system of the 3D browsers isn't easy enough for most users. Aside from the fact that most people can't think 3 dimensionally. Hey.. it worked for Kirk in Star Trek.
