from the looks of the screen shot you will be able to do skirmishes vs the AI as you could in the earlier versions, but no real singleplayer mode and you'll probably have to start a multiplayer game and then adding bots.

what about giving assassins minions as well (no special minion though and their skills aren't so much minion buffing as those of the generals (at least I hope so)? Alternatively they could give the assassins something only they possess, something which is based around exact timing to get the full effect.
the problem with denying (the amount of denying which is already in Demigod is too much already imo) is that it is so horribly illogic to kill own units that could still damage the enemy just because of the Dota game rules. I prefer games where I must keep my units alive, not where I have to destroy them. And I prefer games where I need to prevent overkill instead of dealing 150 on a creep with 5 hp left just because I need to do that to get the money. I wouldn't ever compare denying/last hit
I won't deny minorities are overrepresented in that crimes, but even if you exclude them it is way above those of other industrialized countries, so taking that as explanation is a bit cheap (and won't solve the problem either) as it doesn't explain why the murder rate of non-hispanic whites (3 per 100.000) is two to three times higher than in other industrialized countries. I am not saying that would go down with stricter gun control, the world would be a better place if it was so easy to ju
yah it is open source and for earlier versions there had already been some spinoffs which removed all the "spying" stuff (and hopefully didn't add new one hehe)
An Alpha Release of a new version is not really comparable to an alpha release to new program. the Opera developers are quite good when it comes to security and especially when it comes to fixing known security problems http://www.favbrowser.com/web-browsers-security-opera-internet-explorer-safari-firefox/ If you are using IE 7 you should be very careful ri
I can understand when people need weapons to feel safe but this "guns are needed to claim civil rights against government" is a bit strange considering two of the most successful revolutions of the 20th century had been accomplished by being peaceful: India and eastern Germany. People chanted "no violence" and it worked; I don't even want to imagine what the Communist Parties of Russia and Eastern Germany had done if there had been 70000 gun-wielding demonstrants on 9th october 1989 in
militias and people in selfdefense have those rights as well if they are defending their own country.
not everyone is able to spend 2000$/€ on Maya. and it would be perfectly possible to make an editor for Demigod, I mean just because it is 3d meshes doesn't mean it isn't possible. Take a look at all the Quake, Unreal, Half-Life editors out there. Even a simple tiled based editor would work just as well in demigod as in Red Alert I. I really hope someone writes a unofficial editor for Demigod.
I would appreciate if you link to statistics about murders/severe injuries during burglary by class/income for the USA and UK. George Harrison was attacked by a psychopath not a "normal burglar", and no free society can do anything against psychopaths, I mean maybe he would have shot him but it wouldn't have prevented the psychopath from trying. gun control usually doesn't mean that people aren't allowed to carry guns in most europe countries just that they have to pass some t
flag locking not only locking the capture-aspect but also stopping the flag effect from working sounds really interesting.
slipperySnake, if you kill lots of creeps you will get lots of money, no need for last hitting in that. A giant gives around 650 Gold or so, split equally to all those who are nearby.
XP is not based on lasthit either in dota, just money is. (I am not entirely sure if the money is distributed equally instead of given to a player if the creeps/towers kill someone or if it isn't rewarded at all and I am too lazy to test with beta2 only a few days away)
Svenitor, as far as I know the problems happened because of having non-standard letters like äöüâáà etc in your windows login-name or in any of the folders Demigod saves files to. (I think in some languages some system folders unfortunately have non-standard characters). I'd strongely hope they fixed that problem by now, but if it is your username causing the problem you can circumvent that problem if they didn't.
1) We do have denying of some sort in Demigod already 2) We already have last-hitting (for Demigods only) I admit that will be special situations instead of common ones in Dota but then I feeled that the normal "focusing fire to quickly reduce enemy firepower while preventing overkilling enemies" mechanic every RTS possesses is more suited for Demigod than the Dota mechanic. I mean attacking an enemy creep who has 1 hp left just to get the money instead of switching to another
Tyrande Whisperwind of course ;)
I really don't see how it is different from a well made ranked system using elo scores with limited search range for matchmaking. In Supcom a player with an elo of 2000 is only matched up vs players with a score between 1750 and 2250 and a player with 1600 is only matched up with a player between 1350 and 1850. that is more or less like your tiers except that they are more dynamic compared to having 6 fixed tiers. The rating difference in which players are matched up in supcom is rath
OrleanKnight, your points are all valid, but I think that this 2-3 Month Tournament will be already exactly like that.
a system which still retains the competitive element, but doesn't force it upon players.
Custom games? like in every RTS which is out there already? In fact the majority of most RTS player mostly or even exclusively plays those.
Allows players of different skill levels to be equally rewarded for victories in tournaments of their t
Have you ever watched gaming tournaments on television? The youths I see there are very obese and out of shape, they focus intensely on a readily available game at the cost of their own health
uhm I dunno I can't think of one korean pro gamer that is fat, not even of one that has a BMI more than ~25 (just a rough guess don't have exact figures). Those guys spend 2-3 Hours each day with physical training as you need a well-shaped body to compete, thats the same for ches
yes I strongly feel casual players should be praised, prized, and rewarded 100% equal to that of Hardcore gamers. Making it where there is no different for someone who players all day long, and someone who plays for an hour during their lunch break. Games which support a hardcore crowd and reward them for having little, or no life needs to come to an end as it is eating away at our standards of life and mentality. beta2 will have a few (or maybe even many) patches as had beta1. The numbers are just used to distinguish between beta1 = engine test ; beta2 = gameplay and balance test and beta3 = final polishing.
massing a single unit usually works in singleplayer because RTS AIs are all very weak. Thats because from a AI standpoint of view RTS is a lot more complex than TBS and in TBS the AI can think a lot longer than it can in RTS. But in good RTS (Starcraft, Supreme Commander) you need to constantely adapt and remix your army to have a chance to win.
why so much hate for RTS? If you don't like it then leave it.
Think of how the simple gameplay of Tetris begins with a slow pace, allowing for more careful decisions and placement of tiles, and also how it progress in speed and requires less and less thought and more reaction or reflex based actions.
I'd say you need just as much thought in every stage of tetris, just that the time you have to think is lower. The ability to think quickly is one of the key elemen
alt+right click is attackmove now.
there are items as well in dota... (Jinx ninja posted me) Guys seriously withhold discussion about this until we at least see beta2 and then discuss in a polite manner without bashing others or other games. I think the planned Item count is something between 70 and 100 or so, there are like 40-50 in it currently I think.
