Daggum seanw3! That shot really shows a scale difference. Is that from the strategic map view or tactical?
Derek has confirmed that "tactical" battles will be blank room scenarios, whereas that map shows a chasm with a creature in it. Also the thing with the book on top loos very much strategic map scaled.

Something I've noticed is that shooters tend to be primarily a teenager thing. Why that is I couldn't really say.
The notion of pirates' eyes lighting up at a game without DRM is pretty naive. Pirates crack everything. The only question is whether it's everywhere the day of release or just the week of release. Also I don't know that 5:1 is really all that bad.
Quoting GeneralEtrius, reply 2Give or take 20 years and it will happen. I hope it never happens. Yeah, it would be nice to have more historically accurate/practical weapons, instead of just swords and axes everywhere.
Damn, this game is great. Just played through the whole demo (which is substantial) and buying the full game now. I don't even normally like this sort of game, but I'm loving this one. Regarding the guy in the video's criticism of the humor: It's more like it's humor about the characters than about the references dropped. The main character just happens to be a reference-dropping guy, because he contextualizes things in terms of his experiences. And the references
I got the mail today as well.
Derek made a post a few days ago explaining why the delay on the beta is happening. The thread is "Iteration." Go have a read, and you will understand they want a more polished version before letting the community get there hands on it. As we all know, the best advertising is word of mouth, and if we receive something of polish (minus a few bugs, cause we need something to do), it will provide a much better experience for all, and

Well, I was wrong and you guys were all right. Carry on.
By the way, the news is over here: https://forums.elementalgame.com/413876 If anyone missed it.
You know, some of us would be happy with a beta in the current state, even if it's still far from the ideals that it shoots for. Plus opening the beta when systems are being revised means the whole community can contribute ideas for system revision, and while there are a lot of ideas that are impractical for whatever reason, there can be some gems. That said, taking the time you need is a good thing. I hope you can use this extension to recons

I hadn't seen the second video, but it didn't have anything we don't know. Except that Derek is like half a foot taller than Jon.
I would only like that if quick battles worked realistically, instead of randomly, bizarrely or contradictory to what the normal results of a tactical battle would be.
I'm pretty sure that's a goal regardless.
It's only been a couple days, guys. I want it too, but they've probably still got some cleanup they want to do before we get it and find a bunch of new things to complain about.
Brad, judging from your posts it sounds like you're having some brain busting difficultly with the game's AI. To cut down a chunk out of your work, why not restrict tactical battle confrontations to special unit and hero lead armies only? This opens up more time with focus on other AI pursuits and it comes out as a feature because a hero is now more *cough* heroic. Edit:
It sounds like there's no possibility of FE not being good though; apart from all the positive stuff we know about it, they're actually going to give it a proper beta (apparently) which should get problems remedied.
The bottom line is we're trying to be very careful in how we spread out the beta. We're talking tens of thousands of people here that will be relying on a lot of new infrastructure that's never been through one of these (it's not like we have Impulse anymore to distribute our betas). It'll happen in pretty rapid succession.
When you say "rapid succession" is that rapid from the perspective of impatient users or

But if characters are dying right and left, you don't form emotional attachments to them. Thus high champion mortality is bad regardless of mechanical effect.
If I am attacking the AI, I would always target their heroes at the beginning of the war, holding mine b
I don't like immortality. Limited mortality for important characters is a positive thing, but if a champion can never die, that's silly and robs us of a goodly portion of the thrill of combat. They should be free agents after the defeat of their empire, sure. Champions should also be able to defect, but that should be very rare, only a couple times in a long game. That way when it does happen it's more compelling. This could also be related to a captive system; captivated
Nenjin: It's not a question so much of whether I'm getting my money's worth as it is of whether I want to support the company. Skyrim is a fun game that's well made (bugs notwithstanding) which I have and will continue to sink quite a few hours into. I thus prefer to own it legally for moral reasons. I also wanted to indicate with my money that the PC is a viable market, in the hopes that Bethesda will put more focus on it in the future. But I don't want to indicate that t
