Someone mentioned copying this into this thread from the discord Just reading these suggestions I agree with most of them, but would like to point out a few things. 1) Scav is weak in FFA, but relatively stronger in 1v1s. Any sort of buff might make them overpowered in the 1v1 matchup, so I would be cautious about that. 2) If Pirates gave as much resources as mules then they would be flat out better

No it does not matter. One of the primary aspects of scientist is that they need a large number of tiles, but are indifferent to the quality of those tiles.
Idea would be to index-link price changes in stocks to constellations of resources...
My mistake. I misunderstood. What would be the benefit of doing that over just buying up those resources in whatever proportions you want to invest in, though? If you're thinking buying the stock doesn't affect the price than that would be kind of op as the only balancing factor in the hacker array is that as you
Actually, it's quite possible to play the market, but it's best used as a supplement to your existing production rather than a substitute. You have to know what you're doing. When a resource is being consumed but not produced (such as the constant demand of life support) then you know the price will rise and it is wise to stockpile. When a resource is being overproduced (such as when you're competing in the same market as your opponents) then the price is falling and it is wis
1) The marsdaq "Record" statistics for players stopped updating at some point a month or two ago and haven't moved since. If you check my records by HQ with 1v1 selected you can see that I have 10 expansive wins, 9 robotic wins, 28 scavenger wins, and 3 science wins (50 wins total). But my total number of 1v1 wins is actually 75. This doesn't match my 21 4FFA wins either
Copy/pasted from discord by request of Soren. If I understand correctly auctions for advanced buildings like optimization centers don't start until at least day 3, correct? Did you forget to take ceres' short days into account? I keep seeing day 3 (equivalent to mars hour 17) auctions for valuable buildings in ceres replays. See Zultar's stream here (game #1) for an example of this.<
The variety is good as it keeps you on your toes (which is one of the best things about this game).
I would agree if I didn't absolutely hate ceres. Offworld trading company is built around planning and foresight, but prices on ceres are volatile and unpredictable. There's always some resource that ends up winning the game, but you never really know what that resource is until it happen
You aren't the only one that feels this way, but the official word from Soren is "No".
Indeed it is. Don't worry about managing expectations, even a surprising number of multiplayer players have trouble with management difficulty AI. I would move into MP before that and return to managing expectations once you have some competitive experience.
You know you don't have to buy stock one at a time, right? You can just hold down shift and buy them out all at once if you have the money. It's generally not recommended since whoever buys stock first gets it for cheaper (as buying stock raises your stock price), but it can be done. It's always been this way. At least as long as I've been playing.
I'm up for the 1v1 tournament.
Just got another replay where the AI founded on opposite side of map from its resources
Stef Verzelen and I are in as a team.
Oops, this should be fixed.
Sure, I'm always up for a 1v1 tournament.
Thanks, I'll give it a look when I get a chance.
Cool, thanks much Soren. I don't know if you can realistically access my replays stored online, but my recent skirmish game 7/4 at 9:55pm is the one I was talking about with 72k debt.
It's not the game's job to babysit your prices! It's YOUR job to know what markets your in and how well they are doing. That's the entire point of the game. Autobuy needs to be able to buy at a loss because the calculated value of a resource is frequently very different from the actual value. Only a player will have a good sense of real value, and thus these decisions need to be left to the players. For example, what if you anticipate a massive increase
I managed to get some of the replays I was talking about. AI Grabs a good expansive location and grabs high carbon at opposite side of map at start. AI Lands scavenger on opposite side of its carbon source. Only nearby carbon is on countdown. <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/download/f3xaod1h
There's a few ways to handle it when you go into a stall and NOTHING is making money. When you're a low level and stall you need to avoid black market because you REALLY need the money to upgrade and open up new markets. Always black market attacking is a good rule of thumb, but you really need to know when $3k is worth more than 90 seconds of your opponent's time. Aside from that you kind of have to grin and bare it. Beyond level 1 and 2 you some better opt
Is there any way to download a replay that's available online? I have a bunch of good examples of what I'm talking about, but the replays have either been overwritten or are stored on a different computer. I can watch them in my match history, but I have no idea how to get the files themselves. Edit: I tried the temp folder, but it seems the file that's left there can't be run as a replay, not even if you change the extension. Probably compressed or something.
Hi Soren, Did you guys break the AI or something about a month or two ago? I can't help but think the AI's game took a massive drop in quality recently and is making some abysmal decisions I don't think I've ever seen before. Things like founding with 70k or more debt and just imploding, letting critically important claim auctions go for 10k when the AI is struggling with a low level, and grabbing carbon tiles on the opposite side of the map as a
Don't feel too bad. The AI is actually decently tough when played on equal terms. Only high levels players can beat them consistently/easily. I'd recommend watching high level tournament play and delving into some live PVP experience against actual players at this point. Then you can come back and take that pesky manager level AI.
Edit: Actually, nevermind.
Here are the replays from all the games! All 45 of them... https://www.dropbox.com/s/esnbdty3gri849x/June%201v1.rar?dl=0
My game vs DeathTacticus was, hands down, my closest match of the tournament, if anyone wants a suggestion.
DT noticed a bug and I confirmed it during the tournament. Custom lobby names don't work. The default lobby name always appears when players are looking for lobby games.
