A big thank you out there to our vets!! A moment of silence for those vets who have died in service of their country. Absolutely!

...correct me if I am wrong here), we are the only country to celebrate May 24 as Victoria day. We don't celebrate it here in the UK. Heh, suckers!

If they are closed why did I see a stardock rep on? the guy that was on was frogboy. I sent him a Pm and he rudely ignored it. Maybe he is taking personal time because he loves the game (that's what I'm doing). Maybe he ignored it because you've been acting like a spoiled four year old all day. Life is full of questions... Indeed. I remember he was in the airport once waiting to go on holiday, and used h

Hi Frogboy, thanks for asking us for more input (again!). I can't think of many events that haven't already been suggested or included in the game, but this is one I suggested on the previous Ideas thread: - The game takes all of the sectors on the map and randomly shuffles them. Everything in the sector (stars, planets, ships, starbases) are transported with that sector to their new position on the map. It would really shake up the game. My only other request is that we h

The battle system still works as it did before. It seems that strategic weapons and defence planning are no longer a part of this game. You used to be able to look at your opponent's ship and equip your fighters with the correct weapons and defence to beat it. Now, it does not matter which weapon or defence you use. If and attacker with only lasers attacks a ship with no shields, it should be reducing the hit point

I've just been to the GC2 wiki, and most of the pages have the bare minimum of text. It really needs someone to write some decent articles on the game's mechanics. If I had the answers I would gladly do it, but the whole reason I went there is because I don't. The numbers and formulae behind this game are too complicated and not documented properly. For example: I wanted to check out the tech "Planetary Improvements". I know it gives +10 to each kind of production, but I don't know what

Hi! Maybe I don't understand, but if I have a plaent with 10,000 RP's, i would have a technological victory in no time. They play for score, not just for victory. BR, Iztok Ohhhhhh ok. i guess that makes sense then. Not sure I'd ever have interest in possibly giving up a game to get points. Or worse....drag out a game I know i'm going to win anyway. To me,

I've seen screenshots on this forum of someone using a wall of ships, but that was ages ago. I think it was on a hard difficulty level, and they walled themselves in while building up military starbases. Yeah that's right, it was in a thread about military starbase spam. Then when he didn't need the wall he upgraded the tiny hulls to fighters and the military bases made them virtually indestructable.

I know it sucks Brad, but you will get some sucky customers. I worked for a telecom company for a while, and I was amazed by the number of rude people who call in. My favourite was a woman who had not paid her bills for like 6 months and got cut off. She finally paid, but there was a 24 hour delay in reconnecting her line. She got really nasty about it and started telling me how the phone box she was in was dirty and we don't take care of it. LMAO.

That guy has the same taste in ship names as I do. I really enjoyed that. I know some people want to know all the numbers and stats and stuff like that, but it was easy to read, and the hummour was great.

Maybe you could do just that? Instead of 'hardcoding' the text, you could just add a bit of code that displays the information already in the XML? Yeah. In my opinion, no matter how pretty a description is, its no good if you don't see the numbers.

I enjoyed Civ 3 the most, but I like 3 and 4 about the same. You now have to have massive armies as a peace player if you want to avoid being attacked, because you need a counter for everything they might throw at you, and the enemy likes pillaging, A LOT. It doesn't help that towns and villages take ages to develop either. Combat in 4 has become a micromanagement nightmare, and for a traditionally peaceful player, it often drags you kicking and screaming into war mode. Diplomacy is ne

Just so we have some sort of a tally: I purchased the game (and add-on) for the advanced AI and no cheating. I have a two-year old and a fairly busy life-style and enjoy playing 5-10 turns at a time on gigantic maps. While this bug did not really effect me before (as I did not know about it), I'm having a hard time getting myself to load up the game and play my standard 5-10 turn session. Call it a "gamer's block" or something, but even though it is p

A good definition of poverty would help define this discussion, too. Is it living in a mud hut and picking through camel dung for grain? Or is it not being able to pay the rent on your 3-bedroom, air conditioned apartment? And what is it that we want the minimum standard of living to be? Yes, that would be useful to know. How are we defining poverty? Also, why is Capitalist poverty worse than any other kind of poverty? North Korea is about as f

My vote would have been yes, but I just have to say no, since they started dangling the carrot of a constructor overhaul. So, unless the devs change their minds about changing the constructors, I will vote NO.

To say that treason is always bad, implies that the orders of the leadership should always be obeyed without question. I personally believe, that the rights of the people collectively supercede the rights of the leadership. The turnout during the first Iraqi elections after Saddam's fall was very high, which to me suggests that the people want the freedom to select their own leadership. The people who voted for the current Iraqi president represent the majority of Iraqi citizens, so if
