I have two questions for Brad (i) Can I be in BETA 0? Please??? I own all the games you mentioned. (ii) It is hard for me to pre-order games many months in advance as I prefer to pay by Paypal where possible. Is there anything you can do?
the kinds of units and things you can build are more controlled by the presence of resources on the map, how does this relate to how one faction is differentiated from another?
Good question. One of the great things about MOM was the different units and diversity. So how will units differ in visual / play terms between factions?

In relation to Brad's post I have a question about custom content and quality control. Basically, one of the things I don't like in Spore (a similar system) is that you can get good content or poor content. You can also get bad spelling (I hate bad spelling). So there could be some excellent player content, with months of work having gone in to lovingly crafting a new race, and there could be some rubbish content adding (for example) an unbalanced and poorly ren

Hi, I understand that at the start of the game, it requires permanent expenditure of the Channelers essence to found a city. As the game progresses, do other ways to found cities that do not require essence expenditure, become available? Otherwise you would presumably be limited to a finite number of cities, which would be a problem especially on very large maps. Can someone let us know?

I like the idea of being able to control the look of the landscape. You should be able to have verdant landscape, or dead landscape (e.g. undead) or volcanic landscape. I also agree that it might be better based on player preference. For example, you might have a race of cruel fae who have beautiful forests that they enjoy, whilst still being basically evil and tormenting people.

Brad, can you tell us if we will be able to give minor powers to our troops? For example, if I wanted a unit of Paladins, could I take the knight example and give them magic resistance and healing ... ?

Brad's post about 4X economics was great. I have a follow on question ... will we be able to equip our troops with magical attributes? So my soldier would have a sword, plate armour, horse, helm and shield. Could I also give him magic resistance and healing and call him a Paladin. ?

I prefer the MoM / AoW - SM model. Let me explain it properly. Specifically, if you conquered another city with a different alignment they would rebel and need lots of pacification such as garrison and buildings. Troops of the wrong alignment would also have a chance to desert. So you could have some variety but would be limited to thematically similar troops.
Are you objecting because you worry about lawsuit issues or because you don't like the idea of game magic involving plane shifts or whatnot?
No, I mean that I don't think there would be legal problems because other games like AoW II - SM had mechanics near identical to Myrror so, having not challenged those, the holder of the MoM 2 license could not claim infringement for similar usage in Elemental.

I disagree. For a start, Age of Wonders I had an identical mechanic only it was called 'underground' and not another dimension. Age of Wonders II - Shadow Magic had an alternate plane as well. There were official Civilisation mods with similar mechanics too.

Hi, I have some questions ... The best things about similar games like Master of Magic and Age of Wonders Shadow Magic were the diversity of races, units and spells. (1) How many races will there be? (2) How many units? (3) How many spells? Will there be Spore / Galciv2 style creature / unit design features? :) In game how customisable will units be?

With Spore, it's the arbitrary limits on activation that are the problem. I quite like the Microsoft approach. They check the hardware and you can install an unlimited number of times to the same machine based on the hardware hash. You get three activations on different machines. Finally, if you do not install for 120 days, the counter is reset to 0. This prevents piracy but hardly anyone has problems unless they install on more than four physically different machines in
