*chuckle* Man, I can just imagine the earnest look on his face when he popped up with that one. Their fun antics at that age are just to build up some forbearance for when they start transforming into teenagers ... Or so it seems with my 11 year old. Enjoy him while you can

Sounds great! Aren't they always fun times? When my wife and I got married, my future father-in-law was sure he was going to break down and cry (my wife's a Daddy's girl to the hilt). Fortunately, he didn't cry, but he doesn't remember a thing about the ceremony. Why? He had to blank out and go by rote to PERFORM the ceremony. That's right. He was the preacher ...
This statement proves once again that you have no idea what you are talking about. McCain is a bleeding heart liberal. He just happens to be a Republican of Convenience. That may be where the confusion comes from.
Why even go to theatres anymore? To be honest, I don't. I think I've been to an actual theater ... 5 or 6 times this decade. Star Wars (all 3) Harry Potter (twice) and Chicken Little (okay, that flick was just a fun time with the kids). There may be one or two more that I'm missing, but let's face it. I
Man, I thought I recognized those ... I used to drive between Hinton and Richmond (well, Petersburg) all the time. Before I saw the text, I was like, "Huh, he's going through WV". Nice. That drive down I-64 between eastern WV and western VA sure is a pretty one. For some reason, I always got a little nervous going down Sandstone Mountain with a big rig (usually a double trailer, too) right behind me. Oh, and Doc - Sandsto
Also, about once a week pick up a cheap bottle of red and white wine, pop them in the fridge and use them instead of water in recipes. You'll be surprised at the improvement. Pick based upon what you would drink with the dish. Good call on that one. The last bit is also important ... if it ain't worthy

Hmmm... Like others, my "Don't want to meet" list would be easier to put together. there's this Irish Pub in Virginia Beach, where we should all go and meet later this summer..... Hehe. Sounds like fun. Since I moved to Williamsburg, it's closer, but is the drive really any shorter than it would'v
Most people don't know that back in 1912, Hellmann's Mayonnaise was manufactured in England. In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz, Mexico, which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York. This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever deliv
How rich is your preacher? Speaking as the son-in-law of a Southern Baptist preacher, I'll let you in on a little secret. The phrase "poor as a church mouse" would be an apt comparison. If you average out the number of hours he spends: studying, calling, visiting, praying (yes, they do that <img src="http
Hey, Draginol, sorry to hear about the migraine. I get them too. Just a little more frequently than I like. Mine are sinus-induced. Allergies backup to the point that a migraine kicks in. When it happens, I'm worthless. I can barely stand, no appetite, and get very shrewish in temperament. My kids have learned to leave me alone (aka, run like hell) when one comes on. Usually have one or two during the spring (due to pollens and what n
Oh, man. Dharma, love it! Having had a Dachshund before, this sounds so stream-of-conciousness (okay, dachel consiousness so that explains the fliting from topic-to-topic). My kids thought I was going nuts, I was laughing so hard.
For those that don't know, the Darwin Awards are a list of awards that are given out when some ensures the survival of the species by permanently removing themselves from the gene pool in a rather unique, nonsensical and stupid way. There are several rules that go along with it: (found at http://www.darwinawards.com/rules/) Reproduction Out of
A close second would be the dreaded New York Football Giants. Hey, now! Them's fighting words! Of course, I'll have to agree on the Cowboys. That's just a team that I love to hate. And of course, the Deadskins, er Redskins. Can't live
Hey, Mason! Thanks for this one. I've driven by these trailer's repeatedly (on the road and on the many Army bases I frequent ... ) I've always wondered how they get these tanks and trucks on the lowboy's. Mystery solved. Thanks!
*hic* dohn-day-estaaaaah... mon car keys, mon-soor... *hic* Ha! Finally! Someone who's got as twisted a sense of humor as I do! And sadly ... I have spoken to someone in a slurred, drunken mix of Spanish, French, German, and English ... And then my wife just shook her head wondering what I was up
Am I the only one that finds it humorously ironic that Hamas is proclaiming the latest suicide bombing (by a member of Islamic Jihad) as "self-defense"? How can blowing yourself up be a form of selfdefense? Last time I checked - self-defense was defending yourself form harm ... Anyways - While it wasn't Hamas that performed the action, by declaring it an a
"Why SHOULD I learn their language?" Duh. Because the fact is people who know it are better equipped. That's why, as a youngster growing up in Germany, we learned German (whether pidgen, formal or some cross between the two) - to be able to communicate with the locals more effectively. As as been pointed ou
rofl. I like the prinicipal "Put in him the fifth grade ... I got the last five wrong ... " What gutter was that principal's mind in? :congrats:
Good job, gid! Having worked with several folks that have gotten the equivelant certification here in Virginia, I understand the level of effort required to even get close! It's nice to know that the folks in that part of the Panhandle are in good hands.
She has a 4.13 GPA (I could never get more than a 4.0 when I was in school - I guess there is more than just wage inflation). Doc, it's easy. Take at least one AP/Honors class. In most school systems in VA, Honors/AP courses are rated on a 5.0 scale instead of a 4.0. So, you getting F in an AP course is
My wife made a comment last night that struck a chord with me. She said, "All of the performances over the last several weeks have been really bland." Thinking on it, that's true. There's only been one, maybe two, stand out performances each week. And they were mediocre, at best. Now, I usually like Country Night (and thought Katherine McPhee's performance was pretty good.) but it was just so "blah", like most of the performers were doing
Hope your feeling better, Tex. Like dynamaso, I've not gone through it first hand (but trust me, second hand is almost as bad), it's still not a pleasant experience. Fortunately, my wife was like this (seriously nauseated/sick) with the first one. With the other three - just a touch of morning sickness. Really got my mother ticked off at her. Seems my mom had bouts of nausea and sickness all through all three pregnancies .... to the point
Bwaaahaaa!!! "Dammit, I could have slept in. " I loved that line. You know something, Tex? If you don't have one of these days every once and a while, you kinda get to thinking that parenting is easy ... This is just the universe's way of setting you straight again. Just nice to see that someone else has mornings like this.
Sometimes I would sleep with them and sometimes I would put them back in their crib. With all of my kids (my daughter especially 'cause she was difficult to get back to sleep in the middle of the night if not held), I would lay on the couch with them stretched out across my chest. They were, however, in a p
