So basically, the only way we're getting into heaven is subscribing to an institution. That's lovely. I sincerely hope you get into heaven, author. That way god can smack the living bajeezus out of you for such a narrow-minded view.

*cry* If only there was time. Right now most of the web team is hard at work on the next big thing for Stardock, Impulse. I like all of the suggestions that have been made, in one way or another, or pieces of them. For about the last year, Zoomba and I (among others) have been compiling a massive list of things that we're going to address, add and improve upon in the next revision of Wincusotmize. So I just thought I would pipe in here and say that while you may not see anything youre discussion

It's an issue with how IE7 is handling the javascript on the page. Since we've tested with many copies of IE7 here, it's localized to your system. Use CCleaner to remove all of your temp files and try again. That's really my only other suggestion. If you're brave, download IE8 beta. It doesnt suffer from the same problem as IE7 in this context.

We're experimenting with different services. I'm going to moderate the posts regarding the searching until we get something locked down that we're happy with. Also, Issues about the sites go into the 'Site Issues' forum. Post moved.

When you report issues with any of our websites, it's near impossible for us to do anything about it if you dont provide us with Operating System and version, Browser name and exact version and the URL of the page giving you troubles. I think my next update to the forums will include a giant popup reminding people of this... Based upon that (really vague) description I'm going to assume you were using IE when trying to navigate to 'forums.wincustomize.com/51830'. I've used every b

That's right. We have to disable the Forum RSS Feeds temporarily. It appears as if some people out there have their readers setup to poll the server for an update every 30 seconds or so. Basically, it's killing the server that the forums all reside on and leeching bandwidth like crazy. There is also evidence that some Bots (Spiders, Google etc) are crawling the feeds as well, very frequently. We've taken the usual precautions to prevent this (since we discovered it) but it may take upwards of a

Version 1.5.2994.24474 of the forums was published today. Fixes include the bit about not being able to edit your own post if you're not a moderator. You'll also notice a change to the url formatting throughout the forums. Theyre now cleaner, easier to look at and (hopefully) easier to use. Most of our sites are moving to this cleaner format. However , all of the old URLs will still work just fine. Nothing should be broken if you have a link to a pos

Wow what sheer dumb luck that I happened accross this (while working on the forum code, no less). Hebes, The old version of Kapsules that was available is kaput. It doesnt even hold a candle to DesktopX, Yahoo Widgets, or Microsoft's or Apple's new stuff. So it's pretty much dead. I'm still working on a new version, but who knows when I'll have that ready. Thanks for the interest though.

Sequential. Every time we make a modification to the code and refresh locally for debugging (or begin a debug session) the framework rebuilds the assembly. Hence the last quandrant increases quite a bit between updates to the forums here. The first and second quandrant indicate more of an overall codebase revision status (major changes) and the last two are more for me and the other devs. Also helps us make sure that our servers arent running a (incorrectly) cached version of the site.

Version 1.5.2991.23683 of the forums was published today. Most of the modifications were done in areas of the code which deal with goings on behind the scenes. However, there were a few little updates that should make some people happy. When you're looking at a list of posts, youll see this icon quite often If you're logged in, and you've viewed the post previously, this icon will take you to the last page and reply that you rea

It's this person to person (or personally directed) nonsense and bickering that is the number one issue with JU, in my humble opinion. It's that kind of nonsense that new users coming from services like Blogger, Wordpress, and LiveJournal see that drives them away. Afterall, who wants to participate on a site if everything you write is met with cynical, personal attacks? I know thats the reason I dont participate on Slashdot. If I werent the primary developer on JoeUser, I'd hardly visit

Wow. These are some great entries all. It's the weekend and I'm pretty sure we're going to need some time to go over these and decide which one we want to declare the winner, and which are the runners up. I'm glad that's Zoomba's job and not mine :D As soon as I saw horizon and chet's entries the first thought that popped into my head was how to allow users to use *all* of them. I'm going to have to think about that some more. Because I agree that it would be a shame to let any of tho
You also have to take into consideration that not everyone is seeing any or little action being taken after feedback is given. Still to this date I am unable to use the quote feature in Firefox and I am still having issues with my log in. Is that enough feedback?
Well since you've provided no information about the sytem or browser version you're running, I'm left to assume. We developed the site using Firefox and adapted it to other browsers from there. We did this b

I wouldnt expect any of our sites to look right under IE8 unless youre running in IE7 emulation mode. The sites arent setup to detect IE8 and would instead think you were browsing with IE6, hence serving really nasty css. Stardock websites are definately NOT the ones you want to use to test unless youre running IE8 under IE7 emulation mode.
