Brad, what's wrong with shift+left click to select individual ships or drag a box around them? This is a fairly common use. Failing that ctrl+left click. Paul.

Not sure about the states, but within Europe I would consider numbers above 100,000 as huge. The ELSPA (www.elspa.com) has the sales numbers for any game within Europe. Above 100,000 is a Silver award (eg. Tomb Raider 4, medal of honour), above 200,000 is a gold(Fifa 2002), above 300,000 is a platinum. Full information on any game can be purchased from the site. I suspect that Strategy First is a member and can provide you with numbers for any of its games. Obviously there will a differ
Legion is an excellent game. I'm really looking forward to playing it. That sort of mass marketing for the big names is fairly common. Remember that the same occurred for EU and it still sold huge numbers. Word of mouth, reviews and customer satisfaction will sell the game. Once it;'s on the shelf it will sell! Paul.
Dominic, when you purchase a new building you only receive it the following turn! When you purchase, all you do is purchase build potential. You can then change the build item to something else if you want. Multiple purchases should just increase the build potential, not buy multiple buildings. Not sure why you got a crash though. Paul
Sounds very intriguing. I assume any breakdown in relations (such as war) automatically removed the trade. Would this cause instant removal of the benefit, or a slow removal as traded stock is depleted? Also, will other empires be angry with you for not trading a particular item with them? It could be a no win situation for a trading empire if it can only trade with a single empire and the other empires declare war on it out of anger! I assume the value of X will depend on the value
TheHampster, you're being extremely hard on EU2. It has a full scenario editor so you can create infinite numbers of scenarios. There's also an online swapping location for these and there are hundreds of user scenarios (of varying quality). There is no difference between a campaign and scenario! While it's AI is not perfect it is not bad. The biggest appeal of this game is the fact that there are hundreds of computer controlled countries all playing independently, which just look
just a couple of smaller bugs / suggestions to add to the bug list. - leader name and empire name: It would be nice to highlight these if you click on them so you don't need to manually delete them. Just type the new name. - reinforced hulls: 'string not found +10'. I assume this is not yet implemented or should it be defense. Alternatively maybe it is some superstring theory? - Event window: scrolling the event widow overwrite the previous information. This may be rel
Cari, here are the smart exception results for this crash. It happens when I press the next turn button. Not sure what is causing it, but it's definitely not the research. To do step 5 you need to get added to the alpha list. You post to request this, take part in the forum for a while and you will get added next time the list is being updated. I believe the development is nearly to the 1st beta stage and then everyone (who does steps 1-4) will be able to download the beta. Paul.
The battleship could have been atn a higher level. Each increase in level add one to the attack nd defense values. Still very strange that it could destroy everything without taking enough damage to cripple it. I could understand the defenders and scouts easily (they don't stand a chance). 3 battleships in a row is fairly lucky though, especially with planetary defense bonuses. Paul.
Defending an anomoly sounds fine. The current likelihood of a defender defeating a flag ship is not very high though! I personally don't like flag ships as the sole anolomy explorer. I liked survey ships. Perhaps return unarmed or lightly armed survey ships but only allow them to reach a certain level (maybe 4). Only a flag ship can advance beyond that (but obviously costs more to build). Then you have the choice of cheaper survey but very vunerable to attack (from enemies of from anomoly) v
Outgunned, what did you not like about MOO2? While I hope MOO3 is better I really like MOO2 and often play it. It had a nice balance to it which made games enjoyable even fairly late on. Stars was not too bad a game but the early game was the only fun part. Later games tended to bog down and lack the fun factor. It was normally also a game of rapid expansion. Whichever player expanded the most usually one. No other tactic could compete. Space Empires 4 is a good game bu
Sounds like a cool feature though! Will you be able to see the level of the anomoly of would you have to explore to find out? Paul.
Also, the event queueing for colonisation is slighty strange if a colonisation event occurs. While the events wait for you to select a planet, the rest of the events then occur even if a pop-up window appears for an event from that planet. I think a colonisation event shoul delay other events until you have dealt with it. Paul.
The latest version is still only showing two events in the window at a time. I thought Cari wanted it to show three? Paul.
Have you played Europa Universallis??? This is undoubedly one of the greatest strategy games I have ever played. How can you suggest that Strategy First has not published first class games? They did a very good job publishing this. Paul.
Zeitqeis, you are using the latest alpha version? The earlier version would skip the colonisation if an event also occurred. You would then have to manually locate your colony ship and click it back to the planet. Paul.
Jack, I think Brad was just suggesting that replayability is subjective as oppossed to all the items in the poll which are physical measureable quantities. It is therefore not in the poll. Neither is fun, and neither is gameplay. I don't believe he suggested for a second that he didn't feel replayability was crucial. Brad it could be interestng to have a seperate poll at a later stage looking for what makes a game replayable. resource / location randomness AI ran
Sounds pretty good!
God King, you can still play that game today as well as the many newer versions. Search for Rogue tpye games such as ADOM, Nethack, Moria, and Angband (and their thousands of variations). These games are still highly addictive! I do agree though that replayability can be totally seperate from all items on the cyber poll list. For Rogue I would say it was a mix of simplicity versus infinite variation. A bit like chess really. Other major attractions were that you could just play and
Cari, a useful option would be an autopilot until fully repaired option. Maybe sentry or guard already do this, but I'd like to be able to click on damaged ships and have them stay 'repairing' until ready. I assume there are some plans to eventually allow ships more rapid repair at shipyards? Paul.
this does not always occur. Just for that particular game. And even then if reloaded and left the invasion a few 10's of turns, it then worked! Paul.
I quite often see this behaviour, but usually not for so long. It does seem a bit foolish. You would think that enemy ships in orbit around a star system would initiate a blockade or something to stop the resources from the entire empire being used on that planet. Are there any plans to allow for blockades? Paul.
Fredrik, I'm using a P450 machine, so fairly similar to yours and I do not have a slow down problem or any of the problems you are seeing. I suggest trying a new game and failing this again doing a complete uninstall, deletion of directories and temp files, download and re-install. If this doesn't work then something very strange is going on. Paul.
Alex, some variation to the star images would be nice. They look fine now, but a small bit of variation, even if just in the size of the star would be good. Somehting else which is still missing / not there is the progress bars below the planets in the planet list. An early build had these and they were useful. Perhaps the option of showing these progress bars below stars on the main screen or map would be useful as well? Paul.
