Do the other races have unlimited money?

I have been playing a game where no matter how long a I leave a ship on autopilot attacking a planet, that planet always builds another ship during the turn my ship killed the previous one. This goes on for 100's of turns. How can they have that much money?

I quite often see this behaviour, but usually not for so long. It does seem a bit foolish. You would think that enemy ships in orbit around a star system would initiate a blockade or something to stop the resources from the entire empire being used on that planet.

Are there any plans to allow for blockades?

On the other hand, I've been building a Battleship, and then switched to Defender, and out pops 5 or so Defenders, one per turn. It seems that the production is built up into a savings account that you can withdraw at will. Of course, that doesn't explain 100s of ships ...

BTW, I think that the other races start with Battleship Tech. And Brad has said that the other races start with a full view of the Galaxy. I'd be interested in knowing how much else the other races have that humanity is lacking.

I don't think that they start with the battleship technology, otherwise it would show up on the tradescreen...
