florida may well go to Bush, but it is by a .1% margin Yeah, well, we'll see how close it is when all of the absentee ballots have been counted (many of them military), although I've heard they may not all be counted until sometime Thursday...................

For those of you looking for an update, I'll post something with more info sometime in the next few days. This week I am subbing for the band teacher at one of the Intermediate schools in town. Today was my second day with all of the classes, and it was much more difficult to keep them on task and work on playing new music than it was yesterday. Why is th

I was definately not offended, at all. I love being around other people and their children (most of the time). The only down side to it for me is an occasional sense of sadness from not having children of my own yet. We have tried at times over the years, but there are still alot of health issues that we have to deal with first. I felt bad for being so spaced out...............I've had to take too much pain medication lately, and it deadens the pai

I know I'd love to have a JU party, texas style! Sounds like alot of fun! Just make sure you bring plenty of cool clothes. It was in the nineties last week! *smiles and waves at chiprj and ravenblack, glad they stopped by and wishing they could come to Texas too*

I want to go to lunch too!!!!! I wish you could, too, Dharma...................mayhaps you'll have to visit the wonderful (please read as obscenely warm in October) Republic, I mean State, of Texas sometime and we'll have a big lunch party with SPC NBS, greywar, ssg geezer, psuedosoldier, lifeha

I understand your hesitation, but if you're going to avoid her for a while any way, you might as well say something. Maybe think it out, or write it out so you can make it sound as non-threatening as possible, but this girl and her mom need to know that what she did was wrong. So many of the "bad" kids I have seen have parents who believe their children can do no wrong. This 14 yr. old may not be anywhere near that level, but with that kind o

Dharma & Wahine--Thank you for caring, it means alot. I'd take that kind of fun over too much alcohol, foolishness and a hangover any day Yeah, I think I have more fun without alcohol than I used to have when I drank. At the very least, a different kind of fun. And I remember more, too.

I said in my last post that I've felt in a daze lately, and it's true. Very true. There's so much going on, and yet I know that I am missing things. Opportunities are slipping through my fingers because I can't stop long enough to see what's right in front of me. Things that I could have done, that I could have said are surrounding me in a blinding fog, running to

In Copperas Cove. Cove Terrace across from HEB. It's a little bitty place, but the food's great and the owner is an awesome lady. We went there for the first time almost as soon as we moved here, and we've been there on average at least once a week, sometimes more. I'd be happy to give you directions, or even take you there sometime if you'd like. I still don't know enough people here.

I started out to write a post about this past week, and realized it's been two weeks since I posted, not one. So much has been going on that I just feel like I'm in a daze, like I'm a record being spun round and round on a turntable (who did that song back in the 80s?). Anyway, I'll try to make some sense, if that's possible. I really don't remember

very nice, dharma! I'm glad they have good school pictures....................I had a lot of bad experiences (and many nightmares) with school pics, myself. Of course, that might have had something to do with my thinking that all of my makeup had to match whatever I was wearing (pink sweater, pink lipstick, pink blush, pink eye shadow, pink eye liner........you get the idea). One year it was pink, one it was purple, and one was mint green!

Thank you so much, Wahine. This brought back alot of memories. I'm glad that you were able to enjoy the time your husband was home, and I know how difficult it is to see him leave again. I took a picture of SPC Nbs at the airport before he left to go back to Korea last year, and when I got it developed, all I could see was how sad he was. I hope and pray that these last 24 weeks will go by quickly and uneventfully.

I don't think I've been called anything bad here, yet, but I have had my share of interesting names over the years. Just this summer I got an email from a friend from college who is in the Navy now. He called me a termagant, among other things. I don't think I had ever been called a termagant before.

I will second the thanks for sharing this experience with all of us. It is wonderful to hear how positive you are, and I know that you will be an encouragement to all those around you. I've been away for a few days, so I'm just starting to read your articles.............I am looking forward to many more excellent reads.

I'm a little late on this one, sorry dharma. I've had a lot of encounters with snakes, most of them when I was younger, living in NW Pennsylvania. The most recent was in California. I was working at the university that had been built on what used to be Ft. Ord, and it was pretty warm, so we had propped the doors to the building open. I heard a weird noise, thought some paper had been blown off the counter onto the floor, so I stood up and looked ov

You guys are so frickin hilarious! I would say my handbag would have to be black (because I like black), and big enough to carry a paperback. My husband, on the other hand, keeps threatening to get me something else........................

Well, since I got married at 19, I haven't been asked that one much, but after 8 years, I am so tired of hearing, "so, when are you going to have a baby?"
