Here are two more poems, one from about five years ago, the other from seventeen, beginning with the most recent: A fog of confusion wreaths the mind so densely that thought finds it impossible to navigate <span style="font-family: book antiqu

Life is very different than it was five years ago when I was blogging here on a regular basis. It is different than two years ago when I posted for the last time prior to now as well. I moved...from WA to AL to PA back to AR...the last two on my own. I went through a devastating divorce, my marriage ending after 13 1/2 years, watched my exhusband remarry the best friend whose children I had helped raise for 2 years, and walked away from it all. I went through 2 other failed relationships, but

Flipping through radio stations on the long drive home, I came across one playing some old familiar tunes I hadn't heard in years....it was amazing the immediate gut reaction I had.... Home Sweet Home (Motley Crue)...my heart's like an open book, for the whole world to see...it is, really. How strange is it that I feel like a worn, little known classic, first edition, even, just waiting for someone to recognize the worth of what they've stumbled upon lying in their path, s

Searching for a way to understand my life recently, I sought to define myself. I searched the internet and found numerous definitions for my name that are strangely accurate. JOY </span

It's been a long time since I poured my thoughts and emotions out for the masses to view and comment on. I could say that it seems like a lifetime ago, but that's not quite accurate. There is no seeming difference, some ephemeral quality that has changed around me. Certainly nothing mysterious or magical. The simple truth is this. Life as I knew it changed irrevocably in the past two years. Everything is different, everythi

Besides, if I were to pick which of the two faiths represented, respectively, by Huckabee and Romney, has acted more "cult-like" in my experience, I'd have to say Huckabee's faith (Southern Baptist) wins, hands down! In fact, over time, I am becoming less and less sure that the SBC is NOT a cult. and to
If the books are heavily anti-religion then it didn't spill over into the movie. If there was anything that the movie conveyed it's that people should think for themselves and not buy into groupthink.
I'm coming in late to this too.....I have not seen the movie and probably will not, but I have read the books. I was very excited about the movie when I saw the trailer earlier this summer and immediately went out to get the first book. It was a great story with very littl

Oh my gosh that is so hilarious! I could so totally see my husband trying something like that. I'm not sure I could keep it straight long enough to do it myself.

I can honestly say that being in the Seattle area this year, I am enjoying the change in weather this summer from Arizona last year and Texas the 4 before it. Today was actually a bit chilly even, I think the high was around 68. I do miss the sun though. And it makes me laugh everytime I hear a local talk about how hot it is whenever it gets close to 80....... Here's hoping I can wish some of my cooler weather your way!

One of the gifts I've been blessed with is insight. It's been a very useful tool at times, and frustrating at others. Even as a child, I was the one that others seemed to come to with their problems......I guess they somehow knew I would understand. In my teens I began to turn that inward and try to figure myself out in addition to everyone else. Of course, as a y

I've been out of pocket for awhile so I didn't see this right away, but this is just eerie........since my grandfather passed away last month and my mom inherited the farm, my brother and his wife are planning to move up there now, and we were talking about the possibility of NBS and myself (if I can convince him) joining them once he's out of uniform to run it......with ideas of sheep and possibly goats (for milk and cashmere fiber), vegetables, re-es

we were warned about the possiblity of thes 12 month tour being 15 months....BEFORE they left same here........actually, we were kind of warned not to be surprised if they were gone up to two years, so that's what several of us are pretty much expecting. we figure that way, if they come home sooner than

Nah, you won't be alone forever, there are lots of great guys out there who are thinly disguised nerds if you're really lucky, you might even end up with someone who could cross-stich a kickass dragon to go on the wall next to your wand.......Nbs found a pattern for the dragon with the slogan about being crunchy and tasting good with ketchup, even........ funny cartoon, btw

Because that honesty is so often absent, many churchgoers feel the need to present a facade of perfection, a facade that suggests that everything is going right. And because it quite often is not, keeping up that facade sets them up for failures, for crashes, for bitterness. oh my, Gid, did this hit hom

Two weeks ago I was exposed to mushrooms again, to what I thought was somewhat comic/somewhat disturbing effects. I think it was a bad omen. The next day my mom called to tell me my grandfather was in the hospital again and not doing well, and she was catching the train that evening to be up there. She urged me to look at flights, but I didn't think much of it, as

I'm sorry that you had to miss out on your last flying opportunity.......we can hope that you find another outlet for that soon. As for the other, I truly do hope you are able to have some kind of a break, some Mommy time soon, and I do know that's difficult and precious. I just feel out of whack. I am in a different cl

I was standing at the sink washing dishes just after 2pm PT, when I felt a peace upon me, and a song laid upon my heart. I began to sing...... When peace like a river attendeth my way, when sorrows like sea billows roll Whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say, It is well, It is well, with my soul It is well (it is well) with my soul (with my soul), It is well, it is well with my soul And Lord, haste the day when the

I've lived in many places over the years, even before I married and my husband joined the military. At the age of 10 I was living in my 4th state, 5th city, and 6th home. In my younger years I had the privilege to live near my grandparents. Four years in Arkansas near my dad's parents, with another 4 nearby while I was in college. Five years in northwest Pennsylva

And I procrastinate, of course. Too much time on the 'net, too much time in front of a screen. I can so identify with that line right now..... I wish there was something I could say that would help, but I don't think anything would. My prayers are with you, though, and I hope you are able to e
