Look, maybe us Mormons do believe in crazy stories that make absolutely no sense, and maybe Joseph Smith did make it all up, but I have a great life. and a great family, and I have the Book of Mormon to thank for that. The truth is, I don't care if Joseph Smith made it all up, because what the church teaches now is loving your fa

The TSA has been watching people in airports and profiling them based on body language, responses to questions, and other odd behavior. This practice is nothing new, but it's receiving media coverage due to the TSA's plans to roll out the behavior profiling program to several other airports in the next few months. When Gov. Jennifer Greyholm is granted constitutional dispensation to run for the presidency. I had no idea who Jennifer Granholm was until this article. Seems like a good governor of Michigan . Too bad she was born in Vancouver, BC. Y'know, granting her the abi

Well, given one at Liberty, and one at VMI, I can see them being very conservative! You have a son at Liberty University? And you're worried about him becoming too conservative? Too late, baby... he's already there. I studied at Liberty online for two semesters. Graduate program for Masters in Divinit

I have seen right wingers called sheep by the left. As an intelligence analyst for a government agency, I hope that I am not "sheeple", just blindly following and bleating along with the herd. I like to think that I investigate an event or scandal before forming my opinions. And not all of my opinions

South Park and the great: dumb, da dumb, dumb, dumb hummed/sung after each line of the story of how mormons came to believe what they believe. That show was dead-on and it was absolutely hilarious. It was brutal and I am surprised they knew what they knew; they had to have had inside help.

The 2005 Toyota Sienna won last year's best minivan from Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine. (This year? Honda Odyssey.) Sienna is an excellent van and I have heard nothing but good things about it. It also came in first in resale value, retaining its value the best of all minivans for a 4-yr and 6-yr resale. (Good news for trade-in time.) We bought a new van last year, but couldn't afford a Sienna. We went with a used (2002) Chevy Venture

I do have difficulty admitting my enjoyment of the Spice Girls, though. And what better place to come clean than in the anonymity of blog-world?

It really is excellent when entertainers are willing to play for the troops. This morning on my way into work, I was listening to an interview with Jeffrey Ross, who is a standup comic. Ross has been all over the place, like Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Bosnia, even Djibouti! He has even accompanied General Myers! What a guy and what a cause. Ross said those were his favorite gigs of all time, playing for the troops overseas. And he recommends the U

i wasn't the one who listed catholics with muslims and jews as an example of non-christian believers. The key word in that sentence is sectarian! Geez, can't a guy make a slip of the keyboard around here?

May I ask why on Earth you would do that so close to Christmas? My wife asked the same question, almost verbatim. My thoughts: 1. three day weekend. 2. Christmas doesn't require a lot of movement, unlike Halloween (trick or treating). 3. family in town to help take care of our baby. Fee

Third day and feeling okay. Things are still a little sore down there, but I am wearing jeans for the first time since the surgery. And we're planning on going out and about after lunch. We'll see tonight just how bad I feel. The gauze is off and I'm covering the incision sites with bandaids. Not bad at all, but I still need the bandaids.

With the rough and tumble reputation of the Airborne, Special Forces, Rangers, Navy SEALS, Marine Force Recon, Air Force PJs (and other special ops), it is surprising to see how many LDS members are found within the ranks of each. My institute president in college (Ted and Dev will know what that means)
