The only thing i can think of, is to use the cheatcode that allows you to switch races. That way you could start a game, quickly 'end turn' for however many turns you like, then switch races. Your original race would then be run by the AI and they would have a problem hehehe

I would recommend playing an unmodified version first. That way you will have somthing to look forward too later, also you will have a much better idea of the things you wan't to change. For me, i would like modify a few key things if i knew how!... i would definately modify weapons and defences to reduce the 'luck' factor. I would reduce weapons technology to keep it in line with defences/hitpoints and starbase defences technology. I would look for ways of making the AI more
The slower that a freighter travels, the longer the time at a distance, therefore, higher revenues. I think it all should balance out about equally. The real advantage of faster freighters would be that they are harder for the AI to kill.
Or just pick a Luck ability bonus and Universalists as your party, for a total 50% luck. That means that in combat in DA, you'll never roll less than 50% of your attack power. So buying some in-game luck is a very easy way to compensate for a lack of the real thing This luck ability seems a bit strange. It kindof makes attack abilities obse
Sorry i forgot to thank you Starstriker for the effort of your post, i read it and enjoyed it. Don't agree with all your conclusions but i appreciate the effort.
Given that, it is entirely reasonable that a massive, spacefarring civilisation consisting of billions of individuals and with a rapidly changing internal economy, politics, culture, as well as an extremely complex foreign affairs portfolio, would not be able to perfectly predict the consequences of it's actions. It could only base its decisions on idealogy and best guesse
It is strange, since the mini freighters will actually look like your custom freighter, and even carry the weapons of your custom freighter, but what happened to the engines of your custom freighter?
And I meant what I said... with all due respect, your facts were wrong. Ok i read your long post carefully. I see what your problem is... your thinking about the limitlesness of cause and effect over time etc etc. Look at it this way... first you have a cause - an ethical descision then an effect, an effect which i am saying is pred
* I think *immobile* starbases add to the 'story' of a particular game. When you look at the upgraded military starbase in the corner of the galaxy, now totally useless, but at one time the center of your attemps to conquer that particular system, you see the history af this particular game. True i guess, but i think Stories are best left to mov
Short answer, you odds appear against you and you should have done more damage to his defender but luck wasn't on your side that time. Again, in DA you would of performed better due to defense degradation. That defence degredation is an interesting concept, i like it, a few more concepts along those lines to eliminate the chances of extreme
Honestly, the way that man went from one concept to another like that is mind boggling. Naturally, of course, it's all connected. Speaking of relativety... i considered a little side issue some years back; I was looking at my 30cm ruler, i thought, imagine if this ruler extended out forever across the universe in both dire
Planned obsolence. I think it is inevitable and should be planned for, instead of complained about so much. New processors may require a new socket. New types of memory may need a different chipset. A different video bus requires... The technology evolves. So does the hardware and software. Oh my, if it were p
I don't think that could be considered a flame, or disrespectful of an opinion. What planet are you on?? uh, um you said... Okay, dude. No offense, but you obviously don't know what you're talking about. <
Anyways, it's a question I actually asked my physics prof, once. Basically, NOTHING can make any effect upon another object faster than light can travel between those objects... it is the speed limit of our universe, and gravity is not excepted. The force of gravity is theorized to have a carrier particle like the electromagnetic force (carried by photons) and strong nucle
Anyway, in my opinion, Starbases should not be able to move between solar systems. Then they would just be (slow) starships. Your post caused me to seriously think. I think you could still call starbases starships that 'don't' move just as easily. There is no doubting how fun Terra stars were in Galciv1, it would be a fun
Okay, dude. No offense, but you obviously don't know what you're talking about. Three things: Normally starstriker gives me a good argument in other posts, normally respecting other peoples opinion. A bit of a let down to see this post. Starstriker... the rest of your post is too long! apologies but i cannot read ALL that. Well
Hey guys, you've all been awesome with the support and info and I REALLY appreciate it. Couldn't have put it better myself! Newegg is where I did most of my research on pricing and compatibility. Check it out
Doh! You could never tell I like recreational arguments, could you Hehehe, sometimes an argument about the game, can be more fun than the game! ....na
BTW, the sun cannot just "vanish", so it's basically a moot point... The sun dissapearing is impossible as far as anyone knows of course, your comment is pointless, know one is arguing it can dissapear! I just used it as an example to ask a question about gravity, so i really don't see what purpose your "moot point" comment serves
lots of defense later in the game is mostly useless for its price. This statement is very interesting? I know that defence technology and ship hitpoints kinda fall behind weapons technology towards the end off a game. I also know that it is better to use a single ship rather than a fleet against single ships towards the end of a ga
Hi I was suprised by a recent combat outcome, so i collected the ship stats and thought i would post here and see what people think? I had 3 'tiny' class fighters left over from the begining of the game. They survived a long time in my large fleets because their weaponry was to weak to attract enemy fire. They ended up with very high hitpoints so i decided to upgrade them and tested them in combat against a lone Alterian defender. Of course the defender flogged them li
the most obvious difference is that SMAC was confined to one planet, and GalCiv features a whole galaxy I don't see the difference? What you call 'planets' in galciv, are the equivalent of 'cities' in Alpha centauri. Except that the planets in Galciv do not even have a fraction of the features an Alpha city does.
I guess i could always go and conquor a race near the Dreadlords, then not protect the planets. But it would be a sorry state of affairs if it has to come to that?
Nooooo.... Myst (at least the older ones, I never saw the later ones) was a pre-rendered point and click puzzle/adventure type game. Not really an RPG, and definitely nothing like Dungeon Siege. Ah ok, just looking at the website, the game 'appears' to look similar to dungeonsiege. I'm not sure what a pre rendered point and click game is? An
I believe that this is already covered by Gas Warfare. Interesting propulsion mechanism you've devised. I think we should put it in the tech tree between Ion Drive and Impulse Drive. I think if we gave it some thought we c
