Who is the angry ex-vet? I am a vetren but not angry. I did not work for any shadowy government, I worked for the USMC who had me work with DIA no shadowy orginization. Personally I'm of the opinion that anyone who works for Intelligence is working shadowy business, but that's neither here nor there. My questions are for people that believe that (a) it is our fault we were attacked. and (b) that we could have

You're never going to get a decent response on an internet forum. My advice would be to read something like 'What Uncle Sam Really Wants' by Noam Chomsky or 'Why Do People Hate America?' by Ziauddin Sardar and Merryl Wyn Davies. Your local library will probably have copies. Sure, being an angry ex-vet of some shadowy gov dept you'll probably loathe the expression and the arguments, but stick with and read the 'evidences' listed in the footnotes. You'll easily figure out why Arabs mig

Rumour is her boyfriend murdered first her son and then her for the money. I don't think he's going to get it though; her ex-husband's family have got their claws in pretty deep. And good on them too. Anna Nicole put with the corpse whilst they were married, and his family were in it for the long haul too, but this new guy doesn't deserve a dime.

Speaking of normality I've never met this alleged 'normal' person. Every person I've ever met diverts from the perfect stereotype in some way. They might eat seafood, they might work sundays so they can pay bills, they might swear occasionally, they might use more than just the missionary position when having sex, they might even have sex outside of marriage. Does that mean they too will be smote? If so at least all us sinners will have good company.

Do you not understand the difference between an analyst that is brought on, and someone who actually reports the news? It's certainly interesting. Let's consider a newspaper. Does a staff reporter who only writes opinion columns qualify as a reporter? They're usually paid as one. Why would it be different for TV? A reporter who is used on news services to provide opinion, and do it exclusively, is not that much different from that newspaper reporter

Sorry chawlie. The video showed him sitting and talking, but no sound from him talking. Then Keith does anotehr hatchet job. Of COURSE Keith Oberfuhrer would never tell a lie! (Let me count the ways!) Be a little proactive Dr Guy - get a Deaf friend to lip-read for you if you're that concerned. I can tell you right now that TV stations don't editorialise VOTs purely because the Deaf community can see exactly what's being said. It's way too easy

Thanks Sean for posting that. I've personally always wondered how literal Christians can live in society without spending all their time in jail. Their faith demands so many barbaric acts of murder and depravity it's a wonder they ever get things done.

I've always taken great comfort in one of my grandfather's favourite sayings - some people are just crazy. They're not sick, it's not a disease, they're just not right in the head and nothing can be done about it. That astronaut was just one of those people. Sure, it's a stereotype and probably not PC, but life is so much easier when you have a handy stereotype to fall back on.

A revelation! I can't say I'm particularly surprised - it would be a bigger surprise if an Australian artist wasn't a regular user of something mildly illegal. But it's always good to kick a habit when it gets boring. Here's to another 150 articles!

To be fair, I never heard the term "neo-con" before it was used as a slur. Neoconservative, sure, but the word "Neo-Con", at least in my experience, was exclusively a Lefty insult before we robbed its venom by shrugging it off. It's been around for a while (at least since the mid-90s, because I've seen it in print from that time), but it's always been a mostly spoken term in academia. It is only really the Marxists and the far left who use the contracti

Bottom line though, is something is always better than nothing. Put the fence up, it's SOMETHING. Any little thing we can do to slow the tide of illegals will help, and all these little things eventually add up to a great big hassle, maybe hassle enough to turn some of them back, or discourage them from trying to come in the first place. <br

hmmmmm sounds like this theory comes straight from the pit of hell IMO. I see Satan pretty much saying this himself in scripture.[/quote] How convenient. Paladin: I don't think you understand what the term actually means. A neocon isn't a traitor to the liberal cause, they're a member of a specific offshoot of conservative philosophy which borrows heavily from classical liberalism but retains the moral dimension of the past. George Bush isn't a neo-conservative because he used to be a liberal. He's a neoconservative because he preaches moral conservatism and an extremely radical liberal economic philosophy. That's all there is

I think that Cacto is essentially disputing options 1 and 2 because he is leaning towards option 3, but I would like to suggest that the most serene, rational and genuinely liberating of all these options is number 4... Eh, I don't think there's any god worthy of worship out there who is omnipotent. And if the god isn't omnipotent and can have i

I can only speak for the narrow slice of Islam with which I am familiar, but Muslims do become involved with trying to fix the bad sides of their religion. Indonesian Muslims, for example, support literally thousands of charities which seek to improve educational standards in pesantren and madrassahs, or the quality of Islamic scholarship. There's also the more pragmatic, and in my opinion more useful, groups which seek to remove or limit the root causes of deadly extremism - poverty and undere

I disagree, i'm christian, and that's not my God. My God, is kind, caring/compassionate, just, understanding, amongst other things. Presumably you don't believe everything you read in the bible then, which, you'll be glad to know, makes you no fundie. Rejoice, ye merry spoonshifter.

I can't believe the Dresden Dolls are on the straight list! They're quirky, offbeat and riddled with effeminacy (or whatever the word is). I don't know a single gay man who doesn't go ape for the Dresden Dolls.

The Christian God isn't a bad God, as you present it, cacto, he's just got a crappy PR team! I like that. Is that yours? It's certainly true anyway. God is the God of order. It's Satan who is the god of confusion

I was going to answer here but in the end my rant was too long - I've written it as an article. I won't link it here, but the basics are: The demanding, vicious and ruthless god many fundamentalists like yourself believe in isn't worthy of worship in my view. If you wouldn't support a man who asks for kids to be killed, why would you support a god? Is it simply because a god has more power? What kind of attitude is that to be holding? Morality is about more than simply doin

I don't get what the significance is of that eagle sitting on some dead sticks like a duck with fat legs, but the rest are mildly amusing, especially the deodorant which everyone's mentioned. That's clever.

Many years ago it became clear to me that God as described by the fundies was unworthy of worship. Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't believe. It's just that, well, the god of the Christians is frankly an immoral, vicious bastard with the social graces of a praying mantis and a heart as black as coal. I don't claim to know the infinite universe. I don't claim to be a good person. But I do try. So when I hear that the Creator is all for the murder of innocent ch

Name me one other job where you can flat-out refuse to do to the work you're being paid to do simply because you disagree with the boss's decisions and not be terminated for it. Some law firms allow client refusal based on moral issues, and a few PR firms do as well. It's not quite the same though; you can't really be a soldier without figh

What I do know is the fact that they're perfectly willing to kill millions in the effort, and that's what I worry about. Iran, a nation governed by Fundies who want to destroy both the US and Israel, will soon have nukes. And that doesn't bother anyone? Iran is actually surprisingly well-led. Since the mid-80s they've hardly put a foot wrong in
