Should WinCustomize support IM goodies?

AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Instant Messenger, etc. have all kinds of interesting "goodies" that you can download of them. Avatars, Emoticons, Winks, Backgrounds, etc. And probably even more than we're thinking of.

The question is, should WinCustomize have a section to support these kinds of things? Let us know.

well first off i think its a good idea...but this is "WIN" customize right??? so i would only expect to find things for skinning the Windows OS....i do support you making IM skins for any IM progams people choose to use, but then you would have to change yer site to www.customize.com because you would be hosting a variety of skins for various programs not just Windows!!!i think the variety would be fantastik but you would also be taking the "WIN" out of wincustomize!!!which would suck i think......

If you take a look at the skins that are on WC you'll see WC does indeed host skins for "various other" programs already.

yes, support for instant messengers would be great, but not just emoticons, however. skins and background pics would dress them up to blend better with wincustomize skins and themes.

Yes, Yes I would love to see support for the messengers I think that would be a vantastic Idea, backgrounds would be the best . with some of the work around here would be great................please please yes

The backgrounds for msn suck to begin with, if we could use .eps so it wasn't horribly pixelated and distorted that would be another issue, or figure out how to make it so the image doesn't stretch with the window like the default one does.

But regardless, you make a place for emoticons, display pictures, and backgrounds, for any amount of messengers, and the amount of random spam and rips of groovy things off the web will bury it.

Absolutely, we need skins for something like this. I'm getting tired of looking at the same old same old every time I open AIM. Please do, and thanks ahead of time to any skinners that are already working on something like this.

Oh I beg to differ. You're wrong on all counts except your first sentence (or mebbe the last one depending on Admins). Why do you think that there are sections for Winamp, Windows Media Player? Well, they're not part of the Windows in the sense you're implying (considering MS might follow anti-trust rulings), yet they're important to many of us and considered an integral part of the OS. So is IM'ing software.

And it's not like creating original skins, winks, smilies, avatars would degrade this site in anyway; it'd be more like a new venture where skinners here can channel their creativity through. There's definitely great potential in this

Ugh.. sorry for double posting. First there came this "Server Application Error /" or some message like that, and I thought it didn't go through. I deleted the orginal post, so you can all clearly see this...

Does WINamp and WINdows media player ring a bell of or relating to WINcustomize?

Even with Msn Messenger being made for windows, it and others are available for other platforms.

ive seen alot of sites for msn messenger emoticons but none are animated so if you could get some animated ones that would be great.
the problem is that msn messenger 7 is good and has good features but there is no good picures ,wallpapers or icons

YES! please add things like that, it would be awesome. but make them a subsection of a category like Instant messenger goodies or something in that area.

I only use forum-based IM'ing, otherwise...not interested.

Yeah it would be kinda cool. It's a totally different market though. Whatever floats your boat. I say give it a try.

Well FWIW I tried Gaim Link it works just like Trillian (though I only used the free version of Trillian( and it skins with whatever WB skin you use. Not a bad little program......

plain and simple. yes. it would probably bring more young people to your site knowing that you have something that would benefit both them and their friends.

I am all for an IM customizing section! My personal favorite progam is MSN it is relitivly clean and simple... well it use to be anyway. Still my vote is to include the section.

I say no IM section like some others said before me its a waste of bandwith for a bunch of winks, emoticons ,avatars and backgrounds.
